Jersey Shore's breakout star is scheduled to appear at James Madison University in Virginia on March 3rd, but some Snickers-haters are flooding the event's Facebook page with misogynistic, racist comments!
Ugly!
"The Facebook page became a place where students wrote positive comments about the violent guy that punched Snooki and how she deserved it," said Steven Eure, member of the University board.
"Their comments were cruel not only about Snooki but also directed toward the students that were excited that Snooki was coming."
Should fans of Snooki be afraid???
The JMU event organizers finally took down the board and comments from the event's page, stating:
"…The conversation on the Facebook wall went from beneficial to hostile, and even violent and racist…we simply cannot constantly observe and prohibit offense, obscene uses of the internet which are both misuse of JMU’s internet policy and illegal."

I go to James Madison University, which is a school of up to 18,000, and you have no idea how many students are excited for Snookie. The University Program Board wants her and the school wants her just as badly.

I just graduated from JMU and there are and always will be kids there who don't get involved and complain about who comes to campus. But its just like anything if you don't like the show on tv you change the channel if you don't like who comes to campus then don't go. I'll never understand why college students who are suppose to be open minded have so much hatred and ignorance considering that the majority of JMU gets drunk as a hobby and are probaly just jealous that Snooki gets paid too be herself and some of the kids at JMU will never be themselves since they"re trying to fit it!!
She's just a big waste of money, really. I used to like the show and watch it occasionally, but now they're just getting annoying and overexposed. There are way more intelligent/funny/[insert anything] people who could come to JMU instead of her.

Unbelievably ignorant. It's not very hard to understand that the students here see her as silly entertainment and not an idol. There are thousands of kids working incredibly hard in various areas of study at JMU, and believe it or not sometimes breaks are welcome. I suppose you were superior and 'above' such activities as a college student, right? Give me a break.
I go to JMU and posted on the event wall - my comments as well as the vast majority of the others were aimed at the university program board for yet another example of the less than stellar programs they bring to campus every year. I loved jersey shore and watched it every week. Our disgust isn't so much in snookie coming vs any one else in the cast, its with the lack of quality acts coming to campus. I've known steven eure since his freshman year, and while his characterization of comments as "hostile, and even violent and racist" is i guess technically accurate, it makes them sound worse than they actually were -"everyone who is excited this chick should kill themselves" is i guess hostile and violent….some of the post def weren't p.c., but no one was being threatened or anything extreme.

It's a silly entertainment event that a bunch of college kids are looking forward to. The fact that some people here are letting a cheap, one time guest event define JMU and its students is very, very revealing of their own ignorance.
Yeah there are many better guests JMU's UPB could've (and in the past, have) gotten, but its just a fun night off for everyone to relax and laugh at the stupid things she's going to say.

I go to JMU. Maybe some students don't want her to come because her sole claim to fame is getting drunk frequently and taking her clothes off for the first "juicehead" that swaggers her way. Yes, there are plenty of people who are excited that she is coming and many who are disappointed. The real disappointment is the foolish and ignorant way some students choose to voice their opinions. Maybe next time our school will invite someone of merit or talent to come and visit. Till then, bring on the Snooki.

I'm a JMU alumni and a former member of the UPB executive board, and I think the uproar regarding the program board bringing Snooki to JMU is absolutely ridiculous. UPB brings tons of events to the university throughout the semester, a good amount of them being educational as well as entertaining, and there's really no one event that will please everybody. If you don't like Snooki, don't go. It's that easy.
For those of you judging the university as a whole based off of ONE event, get off your high horse. You might want to go back and take a few critical thinking courses since education seems to be important to you.
