Chuck E. Cheese Bans Gangs!
Proactive — especially for this chain!
The Chuck E. Cheese in Harlem has posted new rules about attire and weaponry in the place "where a kid can be a kid." The new rules state:
"No gang-style apparel, including but not limited to hats, shirts, buckles, bandanas, towels. No gang-type conduct or behavior, including verbal slogans, greetings, hand signs or intimidation.
"No weapons or tools or any sort whatsoever; including knives, chains, screwdrivers, glass cutters."
But some customers seem to think it's ridiculous because it perpetuates the negative sterotype of Harlem. Says customer Tish Payne:
"It's ridiculous. I don't see gangs going into Chuck E. Cheese's. They probably put the sign up because of the location. It's adding to the stereotype that Harlem is trying to deviate from."
With Chuck E. Cheese's track record though we think it's better to be safe than sorry!

hahaha geez! are people trying to get into chuck e cheese or a club?!?! clubs in California (san jose) pretty much dont allow the same attire. But then again, not bring knives and shit like that is kind of like a no brainer….for most at least.

Geez. Chuckie Cheese has become waaay too dangerous. Just have a party at home, people. My kids hated Chuckie Cheese and were creeped out by the weird moving puppet things. Smart boys.
No more Chuck. E.Cheese, you post it so much i'm amazed it doens't have its own category you. This is boring crap, it isn't important at all. No more. If this is a restaurant that is doing bad then it needs GOOD publicity, not the bad crap you put on this site. Yes i'm aware that this is your blog and you can do whatever you want with it, but this is my advice (as well as other peoples advice) to you. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Re: tallchick – It's a restaurant/arcade for little children so yes it should be brought to the public eye when you go in to an establishment thinking your children are going to be playing and safe. No one want to hear how great it is when you're having fight after fight and dangerous things happening in them. I myself have taken my child there when he was younger and that place sucks! People (kids and parents) are rude, pushy etc… Keep posting, maybe you can have this place shut down!

I live in SLC and you would be surprised how scary Chuck E. Cheese is even here. I was there a year ago (haven't been back) and couldn't believe the trash there. Here I was walking my three year old in and over heard a conversation of two gang members talking about a drive by the night before. Needless to say, we won't be going back.
My boyfriend and I went to this Chuck E. Cheese (yes, the one in Harlem) on our first date. We were walking back from a movie theater and thought it might be fun since he had never been there before. It was the most romantic, magical moment I never had. We got out of the Chuck E. Cheese and I saw that it had started snowing. We've been together for 15 months now and continue to go back to that Chuck E. Cheese.
A while ago I was at a chuck E Cheese and a fight broke out because the cashier wouldn't give a lady and her posse a by one get one free deal..They didn't even offer a deal like that…The lady started calling the girl a racist and she got really really loud. The manager stepped in and almost got beat up it was like a riot people where coming out of the woodwork. A few off duty officers were there and had to escort the lady and her posse of 20 out the door. I'll never ever go back..Ever…

Seriously, when did chuck e cheeses become a black hang out?? When I was little, it wasn't like that. I live in the suburbs of Saint Louis, and the Chuck e cheeses out here is in a mostly white neighborhood, and I went a few weeks ago, and it was NOTHING but black families. I was surprised!
If all the chuck e cheeses in America are like that, then I can understand if an area like Harlem would have to post something like that. And it's actually pretty sad that you would have to. Is someone so uneducated that they don't know that they SHOULD'NT bring in a weapon to a childrens restaurant? Or promote gang activity? It's sad.
the ban they have is what is banned at most schools. it's fine. but, like I posted before, there are over 500 chuck e cheeses. 500. and alot of people take their kids there when the kids drive them CRAZY and they want a babysitter. of course, with the noise, over crowding, etc. fights will break out… but WHY ARE YOU SOOOO FASCINATED WITH CEC? ARE YOU DYING TO GO PLAY WITH THE LITTLE BOYS THERE AND THEY DO NOT LET YOU IN BECAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE A CHILD WITH YOU?

Hey Tish- FACTS ARE FACTS! It has nothing to do with racism. If communities with track records of less than stellar crime stats want to have places like Chuck E Cheese's in their community; it's necessary to have rules such as these. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, guess what? It's probably a duck. Let's protect ALL children from potential threats such as the ones that have happened in the last year or so at this establishment….

um…the chuck e in south county posted the same rules of conduct. It's for all the chuck e's now. We don't see the gang's but the security guards know who they are when they walk in.
