The Biggest Snub At The Oscars!

| Filed under: AwardzFarrah FawcettSad Sad

Anyone who watched carefully during the Oscar telecast last night knows exactly what we are going to talk about.

During the In Memoriam tribute last night, which remembers all the stars we have lost over the past year, two very honorable and distinguished actresses were overlooked.

Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur!

Though one could argue that these ladies were primarily TV actresses, both did have parts in some lesser known films. Besides, Michael Jackson got thrown in there and off-hand, we can only think of one movie he has been in!

You've got a lot of explaining to do Academy!

wow your right!!! for once :)

  2. 2

Let's not forget that Michael did play in the Wiz! Which was showed with his picture. Granted everyone should have been included!

  3. 3

I'm sorry you moron, lesser known films, how about Logans Run, Saturn 3, Sunburn, Cannonball Run, Man of the House, Dr. T. and the Women, The Apostle. I don't care she was know for more TV, the woman was an Icon. That was a total snub in my opinion.

  4. 4

i totally saw that, thats terrible.

  5. 5

Good point.. They both should have been in that video!

  6. 6

ofcourse they deserved to be added but come on by far mj's death has had the most affect,he was not an actor but he was a total legen he will be missed,i love him and miss himhe was a wonderful person r.i.p mj(let him rest in peace pig ! )

  7. 7

Total snub, Farrah may have been known for more TV, but what about Saturn 3, Logans Run, Sunburn, The Apostle, Dr. T and the Women.

  8. 8

THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN U HAVE ASSHOLE 19 YR OLD INTERNS WHO DONT KNOW JACK FOR HISTORY AND CANT REMEMBER ANYTHING PAST YESTERDAY. FAT BOY IS CORRECT. THO WE KNOW HE DIDNT DISCOVER IT HIMSELF. 99.9% SOMEONE EMAILED HIM THE DISCREPANCY!! TRUTH. MARIO AND PEREZ = DUMB AND DUMBER.

  9. 9

I was thinking that last night! It also bugged me that you could barely see Patrick Swayze.

  10. 10

Farrah was also in "Extremeties". MJ shouldn't have been up there at all.

  11. 11

It's really a shame that they left them out. Farrah and Bea Arthur were two wonderful women. Charlie's Angel and Dorothy the Golden Girl forever

  12. 12

BEA ARTHUR RULES! HELLO?!?!?! HISTORY OF THE WORLD PART I?!?!?!

  13. Theo says – reply to this

    13

Wow, you are right….that is terrible! Both had done films.

  14. 14

Every year the miss someone in this tribute. You think they'd have enough people to make sure there was no chance leaving anyone out.

  15. 15

No Snub at all!!!! Neither Farrah or Bea were movie stars!!!!!!! While I don't like Michael Jackson and he may have only been in 1 movie, his music has been in more than 1. Let the EMMY's honor Farrah and Bea,

  16. 16

Lets not forget Bea in Mame she was fabulous in that and also Logans Run was a classic someone effed up royaly

  17. 17

yes unfair but at the same time they were tv actresses and Michael had a staring role in the movies he did!

  18. 18

This is an absolute disgrace. Bea Arthur and Farrah Fawcett were both brilliant, intelligent, and talented women. I am tempted to stop watching the Academy Awards altogether after this outrage.
I don't care WHAT people say about them just being "TV actresses". They both starred in movies. And they both deserved to be honored for their work last night. Plain and simple. And severely disappointing.

  19. 19

    go take a show fuckez

  20. 20

Ed McMahon was snubbed too. BULLSHIZ!

  21. 21

didn't MJ sing that song "Ben" that was nominated for an Oscar in that rat movie.

  22. 22

ed mcmahon (sorry for the spelling) he did things other than tv too. guess the academy felt they were basically known for tv. BUT, then they should have left MJ out of the equation. It has gotten ridiculous with the tributes to mj and forgetting of the others that have passed, like their lives have not mattered. Many of them have touched people more than Michael, but it is not politically correct to say so in the land of hollyweird the land of politically correctness.

  23. 23

sure they weren't huge movie stars, but they deserved to be in there more than michael jackson did… was heath ledger in the memoriam tribute?! i don't think i saw him.. but i could be wrong.

  24. 24

I think that Michael as well as Farrah and Bea should have been included. Granted while Michael only appeared in one film, he did record multiple songs for soundtracks written specifically for a movie - or just in general and Farrah and Bea's acting credits were mainly television work. I presume that award shows such as the Emmys would/will include them in some forum of a tribute.

  25. 25

I totally noticed the Farrah snub. I predicted she'd be in it but then my mother said they didn't include her. Very odd. She was a famous actress, regardless of whether it was primarily in TV.

