Barbara Walters Biggest Regret? Outing Ricky Martin!

It had to be done, Babs! No one better than you to do it!
After last night's final Oscar program, Barbara Walters has become rather reflective of her lengthy career. She was recently asked if there was anything she regretted over her last 1000 years in broadcasting and she admitted that her interview with Ricky Martin back in 2000 was a huge regret.
Why? Because like any good reporter, Barbara wanted the facts on his sexuality, but now, she feels her "inappropriate" questions may have caused the end to his then booming career. She explains:
"In 2000, I pushed Ricky Martin very hard to admit if he was gay or not, and the way he refused to do it made everyone decide that he was. A lot of people say that destroyed his career, and when I think back on it now I feel it was an inappropriate question."
We don't happen to agree with you there. The world wanted to know, you asked. There wasn't so much farther he was going to go with his cheesy music anyway. Think about it- is anyone from the pop days of the early 2000's still as big as they were then?
Don't give yourself that much credit. In fact, we imagine he would have had a more lucrative career if he had just admitted the truth during the interview! Can't blame yourself for his closet-dwelling.

WOW! get that **** out of your mouth when u speak. First-it's nobody's business. just because you want to know something doesn't mean its your right to know it. Second- I thought you were hispanic Perez? Then you would know he was relevent before his english album and he continues to be.
The funny thing is that his career is faaaaar from over. It's obvious you don't give a shit about your heritage, Perez…because if you did, you'd realize that the guy is still ENORMOUS in Latin countries. He may be a has-been here in the states, but everywhere else, he's going strong.
It sickens me a little, Perez, that you don't give a shit about anything that happens outside of this country, given your background.
Perez/Mario your a discrace to both Gay people and Latinos. Your an evil, aging, fat man. Its his business and not yours or anyone elses.
*disgrace
Novel 1, I could not have said it any better. No one should care what sexual preference they have, its really none of our business, if I like an artist I don't care. I wish the best to anyone. And I do think Walters was wrong to have pressured him like she says she did. I have to admit I liked him.
You are an ass Perez!
You are as bad as those Republican in the closet hypocrites!!
Perez, do you ever listen to anyone but yourself? Everyone, absolutely EVERYONE, has the right to choose to keep his sexual life PRIVATE, whether gay or straight. Why is this too difficult for you to understand? What is your motivation for invading the intimate sphere of other people by outing them? You have chosen to out yourself, it is your right, others have chosen not to, and it is their right too.Think about it.
Well, then she has acquired more sensitivity to Ricky Martin's wishes than you have. It's up to him, and no one else. If you care about people, you respect their life choices and try to allow them to develop in their own time and way.
There wasn't so much farther he was going to go with his cheesy music anyway.
