We usually think he just does anything he can for a little bit of press, but we're glad he's talking this time!

Farrah Fawcett's partner, Ryan O'Neal, is devastated that the actress was omitted from the "In Memoriam" segment during the Academy Awards and is speaking out against the snub:

“It was a terrible decision and very hurtful. Farrah was a member of the Academy for over 40 years and we could not believe she did not get a mention. Both Tatum and I were very upset and we intend to write a letter to the Academy to try and get an explanation for this oversight on their behalf. They gave mentions to sound guys and other writers and without being disrespectful, Farrah Fawcett was an icon and a household name. Quite frankly, we were stunned at the decision not to include her in the tribute and I feel that the Academy should be scolded for that, everyone was shocked."

We think he's spot on!!

It's unbelievably unfortunate that Farrah didn't get the tribute she deserved this year!!

I can only think of one movie she was in that was released in theatres — the rest were on tv. I support Farrah's cause as much as anyone but her dedication might be more appropriate on the Emmys.

    2. 2

If they showed michael jackson for his "wiz" movie then she should of been shown lmao

Wow, I actually agree with him!

the snobbery of the academy of motion pictures does not want to lower themselves to acknowledge television personalities and Farrah was much more popular on TV thus deminishing the self-serving promotion of the elitist.

    5. 5

He's absolutely right! She DID appear on the big screen.

    6. 6

i agree who the fuk cares about sound guys and people no one heard of

    7. 7

She should have been mentioned, that either an oversight or she'd pissed someone off somewhere along the line.

Whichever it is, it was a mean thing to do.

    8. 8

      Fuck them

Re: Novel1 – Actually, Farrah did do movies two of which were awarded - Extremities (Nominated – Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama) & The Apostle (Nominated – Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female) and many more that weren't. So maybe she was more known for Charlie's Angels but she was a movie star and for the Academy to shrug that off is quite outrageous. I mean she was a member of the Academy. Your not a member unless you done something it merit it. They always include all these producers or actors for the silent movie era that seriously everyone thought was dead already anyway. It's very said they can't just admit they made a mistake and say "hey we are sorry".

im sick of michael jacko but he was nominated for an oscar before
      that goes to you backstreetboysarethebest
and farrah fawcett was never nominated for an oscar
she wasnt even part of something that was nominated for an oscar
yes she was a sex symbol, yes her hairstyle was kind of a trend back in the 70s but thats about it ,she did some great tv work and its the fucking oscars damnn stop making it a fucking big deal that farrah wasnt part of it its not like shes elizabeth taylor!

    11. 11

WHAT? They left her out….that is a true SHAME, she was an icon of her time she deserved to be mentioned, shame on you Academy!

    12. 12

She was primarily in tv, but she was in at least 5 major film releases…there is no way they should not have included her…particularly if they included Michael…

    13. 13

I think it was an oversight. They always mention people in the biz. So sad they did not include her. There were others who were not mention either. When they do that segment it's for all entertainers not just actors. I think they messd up big time not including her. She and Michael passed on the same day. Wow. What about Ed McMahan? Whoever did this did not do the homework. Very sad.

    14. 14

He's spot on! Her performance in Extremities alone qualifies her!

    15. 15

It really isn't right. Michael Jackson wasn't in movies either. Like they say she was a household name.

    16. 16

Re: rinzler – Michael Jackson was never nominated for any type of Academy Award–musical or otherwise

    17. 17

      fuck that dead bitch

    18. 18

She was also in Logan's Run which had a lot of great actors in it.

    19. 19

Michael may not have been up for any oscars but he was in a musical THE WIZ! I think this is just a big mistake. There were others who were not mentioned. They list directors, writers, producers, I mean people we don't even hear of. This year we lost so much talent! More then any year I can think of. Just Farrah, Natasha and Michael alone was enough. Academy do a better job next year! You dropped the ball on this one.

    20. 20

Whatever the reason for not including Farrah, it happened. Most would agree that she should have been in there. But to write letters, "scolding" the academy, demanding apologies. whining and complaining is a little self-serving. The best thing for Farrah's friends and family is to move on.

    21. 21

      Re: rinzler

I agree. Remind me of her contribution to film??? I know she was in a few, but couldn't say what without looking it up… Sorry, but I have never understood why so many people put this woman up on a pedestal. She was an icon for awhile there, Charlies Angels, took a sexy photo in a red bikini - and what else? Some forgettable TV appearances/made for TV movies. In the last two decades she is more famous for her train-wreck of a personal life… I see a picture of her and I just think 'tragic'.

