Christian Bale's Family Speaks Out On Estrangement From The Star
Remember the big fight Christian Bale had with his mother and sister back in 2008 before the London premiere of The Dark Knight? So big that they reported him to the police!
Well they haven't seen or heard from him since and they're speaking out about the incident. Says his mother Jenny:
"He just exploded with anger like I have never seen. He never gave us a chance to find out what it was all about before he frog-marched us out of his suite. He's not talking to us, it's not the other way round. He has changed his phone numbers, and he ignores the letters, emails and birthday cards I send.
"As awful as that night was, and although I rack my mind every day about what could have made him behave like that, I'd happily forget it happened if we could go back to being a family. That's the most important thing. We miss Christian terribly. But it's been more than 18 months now and it's hard to see how this will ever end."
Apparently Christian hadn't seen his family in England very much before the incident either, but he kept in contact via e-mail from time to time. His sister Sharon explains:
"He'd emailed a few times. In the last one, he signed off saying: 'See you at The Dorchester for the premiere. Perhaps we'll have dinner?' So that's what we were expecting. We hadn't all been together for maybe a year. I was dying to see him and his family, especially his little girl.
"Then he walked in and immediately started shouting at us. He was saying how angry he was that we had left the arrangements to the last minute - which made no sense because we'd been planning it for weeks with all the people around him. Perhaps the messages weren't getting through, we just don't know."
Rumors have been circulating for quite some time that both Jenny and Sharon were needling Christian for money and that had a lot to do with their estrangement, but Sharon denies ever asking her brother for money.
Well, we think calling the police on him might have been the final nail in the coffin — pretty sure he wasn't too pleased with that! Not to mention speaking to the media about the argument 18 months later when we all know he's a pretty private guy.
Probably not the best way to attempt to re-connect!

He's an asshole and his family is better off without him. I can relate because my brother also acted like that and I haven't seen him for years… thankfully.
It is steroids. The has roid rage - he did the same thing on the set when he went off on that guy.

Something I learned a long time ago as an HR Rep… there's always 2 sides to a story and the truth is usually somewhere in between. Mom, shut up!
Its always about the money. There must of been issues there whole life's. Im sure this all started way before he came into money, and now that he is rolling in it, they want to be apart of his life. But it dont work that way and spilling the beans really is not the way to get back in his life.
Sounds to me they miss his money more than they miss him. After 18mos, they're still talking about it and in a desperate attempt to win back his good graces, they contact the media? Dumb..shows money greedy relatives all over. `
Who knows what goes on in families. He's been working since he was a kid and probably supporting his mother and sister and may have decided to cut them off and make them stand on their own two feet after all these years. After all, he has kids of his own. And nobody should be leeching off another person if they're able-bodied and capable of being self-supporting!

I'm so Team Bale on this- Perez, don't give these people any more publicity. There are obviously many reasons why this family was already so estranged that these women chose to cause a scene and call police during the opportunity they did have to see him. I've always heard that he was much closer to his father, David, who was married to Gloria Steinem and passed away a few years ago.
If his sister wants to become close with Christian again then maybe she should try not talking about his/their personal live(s)?!
For God's sake how long ago did this happen and this famewhore mother & sister are STILL trying to milk it for attention and no doubt money??!! They're money-grubbing media whores. If they know Christian at all, as mother/sister should, they'd know that reaching out to him through the media is the wrong way to go… even I know that, and I don't know much about the guy.
So… they pretend to "reach out" and get some good money for it. Christian's probably laughing at them. He's better off without leaches holding him down.

They conveniently leave out a lot. Leave it at that. There are huge reasons he separates himself from the dysfunction of them. His immediate family is all that matters.
Think about how sick in the head you must be to be speaking out still, after all this time and whining on about personal issues. I feel sorry for him to have to deal with their constant need for attention and mental illness(es).
