Scorsese And DiCaprio Bring Box Office Gold With Shutter Island

They've done it again!

The Martin Scorsese-Leonardo DiCaprio flick Shutter Island is expected to be the #1 film at the box office this weekend!

The R-rated psychological thriller is expected to bring in an impressive $40 million by Sunday night, securing it at the number one spot.

Critics and industry insiders were worried about its ability to succeed, considering Paramount pushed the 2009 release date back to 2010, but by the looks of it, the studio had the right idea!

Have U seen Shutter Island yet?

      Shutter Island was completely b-a-d-a-s-s.

    7. 7

Totally not related to this post but KRISTAN STEWART JUST WON A BAFTA…WHAT THE FUCK.

    8. 8

I saw it last night, Excellent, leo was great. see it. a classic…..

    9. 9

i was anticipating it since november. what a bummer.
      cheap plot twist.

    10. 10

We went and saw it on Friday. We loved it. Very good

    11. 11

I saw this movie 2 days ago, and let me tell you, I will be going back to see it again!!!!! It's all I can think about. I'm in love with this movie! Everyone should see it. It is mind blowing!

    12. 12

Lindsay Lohan should have been in the movie. She would have had no problem playing a mental patient !

      13

just got back from seeing it. just ok imo. way long. lol brilliant wasnt a word i would associate with it. i knew the twist half way in. people were squirming in their seats. leo was good though

    14. 14

i only saw this cause hes hot and it was amazing

    15. 15

Did Leo have to do this little guy for the part … ?

    16. 16

I saw it last night and I loved it!

      17

Saw it yesterday - bad ass movie. Loved it :)

    18. 18

yes and it was a terrible movie! A HUGE disappointment! Very disconnected in the flow of the movie!

    19. 19

Saw it yesterday, against my will. It was HIS turn to pick the movie. I admit I was wrong. I thought it was really good,

    20. 20

      Scorsese= Genius, Dicaprio=Genius!

      Great film! no wonder.

    21. 21

It's Marty trying to do Hitchcock and failing miserably! Fail! And I was really, REALLY looking forward to it too! Grrrrr…..

    22. 22

The title of this movie sounds SO good and I think that's what's making people go. IS it good though??

    23. 23

I think Leo is the hottest actor ever since The Departed. I will definately see this. I want to fuck him!

    24. 24

      i want to see it!

    25. 25

Saw it opening night, LOVED it, Leo is an amazing actor and the movie was very well done, it deserves to be number one!

    26. 26

I saw it, it was alright. If you saw "A Beautiful Mind", the movie will seem to be a somewhat familiar story. If not, you'll probably like it more than I did. Leo did a nice job, I always like him, just would have liked a more original story.

    27. 27

Saw it yesterday and it could have been great but the end was poorly executed. It has everything going for it - very stylish, great soundtrack, great cast - but to me it wasn't finished properly. Shame, I was so looking forward to it.

    28. 28

I saw it and thought it was pretty darn good

    29. 29

Martin Scorcese is so damn cute. He looks like he's about 5'4". He's also a genius but he's a cute genius.
      *
My dad went to Woodstock and he thinks they're brothers or something because he always says "Martin Scorcese was at Woodstock." like it's some kind of annointing. Come to think of it, maybe it was …

    30. 30

Um-you people do know this is based on a book right? The end was already written

    31. 31

Leo is an incredible actor, the movie was good but the twist at the end reminded me of something like Gothika w/ Halle B

    32. 32

I saw it….was not as good as Cape Fear, and reminded me of "The Others" with Nicole Kidman. Kind of a rip off, actually.

    33. 33

I've seen it, it was really really great. Best film I've seen in weeks. The suspense is amazing, and Leonardo Di Caprio is really great!!

    34. 34

Saw the movie today, loved it. Leo never plays a bad movie. He is a great great actor.

    35. 35

yes i saw it on friday . and although it was good , it was not what i expected.

    36. 36

It was amazing! It's very creepy and unsettling, and it makes you think. Total surprise ending that knocks you off you're feet. I love Leo and Scorsese.

    37. 37

Shutter Island is an amazing movie!!!! I loved it!

    38. 38

LOVE IT!!! Too bad my hubby didn't get the ending! Hopefully more peeps get it

    39. 39

saw it. LOVED IT. bad ass movie. the twist is seen from a mile away — but b/c it's a psychological thriller, you want to believe that the twist isn't possible…

      a classic.

    40. 40

Yes saw it, yes brilliant. Scorsese is fab.

    41. 41

      Predictable and Dull.

    42. 42

I saw it on Saturday night, and I thought it was amazing! Probably Leonardo DiCaprio's best performance thus far. He and Marty are a great team.

    43. 43

OMG IT WAS SO GOOD!!! you have to think a lot though.

    44. 44

Saw it Friday and it was awesome!!

    45. 45

This was NOT a good movie. Totally predictable. No suspense, nothing unusual.
      Dull and overlong.
Big box office doesn't mean quality.

    46. 46

It looks alright, people I know who've seen it said it was a lot better than expected. Leo has always been awesome, combined with Martins backing I think this will be golden!

