"When my father was going public, that's when I hit rock bottom. I abused substances too much and it wasn't the answer to my problems.On her coping mechanisms:
"I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine, and mind-altering substances. Now I'm in a place where I don't need to use anything and I feel emotions because I choose to.On learning lessons:
"I never want to be close to losing everything I worked for and aspired to have my whole life. I've made some dreadful mistakes but learned from them - that has probably saved my life."On drugs:
"I was only aware of cocaine because of my dad. I was terrified of it. But I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid and wanted to see what it was like. It's not something I ever want to do again. It made me feel like s**t. It became uninteresting to me. I'm hyper anyway and I have that kind of personality, so I don't need something like that."On the reason for rehab:
"The first time I checked myself in because I had taken Ambien. It's a sleeping aid but it makes you hallucinate.I'd run a bath and fallen asleep on the floor and it overflowed. When I woke up, I was so scared I called my therapist and said, 'Can I just go somewhere for a month? I'm around bad people and I need to take care of myself.' I was terrified, so I put my name in."

There is no way that little long island girl uses words like "Dreadful" That is a word most likely used by some Brit she hired to send in her written responses to the questions. Additionally, part of curing drug use is admitting responsibility in she keeps trying to blame everything on her father. Sorry Lindsay, he isn't around you, you are estranged and he is not the one shoveling coke into your nose. And you didn't hit rock bottom because he spoke to the press…from the fact that you are admitting to drugs, it sounds like everything he said was true and that was the only thing that got your attention and caused you to admit the problem. The guy is a douche, but it sounds like he got you to admit there is a problem…unlike that mother of yours.

it seems like she likes to blame her dad for all her problems. She was on drugs prior to her dad being vocal to the news. Her own mother said that she would hit her and scream at her when she tried to convince her not to move to LA by herself.

Sounds like she's in deep denial. Ambien is not an addictive med. It's a dependent one. You don't have withdrawal symptoms (other than you may not go to sleep right away) if you don't take it. So why would she go to rehab if that was the only med she was taking?
Same thing happened to me with the ambien…my parents still probably think I'm nuts to this day…
She also said that she was really sorry about driving under the influence, that she thanks god every day that no one got hurt. I actually think she is being genuine and do not understand the double standard when certain celebrities talk about their problems they get a pat on the back and than when others do its called a publicity stunt. Leave the girl alone, she is admitting that she had a problem, she is clearly trying to get her shit together, she has a new movie(Robert Rodriguez's Machete) with Robert De Niro and Jessica Alba coming out soon. She is trying to get her life back so let her be and give her the benefit of the doubt. People like Perez Hilton have never done anything productive in their lives but tearing down celebrities like Lohan(who are going trough a hard time). What has Perez Hilton ever done? has he made a movie? music? contributed to the entertainment industry in any way. He is a horrible, horrible human being who will get his as Karma is quite the bitch.
If she really admitted all this, then I'm proud of her. I remember a time she would deny even DRINKING, but it's better than she comes out and admits it, it's the first step to recovery.
I don't feel sorry for this twat at all. She pissed her career down the toilet so she could party. She is irrelevant and a has-been. There are so many more talented, deserving actresses out there. Go back to the gutters of Jersey Blowhan.

She may still be a bit screwed up but at least she is being honest about her issues. Sometimes it takes years and years for people to really get clean and stay that way so give her a break. It's not like anyone is complaining about not seeing "I know who killed me… again." We're not missing out on any true talent here.
Indeed, since her Dad was arrested a few years ago, she started going downhill. We don't get to choose our parents and sometimes we get crap. She should not let him win and move on with her life.
An essential thing she said is why she takes drugs: to mask emotions. She apparently does not do it for the sensation of getting high. She owns some things, not anywhere near enough. She's still blaming her father too much, her company, and it sounds so much like Dina in many ways. What has she learned reflected by today's actions and not words. She still goes out frequently, she still has questionable associates, and how can we say one way or another if she's not on illegal or prescription drugs? She admits she can drink if she desires. Lindsay shows she needs much more extensive therapy than she is currently getting.
