Here is a first peek at the production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies, the sequel to the widely successful Phantom of the Opera. In the role of the Phantom is Ramin Karimloo, whose no stranger to the stage as he has played the Phantom and Raoul in two separate productions of the original musical.

As for Christine, the part has gone to Sierra Boggess best known for her debut at the title character in The Little Mermaid.

At least the staging looks to be keeping to the original eeriness of the Phantom.

Thoughts?

i'll give it a chance since ALW is at the helm, but i'm skeptical

its just a rehash of the same boring subject. sure POTO is a legend in music theater, but do we really need to pay the $85+ per seat to see a show that is about to release the rights for the rest of the world to do? Let's see something new and leave the classics alone.

I am sooo excited. Can't wait until it opens in New York. I think it will be fabulous without a doubt!

I think this is going to be an epic flop.

I love the original, it is my favorite show. I'm cautiously optimistic about this new one, but have one issue with these photos. Christine looks older, as she should since this is supposed to take place years later, but the Phantom looks to young. He actually looks younger than the original. Doesn't seem like good casting to me.

Boo! When you have something as AMAZING as The Phantom Of The Opera… Don't go ruin it by making a sequel that will NEVER be as good. Two Thumbs Down

I've heard mixed reviews from London. Too bad I like the video they did, but is it just me or is the makeup a little much?

I watched the play last week and i can tellyou first hand that the play is amazing. It might not be as good as the original POTO but it was definately worth the wait. And Ramin makes a pretty fantastic phantom

I saw it and it was really good and Karimloo has a fantastic voice

Saw the sequel and I must say, hands down, the WORST show I've seen EVER. I thought ALW's last show (Woman in White) was bad…this Phantom 'returns' sequel was the most upsetting production I've ever seen. The story line was awful (why would the entire gang move to New York??), when did Phantom ever sleep with Christine?, Why did Raoul become a drunk? Not to mention, the music was appalling. It sounded like Webber recycled his own music from past shows (Sunset Blvd, Woman in White, etc.). Where is the creativity here folks? DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. DO NOT SEE THIS SHOW.

I don't have an issue with how young the guy playing the phantom looks. I think if he has the voice for it, the part should go to him. But that's just it. I just heard a sample on YouTube and while the guy's voice is okay, he sounds too young to be the phantom. Also, it's pretty ridiculous that the phantom is the kid's father, although I guess it could have happened after "Music of the Night" when she passes out. But then that would make the Phantom a rapist! And how are we supposed to feel empathy for a rapist?

I feel that a sequel would not be a good move since The Phantom of The Opera was so haunting the way it was. I would rather not know every detail of what might have happened but leave it the way it was.

theres no need for a sequel, it undermines the message of the original
