Although it's been a long time since Smashing Pumpkins had a hit, Billy Corgan opens up to Rolling Stone about his spiritual beliefs, deep depression and his love of Jessica Simpson. Ha!

So, Gish was the best Pumpkins album. Money and fame hit with Siamese Dream. Billy likes being the dark brooding artist, so it feeds in well to isolationism, or being surrounded by people too afraid to lose their income to tell him he's wrong or delusional. Sunshine continually gets pumped up his ass about how great, smart and wonderful he is. He starts to lose it bit by bit as far as sanity, because his every whim is jizzed upon by his entourage. He doesn't have the balls to actually kill himself, so he joins in with conspiracy theorists about the whole doom of 2012 bullshit, hoping that he'll die in the mayhem. He doesn't have original or worth while thoughts about anything, so he again piles on with fringe group-think about H1N1 etc. because it still portrays him as "edgy" and "deep" to the losers who follow him.
He should just ball up and slit his wrists if his life is that bad. Then, I don't have to read his bullshit proselytizing about how he should be considered one of the best artists in the world, when he hasn't done anything worth a shit in 15 years.
He is a great guy who makes good music! All you losers go back to listening to Gaga or Beyonce, I prefer the Smashing Pumpkins any day, at least they write there own fucking music.
I'm a somewhat-fan of the Pumpkins, but don't know much about Corgan. That said, I really love what he said about govt. and suicide. While his theories on 2012 are a little iffy, I agree with the H1N1 suspicions and how he's questioning our govt's authority (too many celebs are afraid to come out and say it!).
As for the suicide part, that's exactly what I think… but I'm not depressed, lol. I've never, even remotely, considered suicide, but when it comes down to it… either you are or you aren't, and people spend a lot of time dwelling on that. So either you eat breakfast or you commit and kill yourself. Seems logical to me.
He has always been a lunatic. He and Courtney Love need to get back together. Sounds like they are 2 peas in a pod.

I'll tell you what happened to him : supposed self-sufficiency. In the 1990's, he had little or no confidence, a persistent depression and friends that were his only source of happiness. They were also the filter for all of the crap that he produced. As of the Smashing Pumpkins break-up, he was left with just his depression, no friends and the belief that HE alone was the source of every hit the Smashing Pumpkins produced. To me, the same way that George Harrison needed Paul and John to let him know that some of his stuff sucked, Billy needed James, Jimmy and D'Arcy to let him know that some of his stuff just sounds awful.
Billy is smarter than the rest of us and I'm not being sarcastic either…he's brilliant and thinks outside the box…unlike most people.
Many people who visit this site have very little artistic imagination. People tend to criticize what they don't understand. An artist's perception is a very special thing. Hey Billy - glad you're a believer, like me. Hopefully more of the sheep will wake up and start questioning what's actually going on in this world.
