Sean Penn Is A Hero!
What an amazing act of bravery!
Sean Penn is currently in Haiti, attempting to help in the relief effort. Yesterday, he went above and beyond the call of duty and saved the lives of a woman and orphaned baby who had been terribly injured from the rubble of a collapse building.
Sean and his daughter Dylan drove an hour- and-a-half to rescue the woman and child, trapped in rubble outside Port-au-Prince, probably from an aftershock. Penn was able to removed them from the area, and drive them back to the University of Miami hospital camp in Port-au-Prince. Both woman and child had severe injuries and Sean did not leave until he knew they were adequately treated. From there, he took the pair back to his place and has agreed to let them stay there for as long as it takes to find them a safe place to go.
Talk about heroism and kindness!
We're proud of you, Sean! Everyone else should be too!

But keep in mind… many of us don't have millions of dollars to fly to Haiti and provide housing for people. They are celebrities, and part of being a celebrity is using your money to give back….
Getting PR for his good deeds is still part of the hollywood game. If only the rest of the world was put on a pedastol for their good deeds, and not just celebrities.
That does not make him a hero. He was there and helped. That is good and all but don't go overboard. Almost anyone in the world would have helped if they were there.

wow i love it. Senn is the best. Now thats a real celeb to me. Went all out to help ppl during Katrina also. To me he's a real man, puts himself in dangerous areas just to help out someone i need. Need more ppl like him in this world
This is a bullshit story. It's exactly the same as when Tom Cruise's publicist before he went totally crazy used to release all those stories about him rescuing stranded boaters etc…. If Penn was REALLY a hero you would never hear about this because he wouldn't be trying to whore out this B.S. story for publicity.
I find it hilarious that Angelina Jolie put her ass on a luxury yatch to get to Haiti for like… a day and get herself some publicity, before fucking off to go play dress up and shoot a movie.

That is awesome!!! It is so good to see celebrities helping out, making a difference and showing compassion to others! Sandra Bullock also confirmed with E! News that she donated 1 million dollars to Haiti! It is good to see that they are helping other people when they are in need and even saving lives!! Well done Penn family!!

Great that he took his daughter with him on this mission — hopefully he is not toting his rifle around the way he did when "helping" Katrina victims. He is a talented actor but too often his GIANT EGO — and nonsensical mouthing off disguised as political statements — overshadow his work. His former wife should get a halo for putting up with him.

And to take it just a step further, if only the rest of the world were well paid for their jobs and not just celebrities and atheletes but people who make a real difference in our lives, right down to the box boy at the grocery store! Why is it that someone who plays pretend all day gets millions, free stuff, life of luxury, etc. and a firefighter has to hope for overtime to make ends meet?
People criticize him for a lot of things, but he has good intentions and gets things done, and without calling the paparazzi or reality TV producers to follow him around.
Sean is a great actor and this was a real act of kindness just wish he had less of a Bono-Like Messiah complex

What a coincidence there happened to be a trapped family 90 minutes away (apparently with no other help in sight) and he became a hero - just as he's facing charges that could send him back to prison again. Im sure this will be brought up when the the battery sentencing is considered…. Sounds like his PR worked overtime for this. Or his attorney.
something tells me penn would not approve of your crowning him a 'hero' — he is a man with a conscience and lucky enough to have a lot of money to be able to go and help. think about the real heroes–the people of haiti who have had to endure this horrible tragedy and somehow still find the strength to go on.
Well, he tries. It's too bad he has to beat the shit out of every woman he attempts to live with. At least now with advancing years and with a daughter of his own , he shouldn't be terrorizing as many of them. I think he's a sensitive soul and wants to make up for the bad he's done, which I think he's well aware of. Flawed human, but he doesn't just sit in a room and drink, either. I think if he hadn't been born rich and priveleged, he'd have been a kick-ass military man. He was seriously convincing in those roles, even when he was very young.
It's called human decency. There should be nothing extraordinary about it.
people just need to be thankful anyone goes out of their way to help someone. Penn has an extensive history of helping when others have not. People need to realize that some people are going to get publicity whether they want it or not. That goes for the good stuff as well as the bad. And why the need to pick apart the good deeds of celebrities just because they are celebrities? I think that that behavior is disgusting and seems to be the American way. Spoiled , jealous little shits.
Yeah, he drove an hour and half to get to a scene for the photo op. I'm sure there were plenty of others handling the situation, but Penn needed some face time, and now the "glory" of "saving" someone.
He wants to help and not just send a check. The press calls him a hero. I don't think he's calling himself one. Penn's been doing this type of personal investigative work for quite a while and does what he can when he's wherever he is. And no, he could have stood by and left it to others or whatever professional rescue crews that might have been there…but he choose to get his hands dirty and help out. Can he help it if the world has things like papparazzi, 24 hour news feeds and the internet, that all need stuff to fill its spaces? Plus, I just found out he helps operate the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization that's treated 40,000 people and gotten 100,000 lbs of medical supplies to Haiti. This is not the act of a Johnny-come-lately who's looking for a quick photo-op.
