Johnny Weir To Hold Press Conference After Homophobic Remarks During Olympics
Shame on them!
After commentators made homophobic remarks about Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir during his free skate, he will be holding a press conference this afternoon in Vancouver to address the situation.
The Quebec Gay and Lesbian Council is demanding that two French-language broadcasters publicly apologize after making "outrageous" and "homophobic" statements about Johnny saying that he is damaging to figure skating's image and that he should be made to take a gender test!
Inappropriate!
Also in Australia, Channel Nine has been receiving viewer complaints after two hosts joked about Johnny's and other male skaters masculinity.
They should ALL apologize, but the fans have rallied behind Johnny to support him which he will also address in the press conference.
Sexuality has NOTHING to do with a person's athleticism and gay or not, Johnny is one hell of an athlete!

The two french commentators (including Philippe Candeloro, who certainly knows what he's talking about regarding ice-skating) are pretty hilarious ones, and that's also what makes the show more entertaining…
It's true that they laugh a bit and made jokes about Weir, but only about his extreme feminity (I also think he was pretty laughable with the flowers in his hair), not his sexuality… Also, the man is really despicable, so whatevs…
I agree with them…he should be skating in the women's competition. If he wants to act like a complete woman then skate with them.
