Sopranos Creator Takes On First Film!!

| Filed under: Film FlickersSex & The City

Don't get too excited, Sopranos fans, he's NOT taking the Sex and the City route!!

David Chase, creator of the HBO mafia drama, plans to direct his first feature film with Paramount Pictures!!

The untitled script, also written by Chase, is apparently a music-driven coming of age story about a group of guys who form a rock band in the '60s.

That's a pretty vague description, but it already sounds like Almost Famous to us!!!

We'll remain cautiously optimistic until more details emerge!! We still haven't forgiven him for The Sopranos finale!!

What do U think?? Will U go see David Chase's first film as a director??

Hes actually a good writer and has a knack for tapping into emotion I think his movie will be wonderful

Find out why GenerationGossip.com is the talk about town

that doesnt sound like almost famous at all….almost famous is in the 70s and its about a WRITER following an already established band..

  4. 4

how does starting a rock band and the sixties remind your fatass of almost famous?
that was about a groupie and a writer in the 70's.

Well, The Sopranos finale did require a small amount of cerebral processing so I can understand why you're still sitting in the same spot staring at a blank tv screen…

Doesn't sound like Almost Famous at all. Def looking forward to it

Maybe it'll be a cliche piece of shit that ends abruptly with a black screen

I'm obsessed with The Sopranos. Someday… someday… it is my hope he will revisit this most extraordinary show.
I'll likely watch whatever he creates, but need a Sopranos fix!

Almost Famous took place in the late 70s. That's a far cry from the 60s. Not even close to the same thing, Perez. Musically, those two eras are hundreds of years apart.

mario - almost famous is a coming of age story about an amateur writer in the music business - cameron crowe to be exact - the guy who wrote and directed it. anyhoo - why don't you shut the fuck out untl you actually get your fat ass out there and see it.

I hope this movie Chase is making isn't any good, I promised myself I'd never watch anything he makes after what he did with the Sopranos… after 6 years of inconsistent programming and super-drawn out plotlines, they left us with a black screen. Effers.

And this doesn't sound anything like Almost Famous. Almost Famous is about a teen writer that follows an already famous band in the 70s. This proposed movie is in a different decade, follows the (assumingly up-and-coming) band, and involves a totally different music scene (rock in the 60s= radically different from 70s).

Ummm ya! Also-Almost famous was necessarily just about a rock band. It was mostly about the roadies that follow the bands. Have you even seen the movie Perez? It's about a boy that is given the chance to write for a mag about a band and Kate Hudson happens to be a roadie. Her and the boy form a friendship. You need to get your stupid facts straight or hire better writers that know what the hell the talking about!

Absolutely. David Chase is one of the most gifted people out there.

If you think the Sopranoes ending was bad then you are an ignorant idiot. No offense. If you actually payed attention to the Sopranos and didn't just watch it because you heard they had a gay member on the final season then you would understand the ending. But I am sure you didn't. The whole series was genius including the ending. I will explain it to you. In one of the earlier episodes of the final season Tony and his brother in law were talking about what they thought happened after you died. Or were "rubbed out". Tony's brother in law then replies with the fact when you die everything just goes black. Hence the screen just going black. Tony was killed. The ending was pure genius. Just like the ending for Ugly Betty will probably be. Just kidding we all know that show is stupid and you only promote those shows exclusively because they have homosexual characters and nothing else.

That actually doesn't sound like Almost Famous at all, Perez you are just not smart sometimes
