Sadly, Leslie was involved in a tragic accident several months ago. He is no longer living on the streets, however, he is also no longer able to live on his own. Austin considers him a treasure. There's a line of merchandise dedicated to Leslie that's still available somewhere around here.

Leslie is a local celebrity in Austin. He even dresses like that in january. If you come to town for SXSW you will see him downtown.
Leslie is awesome! I am 26 and have lived in Austin my whole life, and I can hardly remember a time when Leslie wasn't around. He ran for mayor once! Unfortunately, back in October he was attacked and was in the hospital for several weeks after a severe head injury. He cannot live alone anymore. We all love Leslie and miss seeing him around town!

Re: ChloeLK – hey chloe (haha my name is chloe, too!) anyways, hes not dead. he was released from the hospital, but he can't wander off in the streets for a while. he would wear a thong in freezing weather! craziness. he has a lot of brothers and sisters (i think he is one of 8 kids) and they help take care of him. surprisingly he had a REALLY high IQ before his accident. google "leslie cochran" and you can see updates on his health, etc
As you can see, I love Leslie! He he OUTrageous and a freak but the guy is actually really smart. Just so happend we have the same jacket, but he looks better in the hooters outfit, orange is not my color!

I am glad Austin loves Leslie. When he had a seizure and went in to a coma so many people came forward to help him. Some times I think if he lived anywhere else he would be harmed. Hey people, stop calling Leslie mentally ill! He's more sane than a lot of people I know. I've known Leslie for years and used to give him rides to do his laundry. He's an awesome, chill guy. Earlier this year he had an awful head injury and we thought we were going to lose him for a few weeks, but he made a miracle recovery! Leslie has more class than (wo)man ever could!!!!!!
Leslie is Austin's unofficial mascot - we've even got fridge magnets with a barely-clad magnet of Les with magnet clothes you can stick on him. He's amazing! Although, I could be biased…he always hangs out on the intersection next to the building I work in.

leslie is an outstanding man…he actually likes to be referred to as a man…he is a peace activist in austin who brings a smile to everyone who crosses his path…he is always down to stop and chat to strangers and friends alike…he is not a freak, but a human with an amazing spirit…i do not find him disgusting, repulsive, embarrassing, nor is he mentally ill…i understand the need for others to be negative and scornful when they dont have an icon like this to show how wonderful people can be…but please be mindful that he is a spiritual being just like everyone else…live and love strong, leslie…austin adores you!
