Creationism Getting The 3-D Hollywood Treatment!!

We think they may want to re-work this as an end-of-days story, because this sounds like it's going to be a DISASTER!!
Paramount Pictures is planning a 3-D retelling of the Book of Genesis' story of creation, which will be called In The Beginning!!
If you're unfamiliar with the Bible story, the film will center around the weeklong period it took God to create the world, which ended with Adam and Eve on Day Six, and God chilling out for the 24 hour period afterward.
Producers think the 3-D visuals and $30 million proposed budget will attract families and religious-minded audiences, and we think they're probably right!!
We don't know though…is the the latest Hollywood gimmick the best way to retell a Bible story?? If they eff it up people are going to FREAK.
What do U think?? Are U going to go see In The Beginning???

The Bible doesn't define a day for God as 24 hours, you nitwit asshole. If Hollywood can do the Ten Commandments, etc., then this is no different and no worse.
it's hard to believe people in this day and time believe that crap..religion is a brain disorder… it does one thing…keeps the common people scared and inline. Just like the Republican party does
creationists are idiots.
The Bible says 6 days of creation and 1 day of rest but let's not apply our idea of "time" to God's creation. A day to God could be 10,000 years to us. No where in the bible does it equate a day to 24 hours during the creation period.
If the special effects are done right this could be a great sci-fi/fantasy film along the lines of Avatar and the Lord of the Rings!
Re: truth in life – Re: moonshain – Right on.
.
I hope they don't attempt to pawn that fiction off as a "true" story.
Are they out of their fucking minds?! Are they really so stupid that they'd want to appease these creationist idiots?! 20-fucking-10, assholes!
So it's a fantasy like Avatar, only with a smaller budget.
I don't see why it would be a disaster. Not everyone takes the Bible seriously and it could be a good movie for believers or non-believers. Like you said, it's the "STORY" of Creation from the "BOOK" of Genesis. What's the big deal about making a movie based on a religious theme?
sorry for those that haven't found their savior - Jesus said "If you are ashamed of me,' I will be ashamed of you before my Father." -hope/pray you find him before your day comes!!!
bible stories should be left to the bible - hollywood manages to fuck up everything and being that money is the root of all evil, seems to be a bit contradictory……
I think that "In the Beginning" will be the Atheists dream movie. Not because it will "convert" but because when the ridiculous, impossible and far-fetched "stories" told in the bible come to "life" on the big screen, it will only prove that we non-believers are right.
Wouldn't see this fairytale if they paid ME!!!
I am nauseous…..
The Bible is for 2-dimensional people.
If Mel Gibson can capitalize off the stupidity of religious Americans, why not anyone else?
Why not? I'm going to see Clash of the Titans. I love mythology!
Re: truth in life – Yeah. You mean "The Stoopid"
first off-you guys complaining about the 24hrs ie. Sunday ref-c'mon you know what Perez meant! I miiight see this movie out of Catholic guilt but I don't think so. I went to see the Mel Gibson movie and it was just like every movie, story, cartoon, etc that I saw while I went to Catholic school from k-8. I mean you ALREADY KNOW THE WHOLE STORY! Why would you go-just to see some pretty effects? You have to work a bit harder to get my $15!
Re: RobPnMeShouldB –
Money is not the root of all evil. The love of money is the root of all evil. 1 Timothy 6:10
Dumbass.
I'm amazed at how many don't believe in our maker…….and go on to ridicule those who know our father…….
Money is not the root of all evil. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. get it right jack ass
slightly OT but why do you censor that art work but not censor half of the other disgusting crap on this website, especially women?
AM I MISSING OUT ON THE KOOL-AID THAT THESE PRODUCERS/WRITERS/DIRECTORS ARE DRINKING? WTF IS WITH THESE 3-D SHITS? DO THEY BELIEVE IN 2012 WORLD ENDING AND WANT TO GET EVERY 3-D MADE BEFORE WE ALL DIE? OR IS THERE SOMETHING IN THE HOLLYWOOD WATER?
Hell no. I bet this movie is going to be awful.
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – YOU'RE A WALKING CONTRADICTORY. YOU LIKE TWILIGHT (VAMPIRES=DEVILS) YET YOU'RE HERE PREACHING ABOUT JESUS. PLEASE SIT DOWN AND GO READ YOUR BIBLE, OR WHATEVER YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEF PREACHES.
People already believe this crap anyway. I like fiction but some people can't tell fiction from reality, so I don't think it should be propagated any further - unless they put a nice disclaimer in.
Also, how are they gonna handle 1) the nudity and 2) Adam and Eve's ethnicity??
lol 2) should be prove enough that creation is NOT what happened! But sadly, people believe what they wanna believe. I hear ignorance is bliss, wouldn't know myself though. Anyway, Paramount surely won't be getting any of my money this time…
ha, can't wait to see how they create plants before the sun, light before the stars, etc. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA …. can't believe tards still believe any of that shat in this day and age.
