I'm a nerd and i don't care for it. I have an Ipod, Iphone and a Macbook Pro…it's really not worth.

Looks dumb, I already have my iPhone and iPod Touch so that's all I need.

Ok people are being totally retarded, this thing only costs $499! I won't be buying one because I already have an iPhone and it doesn't do much more than my iPhone, but I can see myself maybe buying it a year from now when they release the second-generation with a camera of some sort.

It's too big! Before I found out how big it was, I was actually considering to buy it.

I'm a nerd too…don't want it, have the iPhone, two iMacs and getting a MacBook in the future. Bring us a MacBook PRO with BLU-RAY, and I"m in. Don't want this thing tho…the name sucks too!

I'll be first in line to add this to my iPhone, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. The iPad is priced well and promises to be another hit product for Apple. This too will be another Apple product that other companies will imitate shortly.

y'all be hatin this product because of these reasons: your broke ass doesn't have any money so you have nothing better to do than try to bring thing product down or anyone who wants one down. Two, your someone who has never given Apple a chance and is one of those "pc" idiots. Three, you continue to bring down Apple while they are the only innovators in the consumer electronics world today. When was the last time an Apple product failed? The Ipod was a revolutionary product. Then came the IMAC, and amazing all in one computer than NO ONE can compete with. The iPhone, no need to comment here. While the IPAD is a stupid name, the product itself will likely be another huge hit for Jobs and co.

I prefer not to get the first generation, let them work out the kinks first on the initial customers. Kinda reminds me of a kindle. Wonder if it can do everything a kindle does? Doubt it, so I'll stick with my imac 21" and powerbook G4 along with my ipod.

I don't care about Apple products. They may look cool, but there's too many limitations on the products and their use. I about to buy a new phone and it will probably be an Android phone.

Also, several Apple products have failed: Apple Cyberdog, Taligent, Apple EWorld, Apple Pippin, 20th Anniversary Macintosh, Motorola ROKR, Macintosh TV, Macintosh Portable, Apple Lisa, AND MOST INTRIGUING: Apple Newton (A.K.A. - A touch screen device that people have no use for)

I'm not crazy about the name but I can totally see getting the cheapest one. Handy while sitting on the sofa, watching the TV and surfing the web. I could see having one on the coffee table the way you have books and magazines. I think it's going to be more popular than people realize but that's just my guess.

for all you people jumping on this device stop and do your research first. you can't multi-task, you can't take pictures, no adobe flash player (what about youtube?!!!!), you can't hook up a printer, you can't change the battery, and worst of all it only has 512mb!!!! that's pathetic!! you can't even find a computer for sale these days for 512 mb!

You guys have no idea what you're talking about. I don't get paid by Apple so I'm not going to sell them here but if you can surf on the internet with an iPod Touch and the iPhone, the same will apply with the iPad. And the memory is not 1 Mb. Do you remember on the Apple site where the sizes are 16G, 32G or 64G? Don't quote specs here if you don't know what you're talking about. It lists youtube on the Apple site. And apps, and all the things you can do today on a much smaller screen but without the phone. Because they have the iPhone. And they have laptops. So you either want an oversized iPod Touch or you don't. I think our family will have two or three around the house. And that's what it will be - an appliance. Like it or not, if you think Steve made a mistake here, feel free to give me your Apple stock. A lot of other professions will probably use it too, like doctors updating notes.

It is a complete waste on money. Insted of investing time and effort into a touch screen laptop, they threw out this crap pad thing that has no operating system and is useless without other apple products. They should have waited!

You'd have to be an idiot to buy the first generation. I'm going to wait for all the mac groupies to waste their money and test it out first so apple can fix the problems, put out a 2nd gen, and lower the price (like every other product they sell.) THEN I'll look into it.

I am a die hard mac fan, no doubt. but you have to admit that this is a bit redic. No, I do not own all of their gadgets, however, I have a macbook and an ipod. I absolutely love them and will never return to a pc. no offense to pc, but pc's are priced for how long they last.. spend little, keep little. I am a broke college student.. and No I could not afford to purchase a ipad if i wanted one.. which I do not. I believe that EVERYONE has to have more pressing things to do than to carry the world in their purse/pocket. I believe people 'want' more than they need. The amount of money you make should not dictate the glutenous actions you seem to believe you are entitled. Geez, your overwhelming since of entitlement due to your picket is outstanding.

I apologize, but it kills me that people believe that people dog things bc they can not afford to have what is advertised. Have you ever researched the psychological impact advertisements have on people.. it is intriguing. and scary. sorry again.. i get a little carried away with ridiculousness.

i thought about it but met a guy who was part of a beta testing group for the iPad and he told me it basically does more than an iPhone (except the camera) but less than a laptop and the size makes it inconvenient to carry…so he'd recommend sticking with a laptop at least the 2nd or 3rd generation of the iPad comes out and addresses all the complaints the 1st gen is going to generate among users.

i mean look at the iPhone and how it dropped in price so much and the laters versions were so much better. i'll wait at least 18 months before getting on probably.

Just a glorified iPhone. I'd rather wait and get the iPhone 4g.