  26. 26

Michael Jackson was nominated as Ben´s singer.and not forget that he has contributed, not only musically but also technically in film history
he deserves it like these great women,

  27. denab says – reply to this

    27

patrick swayze?? don't think he was in either.

  28. 28

What were they thinking?! Oh… that's right. They weren't. The Memoriam started off with several quick and out of focus pictures of Patrick Swayze that could barely be seen leaving out Fawcett and Arthur giving more time to stars who've been dead longer than the life of this planet. Along with the amateur, awkward song-n-dance number of Doogie Howser (who knew the guy couldn't sing or dance?), the weird, recurring lamps on a stickwall backdrop and the host's initial insult-laced nominee roast, this award show was one of the most contrived, lackluster performances yet. Oh… except Ben Stiller's "fierce, smurf-on-acid" spoof of Avatar which, though uncomfortable was still hilarious.

  29. 29

    Very disresctful !!

  30. 30

    disrespectful**

  31. 31

Wow! What a bunch of bull! Both Bea & Farrah totally deserved to be recognized!
What the hell was the Academy thinking? These two women were so important to television.
I don't think Michael needed to be mentioned if people who were great television actresses were snubbed. Don't get me wrong,I loved Michael, but he was a musician,NOT an actor! Someone certainly screwed up,BIG time!

  32. 32

That's a shame. They were both great actress's

  33. 33

yeah i thought that was sad. wonder why. maybe they were running out of time so they cut the two final people in the memorial. but i still think mj shouldve been in their still. he was in a movie and was nominated for an oscar. but yeah.

  34. 34

Farrah was blacklisted after she quit Charlie's Angels before her contract expired. Her husband at the time, Lee Majors, convinced her she WAS THE STAR of the show and she was a success on her own.
Since she still was under contract to the show, Hollywood blacklisted her for breach. She sabotaged her career.

  35. 35

Well I figured it was because Michael contributed to soundtracks.
    But I dunno =/

  36. 36

Not Jackson's fault that someone did not do his/her work well and forgot these two actresses. I am sure the academy did not do this on purpose, just sloppy work.
Jackson was in Oz, and Moonwalker. Wrote the soundtrack for Free Willy, and was nominated for an Oscar for Ben, from the film of the same name.

  37. 37

These two were giants. Just as much a movie star as they were television stars. They truly deserved to be in the memorium. I know they did a piece on this very subject and proceeded to say how long and arduous the process is. They have to decide who goes on, 30 max, and go on to find the perfect pic and all.. They cannot fit everyone in, and maybe they will include them in next years memorium..

  38. 38

that is F'd up….they should have been put into that….

  39. 39

Re: denab – he was there way in the beginning…and although not a very well known actor: Andrew Koenig who was recently found dead was also in movies as well as Growing Pains.

  40. 40

Not only that but when they showed Jean Simmon's tribute, they had a photo of Jennifer Jones up! Who do they hire to do these?

  41. 41

Michael Jackson was in The Wiz, made a short movie called Ghosts and was the performer of a nominated song called Ben. So he actually deserved to be in it.

Bea Arthur and Farrah Fawcett are TV people. Walter Kronkite wasnt in it either

  42. 42

I thought that too, but then I remembered that they may not be members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. I think they only include people who are members in the tributes. Michael Jackson must have been a member…

  43. 43

And– what about the original "Wicker Man," the star of "Breaker Morant", the fricking EQUALIZER, man– Edward Woodward?
I can't believe the Oscar producers went back to airing the "most popular dead" applause. Liked it better when they muted that. It's tacky, tacky to show those clips with the clapping– the poor dudes who get just a smattering are really disrespected. Final Hollywood sendoff, I guess.

  44. 44

they left out brad renfro 2 years ago and he had done 30 films! their excuss was that there is not enought time for everyone!

  45. 45

True true! Farrah, Bea… How about Brittany Murphy?

Also, did I observe right, that it was just Sandra who acknowledged her co-nominees?

  46. 46

    Re: sweetiekins
    Andrew died in 2010.

  47. 47

burning bed!!!! agh!!! bea arthur is a godess!!!

and i guess your talking about The Wiz with MJ?? which was actually kind of a sick movie.

  48. 48

epic fail they put so many people that were born in like 1910 we have no clue were

academy sucks show sucked borefest for 4 hrs

  49. 49

Oh jeez, chill out. I'm sure they'll be honored at the Emmys.

  50. 50

I actually don't have a problem with MJ being there and not because am an MJ fan but because he was in The Wiz, Captain E.O, Ghost, and his videos were more like short films than actual music videos e.g. Thriller, Bad, etc., But I still think Farah Fawcett and Bea Arthur should have been included. I mean all they do is put your picture up there with a short clip of your movie and sometimes just your picture. How could they not have time to put them in there? Because that was their excuse they just don't have time for everyone. WTF?

