Kendra Wilkinson Suffered From Postpartum Depression
Oh no! This must have been so hard for her.
Kendra Wilkinson is opening up about being a mom and the major challenge that came with it - depression. The Girls Next Door star admitted that shortly after giving birth to her first son with husband Hank Baskett, she became completely depressed. She confessed:
“I never brushed my hair, my teeth or took a shower. I looked in the mirror one day and was totally depressed … A couple of times, I even said, ‘I just have nothing to live for.’”
So sad, considering you have everything to live for, bb!
Part of the depression came from being a first time mother and not knowing what to expect, but Kendra admits that the hardest part of those first few months was moving from California to Indianapolis so hubby Hank could be closer to his team.
She explains:
“It was new to me — the snow and the cold. I love running and hiking. I had a hard time being trapped inside. I’d look outside and think how much I wished I could go to the beach again."
But Kendra confesses that the time is behind her now and with both her boys by her side, along with the rest of her family, she was able to make it through the bad times.
We're proud of you, bb! Everyone gets down, but when you get back up again, it shows the true person you are!

If she was really depressed she would have sought help and she wouldn't be talking about it like its a phase, this is actually a disease that affects millions every day.

Bullshit…WHEN did this have time to happen? Depression has to occur for weeks…otherwise she just had the baby blues. She was in shape and on the cover of a magazine in a bikini just a few weeks ago. No way she had post partum depression during that same time. I had it 3 times, and I resent the hell out of this bitch and false bravado about something she obviously did not have.

That really doesn't sound like she was depressed. It sounds like she was selfish and self-indulgent and had a temper tantrum.
I wish more women would realize that having a baby is not all sunshine and butterflies and giggles. It can completely rip your world apart, it can throw you into depression and turn your life into a living hell for months. Good for Kendra for sharing her tough times, but I don't quite buy the whole 'that time is behind her' bit…that sounds like something a postpartum woman says to convince the world that her life is wonderful and perfect, and it rarely is that simple.

i got 2 boys and 2 girls. my girls gave me postpartum depression so i understand what she's going through. she's a first time mama, and moved from everything she knew. give her a break! I'm happy to hear she's back on track. God bless her and her new family

Change is hard, but people run or walk in snow and cold all the time. It can be exhilarating. Just dress for it. That's also why gyms or running tracks do well if you prefer company; or buy a good treadmill. You can watch a whole movie while you run. She just needs substitute behavior that fills the gaps and makes her happy.
Ya I know exactly what she means. I moved after being pregnate for first time and it tore me open. Then when I had my child-I suffered severe depression. It's the stress and worrying. Mothers never stop stressing and worrying. It's part of our instincts.

Now, you have not been told whether or not she was clinically diagnosed, but not everyone gets diagnosed. It is quite common for mothers not to be diagnosed with it because they are embarrassed about it! We should be applauding her for speaking out about it, so that mothers in need can go get help!
