R.I.P.

Sad news in the sports world.
Professional free skier C.R. Johnson has passed away.
The 26-year-old fell while skiing at California's Squaw Valley yesterday.
According to reports, Johnson fell face first and then spun around before hitting the back of his head on several rocks! And despite wearing a helmet at the time, the impact was just too much, causing him to die on the slopes.
Olympic Alpine medalist Julia Mancuso even dedicated her last run in the Olympics this Thursday to Johnson.
Mancuso stated on her blog:
"These 2010 Olympics are almost done for me. This last run is for CR Johnson. Gonna rip it for you!!! CR was in Salt Lake City at my first Olympics, cheering for me. I know your here now and with everyone when they ski and push their limits. RIP."
Back in 2005, Johnson suffered a serious injury when he ended up in a coma for 10 days after another skier accidentally landed on him during a run.
Johnson spent 34 days in the hospital and several months in rehab, but that didn't stop him from doing what he loved.
So sad.

Are your thoughts not with his family during this difficult time? Wow you sure are a cold hearted bastard Perez.
Man, that's a horrible way to go. I'm not familiar with you, but C.R., I'm sure you were a badass, buddy. Rest in peace.
Also, I can see the Bay Bridge in the background of the picture, which makes me a bit nostalgic for my home of San Francisco. Well…South San Francisco.
So sad. But, at least he died doing what he loves to do! May he R.i.P. and his family find all the comfort they need!
R.I.P. Inspired many and helped change the way people look at skiing.
I knew C.R. and he was a total rockstar. This is heartbreaking, but I know he is shredding up the heavenly sky now…. R.I.P.
In the ski world there was not a better person. As a photographer I remember calling CR's mom for permission for him to go to argentina when he was only 17. He grew into one of the most influential and dominating Halfpipe/big air skiers of his time. First man to do a 900 in the halfpipe at the xgames A good friend, who I will miss forever. I belive he is in a better place, he always had an old soul. RIP CR FOREVER! You know I'LL be seein you sooner than later
CR was one of the best people I ever knew. I was a photographer for a ski magazine at the time and remember calling his mom for permission so he could join us for a couple of months skiing in Argentina. It was his first trip as a pro skiier. He grew and overcame and was the first skiier to land a 900 in the halfpipe. He was a godfather of halfpipe and freeskiing in general. Love the guy, will miss him. A bit too sad to be eloquent.