    22. 22

we thought we missed someone: farrah and its a fucking shame! the movies she made are yet mentioned by others. she was also a member of the academy for 40 years? farrah was an icon, very beloved and still missed. the uk baftas did honour her! it's a very sad shame the academy didn't.

we were surprised michael jackson was mentioned though but we we're okay with that.

    23. 23

they obviously didnt do their homework.. most likely an oversight..dumb asses!!! Too worried about the opening gay number!!!

    24. 24

Omg, I wish everyone would stfu already about this woman gettin "snubbed" for a tribute at the Oscar's! Yeah she probably should have had one but stop mentioning MJ like he didnt deserve anything at all! You'r e a fucking lying disgusting hipocritical pig Perez and ya oughta be ashamed of yourself!

    25. 25

Re: weezeeca – He sang an oscar nominated song, Ben. Thriller was put into the Nation Film Registry.
He did The Wiz, Captain EO, Moonwalker, Ghosts, and This Is It.

Farrah was more of a TV Icon. Sure she did a couple of movies, but not stuff the Academy pays attention to.

Even when Eminem dies, he'll be put in the Memorium because he won an Oscar.

    26. 26

That's so disrespectful. I DEMAND AND APOLOGY FROM THE ACADEMY!

    27. 27

in this case, ryan's right and farrah, bea arthur, etc. should have been included. i do not agree that "sound" guys or whatever should be dismissed. they should be included just like everyone else who has contributed to the community during their careers.

but since, it's so genuinely hurtful that people are excluded, year after year, there needs to be some solution to this . . .

    28. 28

They need to include her next year……what a screw up…..They need to apologize and fix this asap. And fire whoever decided to piss all over this womans grave.

    29. 29

Completely agree with Ryan. Ridiculous and slightly stupid.

    30. 30

And the Oscar goes to……..Farrah Fawcet, for her unforgettable role as a plastic surgery nurse in Logan's Run. Her famous scene stealing line of "Oh yeah, I do remember" will go down as one of Oscar's best film line moment in history!

    31. 31

I completely agree. That was awful that she was not included. If MJ was, when he was only in a couple of movie films, she absolutely should have been recognized for her film work as well.

    32. 32

Ryan (for once) is right. Funny how they had time to show Michael Jackson even though he starred in one movie thirty-two years ago. Leaving Farrah Fawcett and Beatrice Arthur out was inexcusable. And considering how much time they wasted on the heinous opening number with NPH, the horror movie clips (why?) and the John Hughes tribute (again, why?), I don't think a few extra faces on the memorial reel would make a difference. Very bad decision… along with playing 'I Am Woman' as Kathryn Bigelow left the stage - how insulting and stupid.

    33. 33

Re: stellagranos – It doesn't matter how long ago the movie came out, Michael fully deserved to be acknowledged! Yes, Farrah did as well but implying that Michael shouldn't have been mentioned is ridiculous! How about blaming the people who put together the show rather than trying to pass it off on MJ….

    34. 34

It was surprising that she was left out. I didn't know she was part of the Academy. Knowing that, it's even more surprising.

I guess the family should get an explanation, but I don't appreciate how Ryan O'Neal's comment makes the "sound guys and other writers" less important than Farrah. Just because you write "without being disrespectful" doesn't make it disrespectful.

I get star struck by actors all the time, but it's embarrassing how much attention they get. The best actor nominees were treated like gods on Sunday. The ceremony opened with the ten of them standing on the stage as the audience cheered, then they each had another actor boost their ego later in the evening. I'm saying it doesn't take hard work to do what they do, but the best of the actors and the best of the production/post production crew work just as hard and should be recognized just the same.

    35. @v@ says – reply to this

      35

That's a pretty big whoops. Perhaps they did a tribute at the Emmys? She was a t.v. star, not really a film star.

    36. 36

the show's producer (adam shankman) is a self-absorbed pervert and would rather use the time to televise gay sex "jokes" ("drop the soap") than pay tribute to superstars like farrah and bea. he's a fucking moron! and the academy should be ashamed.

    37. 37

michael jackson……in only one movie and he sucked in it big time…farrah did a couple of movies, but they all bombed with the exception of Extremities which was a box office failure, but critically her performance was excellent, they never mentioned Bea Arthur who was a legend who did Broadway, Movies Television etc…….could have done without some dead pedophile junkie like michael jackson!
