BAFTAs Upset, The Hurt Locker Beats Avatar!
Wow!
Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker swept the BAFTAs yesterday winning best film, best director, best original screenplay, best cinematography, best sound and best editing!
As for Avatar, the movie won both the special visual effects and production design categories.
Kathryn said during her speech for Best Director:
"I think the secret to directing is collaboration, and I was so lucky to have an incredible cast and crew. This is deeply moving — we all felt an incredible responsibility to honor the courage of the men and women in the field."
Other winners of the night included Colin Firth in A Single Man for best actor, Carey Mulligan in An Education for best actress, Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds for best supporting actor and Mo'Nique in Precious for best supporting actress.
Oh yeah, and Kristen Stewart was named the Orange Rising Star. WTF?!

Yeah people are bashing The Hurt Locker like, 'WTF is that'. I saw it, it was intense and real. Makes you appreciate what these people are doing for their country. Won't be surprised if they won big at the Oscars too.
Well the orange rising star is voted for by the public. So Kristen got the most votes- I'm guessing because of twilight fans, personally I voted for Carey because I think she has talent and I'm glad she won best actress.

The Hurt Locker is the superior movie. It's original, heart wrenching and has a solid plot and storyline.
Avatar or Dances with Smurfs is nothing more than special effects.
Kristen deserved that award last night… she is a talented actress and i dont care what people say about her and she looked absolutly stunning as well.
I have liked Kristen a long time as an actress and she deserves to win this because she is a good actress, but she mostly won this because of the Twi-hards fans.
She will do other movies in the further that she will get prices for because of the acting and not the movie.
In Twilight, almost no one could act well but in other movies, the cast are good.
They only won because it's another American war movie!!

Well, actually The Hurt Locker is a better movie than Avatar. If you take out all the special effects and dazzling colors, you don't have much else. The Hurt Locker should win at least Best Director. She made war real- the hell, the fear, the horror. Congrads for beating the ex-husband.

I am such a Christoph Waltz fan and I think he is a true class act with such humility, modesty and TALENT TALENT TALENT… I hope he wins everything especially the OSCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

The BAFTA awards are a joke. I know the Hurt Locker was good. By Kristen Stewart has no BUSINESS winning the rising star award. Come she won over those other actors…PLEASE!!! But, I just found out the dumb Twilighter voted her in…THAT ALONE SHOWS IT IS A BIG JOKE.
"Hurt Locker"…soooo damn boring. I don't get the Big Love for this snoozer. Intense, yet. Well-made, yes. Nicely performed, yes. And YET fucking boring. Had this been directed by a male, this movie would not be winning awards.
