Growing Pains Actor Found Dead

Very sad news.
The body of missing actor Andrew Koenig was discovered on Thursday in Vancouver.
The Growing Pains star, who suffered from depression, had been missing for over a week.
"My son took his own life," said father Walter Koenig, an actor himself (Star Trek alum) who spoke at a press conference in Vancouver on Thursday afternoon.
His body was found in Vancouver's Stanley Park.
"We've already said what a great guy he was and (what) a good human being. He was obviously in a lot of pain," said the elder Koenig. Of others suffering from depression, he adds: "If you can learn anything from this, it's that there are people out there who really care. So before you make that final decision, check it out and talk to somebody."
Sad. Sad. Sad.
But we agree with Walter, suicide is NOT the answer!

Re: yagottabejokin – I lost my brother to suicide just this past november. He had made multiple attempts before. My family tried everything they could to help him, but when a person makes that final decision I believe it is out of their hands and they are granted permission by God to finally ease their suffering. In retrospect there were a lot of MAJOR signs that he was about to do this, but as any family who has unfortunately gone through this they know that hindsight is 20/20. After watching this on the news last night I noticed that he did a lot of the same things my brother did right before. My heart goes out to the family because I know how much they are hurting.
Re: jessicaone0 – you are so right this idiot just cant seem to get it
Re: BossGuns – I think is clear that you need far more help then Scotty 37. I sincerely hope you get it.
wow just wow…. poor chekov
guy prolly couldnt find employment he should have gone to work aboard a "nuclear wessel"
D.E.P. very sad.
Bunch of idiots commenting on this post … you too Perez. If you had ANY idea what it's like to live with depression or any mental illness you wouldn't have to ask WHY.
Saying things like, "things can never be that bad" & "that's very selfish." Take off your rose colored glasses!! Things CAN be that bad - ESPECIALLY without meds.
People need more education & understanding of mental illness - enough with the stigma.
This sucks. I was hoping he'd be alive. What a cute guy, I'm suprised he wasn't working more.
R.I.P. — what a tragedy. My thoughts are with his family & friends.
This makes me so sad. It's sucks when someone is that depressed they take their own life… =( It's too bad he didn't get the help he needed.
Re: LusciousLiz –
God VERY WELL SAID!!!! =) I was waiting for someone to say something to this douche.
he actually killed himself in Stanley Park because it was his favourite place to go. He loved it there.. and I can understand why. I live in Vancouver and it's an amazing place!
Suicide WAS the answer for him. Now he's not depressed any more. He did seek help, he did have meds, he did have family. He could have hung around until age 80 but why do it? We all have to die, and he was determinist, good for him. Much better than creating two-three kids who might suffer the same misery…..suicide is to me much less "sad" than someone's getting killed by a drunken driver or "school shooter." it was HIS life, he owned the rights to it. He didn't do this impulsively, he had time to think about it. I say bravo. And I love Stanley Park!
Re: zooby – Do you know people who have to take pills just to get them through the day? People who can't be bothered to dress themselves, clean the house, eat, go out because they think 'what's the point anyway'? People who think this way 24/7 week in week out? No? Then you don't get it.
R.I.P.!!!

So sorry to hear that!
Re: cumwhore –
Have a heart, huh?
Re: BossGuns – Oh you are such a sad piece of shit. Clearly you are as ignorant as a fly, don’t quote books or sentences you can’t understand or even fathom, idiot. There are many mental illnesses – not just one. There is one called BPD (if you have no idea what that is, look it up) in fact just f..king look it up, and swallow your words and while you are at it, I hope you choke on them.
You are such a blatant, misinformed hollow excuse for a human being.
I almost cried when i saw the press conference. I feel so bad for the father for having to announce that his own sonw as dead. Prayers and condolences go out to the family.
