After catching a glimpse of her mug on Idol in HD, Ellen rounded up her own lighting crew to prevent what she believed were "unflattering" close-up shots!
"So she proceeded to order her own lighting team from her show to come over and make her look better," one insider revealed. "She had her people add lights and filters to ease her age lines."
Hey - soft lighting is a thousand times better than going down the botox road!

Ah I love Ellen she is such a sweet person and one of the funniest stand ups I ever seen. I remember OLD Ellen stand up was the first to make me laugh so hard I cried. So amazing to see her actually be THE ELLEN she is today. She definitely worked for it. Gah I think shes really funny and kind hearted too!
Wow, I didn't think Ellen cared about aging, if anything, I thought she was the type that would believe in "Aging gracefully." Oh well, if anything, she should get soft lighting and botox, then she'll look really good in HD. I don't think she looks bad or old though lol… Ellen looks Ellen!

This doesn't surprise me. I love Ellen and thinks she looks great, however, she looks much better on her talk show than on Idol. I was thinking that she should do something about it and glad to see she is - the lighting on that show is not flattering and Ellen deserves to look fab wherever she goes!

Maybe someone should put a light on why this girl has a career because I for one cannot think of one single reason. She was a terrible stand up comedian, yet she gets her own sitcom, talk show, and now she is one of the highest rated TV shows in history, American idol, even though she has absolutely nothing to do with music. I mean really, WTF? Is it a lesbian thing? Are these TV corporations run by a bunch of high ranking lesbians who feel a lesbian must be in the spotlight despite not having any discernable talent? That`s the only thing I can think of to account for this woman being thrown so many opportunities.
I do have to agree with Ellen. When I took a look at her at the judges table “ she looked horrible. I even said something to my kid. It's ALL about the lighting!!

i actually noticed that on the show. the lighting made her look a lot worse. i would have done the same thing.

Her daytime show " The Ellen Degeneres Show" has won 26+ Emmys, shes won a ton of People Choice Awards ( chosen by the people=AMERICA) and her show has pretty much blown Ms. Oprah out the water. Not to mention Oprah had her on her cover of O magazine only to be the second person ever to appear on that besides our first lady Michelle Obama. She has countless endorsement deals. It has nothing to do with being a lesbian. She is just love world wide. Check her show out. It's hilarious. You will see why everyone is all about Ellen these days. American Idol is just one more thing to ad to her list….her talk show is her MAIN thing.I don't think I have ever talked to anyone that hasn't said the same thing I hear millions say " I love Ellen!"

Ellen is very nice and all but I'm sure the Ellen you see on her show is alot different than the behind the scenes Ellen. You know when she's in charge of what she wants. Her neck has been unattractive for many years. I remember commenting on it back when she had that TV show.

Ugh, her antics on Idol are making me dislike her. Who is she to come on and start criticizing Simon? He's the reason I watch that show. I don't come on to see a bunch of warm fuzzies doled out. We went to her show a few months ago and were about a foot from her. She looks prettier in person than on tv and not at all old. Her eyes are really pretty bright blue.
If I were an actress I would rather look better in person. I would hate to look better on tv and have to see people look shocked when they saw me in real life!
Ellen went from looking good one season to a big eared old looking lady the next. She needs to gain some weight and tone down that make up. Also grow her hair out, to cover her unflattering ears. She's too pretty to be saboutaging her looks.

Ellen looks amazing, if she wants new lights, then damn it give the girl different lights! So many bash her and say how horrible she looks when youre all probably half her age and look twice as bad on a good day. Ellen is very beautiful and I think the world of her! She is great on idol, she's new and adjusting well, considering that she is doing two shows at once! ! Love You Ellen!! =)
