Maryland Takes A Tiny Step In The Right Direction

Maryland's Attorney General announced this morning that the state would, from here on out, recognize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere and that all Maryland agencies should begin "affording out-of-state gay couples all the rights they have been awarded in other places. "
Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler firmly stated: "State agencies in Maryland will recognize out-of-state gay marriages as of right now."
Yes! Thank you Maryland for lending a hand to cause!

An attorney general does not have that kind of authority; he is not a king, and cannot issue decrees. It will definitely be challenged, and the chances are excellent that the voters will disagree with that guy. If he's elected to his position, I'm guessing he'll also lose his job. It's not enough for one man to embrace a cause on behalf of the people. The majority will carry the day. The end.

Good on you!!! I am still in disbelief that this is an issue. Gay marriage has been legal in Canada for years and I totally support it. My friend who moved to San Fran is thinking of marrying his partner up in our hometown of Toronto. Hello? How many gay people live in California? Esp San Fran? I hope at some point all of America will legally allow gay marriage. Yay Maryland. Coming from a girl who loves men.