  51. 51

yes, farrah could have been shown, desite being known as a tv actress.

michael & the jackson 5's songs have been used in many films.

his first solo #1 single was "ben", theme song from 'willard'.

  52. 52

    SO SAD!!

  53. 53

I was very shocked that these two were left out! They were actual actors! Whereas MJ wasn't really….So it was a huge WTF moment for me, and I assume many other people as well.

  54. 54

    They forgot Patrick Swayze too!

  55. 55

    -
Fuck Farrah. What did she ever do besides that awful show (one season only, I think) and some crappy movies (most made fot TV).
    -
Bea is best known as a stage actress. They won't forget her at the Tony's.
    -

  56. 56

WHAT ABOUT WHEN THE REV WAS IGNORED AT THE GRAMMYS!?!?

  57. 57

Yeah. I noticed that immediately. I was like, did I miss them? They're two very popular stars. How could they mess that up?

  58. 58

i was looking for both ladies. I thought I missed them or something.

  59. 59

Re: preppygirl22 – come on now……everyone knows how much that movie sucked ass!!

  60. 60

Michael played in the Wiz, had his own movie titled Moonwalker, and he also made a cameo in MIB. Let's not forget This Is It. They had journalists on there too. Michael also made his Music Videos into mini movies.

But, that was one of the first things I noticed. Farah wasn't on there.

  61. 61

Re: jade_iris – The Academy includes all those contributing to film making, like songwriters, musicians, costume, sound engineers, script writers, lighting engineers, producers, directos etc. Jackson was involved musically in Ben, he was nominated for best song oscar ,he contributed to the soundtrack for ET, wrote the soundtrack for Free Willy. He acted in Oz, Moonwalker, and Captain Eo. He was seen as a short Film maker.

  62. 62

Has Farrah Fawcett been nominated for an oscar?,what about Bea Arthur?
well Michael Jackson has!!! The Wiz was nominated before and he did alot of songs for sountracks, his song Ben was nominated for an Oscar.Im not saying those women should have been left out im just trying to prove a point by saying why is it a bad thing Michael was on there? he deserved it,besides Michael was a legend ,thats why his death upstaged Farrah's not to be rude, but thats the truth.I do find it disrespectful that they werent on there though, but Michael Jackson did deserve to be on there TOO!.

  63. 63

    You're right!!
    Disgusting!!

  64. 64

    big big oversight!

  65. Clemy says – reply to this

    65

Total snub and unacceptable, some people in the in memoriam segment nobody knows because they work in the background, it's important to mention them but it is just as important to mention these two actresses who people do know. As for Michael, there is the Wiz, the song Ben for whatever movie with the rats, also the theme song for Free Willy and he did have some cameos(ex: Men in Black II). Micheal deserved to be there just as much Farrah and Bea or the soundman who one an oscar in 1968. They did the work they should be there period! It's called respect!

  66. 66

Michael was in there for his incredible contributions to the music video and short film region. He's done so much for pop culture and 75% of that is his historic short films. Why do people keep forgetting this?

  67. 67

I think the biggest snub was the amazing JOHN HUGHES!!!! how could they leave out such an amazing talent!!!!!

  68. 68

R.i.P. FARRAH AND BEA! YOU WILL BE MISSED BY MILLIONS!

  69. 69

Re: afroangel – OMG you are right Brittany Murphy MADE MOVIE! Guess no one cares for her! :(

  70. 70

I am reading now Britney was shown! I must have went to the bathroom! Because I didn't see her! :(

  71. 71

I found that whole section to be very disrespectful.
You could barely see Patrick Swayze. They didn't give him a talking part like some other's too.
Leaving out people like Bea Arthur and Farrah, just cements in my mind how pathetic a segment it was!

  72. 72

    True Story Perez!!(:

  73. 73

Farrah and bea not being mentioned was a terrible mistake. To basically say michael should have been left out is a dumb thing to say. The Wiz may have been one of his only well known acting roles but he did lend his voice to one of the biggest movies ever; E.T. Michael played a huge role in more then just music. Dont be mad @ the fact that u wont be acknowledged on anyones memoriam when your time comes.

  74. 74

Also i totally agree with those who brought up Ben etc. I see people being honored every year who's contribution to the movie is that films music. How is that any different from michael, perez?

  75. 75

Re: TheRealJerseyShore – and you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. So keep quiet.

  76. 76

Re: kaylav24 – No, that's because he died in 2008…

  77. 77

Re: hurricaneeeeeeee – Are you kidding me?! He had his own segment! Did you actually watch the Oscars?