    47. 47

it was amazing. now you all need to read the book. WAY better.

    48. 48

It was a great movie, very intense.

    49. 49

Re: Be-Atch – you're fucking out of your mind. leo is gorgeous.

    50. 50

the review on e! online said it was a D but i thought it was a B+.. super twisty but good overall.. accents weren't that great but the story made up for it. recommended for sure.

    51. 51

It had many things that were great but overall it was not great. Convoluted, pretentious at times and it has a very annoying stop and go flow. DeCaprio as usual was fantastic but this is NOT a brilliant film as someone stated. 2 1/2 out of 5 stars.

    52. 52

looks like martin just let rip a foul old man fart and leo is gritting his teeth saying "you stinky fucker".

    53. 53

Re: Pink_whitediamond – Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese doesn't exactly scream crappy movie.

    54. 54

It was so confusing. I will never watch it again lol.

    55. 55

I love Leo.. but this film looks too scary for me! Otherwise I would see it! Maybe on dvd ill watch..

    56. 56

This is exactly like "Gothica" except BORING. Wow…

    57. 57

Anyone who says the ending to this movie was predictable wasn't paying attention and probably doesn't even know the real ending!

    58. 58

      Great movie!

    59. 59

does anyone else think this movie is kinda like the wickerman (with nicholas cage)? mediocre. not geat.

    60. 60

It was a book for 7 years before it was a movie

    61. 61

It was ok… to long as several people mentioned… ending blew monkeys… what flow the movie had was killed by the end… Scorse is great and Leo has had a few good movies but being that I have no interest in having sex with either of them, my opinion isn't as biased as some here ;-)

    62. 62

      Of course it's #1. I loves Leo!

    63. 63

He's handsome. I think I saw his pics on Rich ki ss.c om. And the profile is attractive, sincere and sexy. Maybe it's kidding. Maybe he's lonely? Who knows the fact?

    64. 64

Leo is a fabulous actor. I love it when **real** actors receive box office success :) I may actually break down and pay to see this one.

    65. 65

i always found his movies to be over-rated, and over acted. His last film, THE DEPARTED was hugely over acclaimed, as the original Infernal Affairs, was far superior. To me he is just an old guy playing the "look I'm an old guy, this may be my last film. so go see it."

      I prefered his early material.

      Besides, he's too Hollywood

    66. 66

I have seen it!!! It was so damn good, amazing job!!

    67. 67

its a really good movie… just a little different

    68. 68

yeah it kicked ass it had me thinking one way right to the ending credits, and you cant really say any more without giving away the movie

I know a ton of people who saw it this weekend and I can tell you this: People with brains LOVED this move. People without brains hated it.

    70. 70

Saw it last night. Was ok, but nothing like the previews led you to believe. Why do the studios always make them look better in the preview and then you watch the movie and feel cheated??? It's so misleading. The movie wasn't scary at all, I was quite disappointed. It's one of those movies you want to watch over and over again to see if you can finally understand it.

    71. 71

      Re: ScarlettDice
Don't do that! Leo is my man.
      -/-X
Saw the movie it's just another holocaust propoganda film trying to make people believe it reallly happened; and I thought Martin was Italian but must be rockin the horns too.

    72. 72

I did like this, the story line was good, however it was a little to predictable, i told my date that i was with " i bet he's crazy & this is his fantasy world were watching " and i was right. well worth the money, but dissapointing because of the predictabilty. xo sorry

    73. 73

I saw the movie, it was confusing but reallly good!

    74. 74

I heard its good–will probably watch it tomorrow. :)

    75. 75

This movie was by far the worst piece of cinematic art i've ever seen… the dialogue and acting was so uninspired i couldn't even believe leonardo dicaprio..awful plot too. i wanted my money back

    76. 76

I loved this movie! Leo is amazing as usual!

    77. 77

I started to fall asleep at the end …but the twists in the plot were interesting.

    78. 78

It's an amazing movie, definitely another classic from the two.

    79. 79

      Worst movie ever!!

    80. 80

this movie was soooo amazing! i loved it! ive always like leo but this is the first movie where hes the main actor that really made me think he really is a great actor

    81. 81

Love Leo. Have loved him for years. The movie was alright, but the music in the background??? What in the world? It was too intense. I liked the plot, but the music may have ruinded the overall effect of the movie. He could have had his shirt off a little more too, that may have helped me drown out the terrible music bursts…

    82. 82

I saw it on Saturday… I have no idea why it's rated R. Here in Canada, it's only 14A.

    83. 83

It was a good movie but very weird. I liked it. Leonardo did a great job as usual.

    84. 84

Shutter Island was mind-blowingly brilliant. Stunning in every way.

    85. 85

I'm so looking forward to seeing this movie!! Saw the trailer and it was very goooooood, the only thing is that i still need a babysitter before my hubbie and i can go see this movie. anyone living in the Netherlands?

    86. 86

Martin and Leo have teamed up to create an absolutely brilliant movie.

One of the best mind-teasers I have seen in years.. and it takes alot for me to say that!

Intelligent people will love this. The rest will not.