If this is made, it will portray the story as what it really is: A STORY.
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – Some people stopped having imaginary friends a looong time ago. Time to get with reality, buddy. Maybe we should build you a time machine so you too can join us in the 21st century. We need no more religion to explain the world around us. It was good way back when but now science is doing the job. Sad to see so many people are still brainwashed and don't like to use their own brain.
Or to say it in your language: "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use." - Galileo Galilei
Re: FemTrek Forever – i didn't realize vampires were real…….my bad……
Re: RobPnMeShouldB –
Because people like you are FUCKING RETARDED. Go fuck yourself.
Re: Hewhosmokeswomen – i'm glad you feel better about yourself after calling me a dumbass - then you posted your comment twice……
Re: moonshain –
Seeing either theory, evolutionism or creationism, as black and white is so narrow minded.
Re: Orator – since when is Christianity solely American?
you know all those crazy christians are gonna go and take their retarded kids
it will be a hit
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – I suppose if you live in a dream world where Robert Pattinson falls in love with you, you're the type of person that can also believe there's a mythical being in the sky, because an archaic book told you so.
LOL. Just what we need! More religious crap thrown at us- but this time it's in 3D?
What, do they figure more people will buy into it if they see God popping out of the screen at them? I mean, really?
Re: Ze German – Adam and Eve are going to be WHITE, obviously! Just like Jesus! Haha
Creationists have no knowledge of simple scientific concepts, such as skin colour. Science has proven that light skin is an evolutionary adaptation and the first humans were dark skinned. Light skin evolved when humans moved from sunny Africa to cloudy Europe and their skin lightened to better absorb Vitamin D. I've discussed skin colour with creationists, and they believe Adam and Eve were white, but have no explanation for the variation we see today! Idiots.
Re: Ze German –
Why would you quote a man who believed in God to equate religion to brainwashing?
Funny that 'Creation', a movie about the life of Charles Darwin that came out in 2009, wasn't released in the US because it was deemed "too offensive" for religious Americans - yet, a movie like this will be marketed the hell out of. It just shows you what sells and appeals to the majority of people in this country. It would be laughable, until you realize that this is the place our children are growing up. SCARY
Re: Serena Loves Mario – your comment is immature and irrelevant. if you believe God is mythical, that's fine, I don't really care I just believe you're foolish
Re: Ze German – THANKFULLY, opinions are like assholes - everyone has them and they all stink…….that includes yours.
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – Your name refers to Robert Pattinson and I'm the immature one?
Go to university, stop listening to your parents, and read some books, sweetie.
Funny how those who don't believe are incredibly vicious and nasty in everything they say. I'd imagine you're the same way in real life and how absolutely miserable you must be. I'll stick to being the "dumbass that believes in God" - therefore I know I can never stoop to your level…..
Re: Serena Loves Mario –
Not all creationists believe that Adam and Eve, or Jesus for that matter, had white skin. Given the area of the world in which they lived it would make sense that they were NOT white. Who told you that all creationists believe this way? For you to espouse that ALL creationists believe that Adam, Eve, Jesus, and everyone else was white is about as narrow minded as they come.
The thing is, no matter what you believe, this will make for some pretty kick ass visuals. I think the issue will be finding a storyline that keeps the audience interested for two hours. I mean, if we just watch planets popping up for that long, the novelty will wear off. Additionally, this is not just a Christian story. The Jews and Muslims also teach creationism. I'm excited to see where this will go.
Certainly I'd see it. The thing is, I don't think its very good for people today, especially Christians… Might liberate them somehow… Make them feel they hold some kind of truth.
But I suppose the bottom line is it is a historical story and would make a LOT of money.
Them bastards are capitalizing this shit.
Re: Serena Loves Mario – do you know what website your on? it's for celebrities idiot……it's called a screen name, you act like i gave my first born the name of robpnmeshouldb…….gimme a fucken break……
Re: xiolableu – i wouldn't pay much attention to the idiot - "its" looking for a confrontation……
i sooo wanna see it!
Re: Serena Loves Mario – my dad's an atheist……..next?
Re: xiolableu – Oh please. I was responding to ZeGerman in a joking manner, as we frequently both end up in the religious posts.
Please point me towards a creationist (evolution denier, believes Earth is just thousands of years old) that could be considered intelligent. I've spoken to MANY creationists for my research, and I'm impartial in my findings when I write articles, but will be honest here due to the anonymity. They are complete idiots that blatantly ignore scientific fact to suit their beliefs.
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – Nice grammar. Pay attention in school, darling.
So Adam and Eve are "white". How do we account for Non-White people on the planet? You know, since Adam and Eve started the human race???? Its just so unreal to me that something like 63 percent of the population believe a "bible" written THOUSANDS of years ago (when Scientists were not there to prove their OPINIONS otherwise) over current day FACT and SCIENTIFIC research. Scary.
I won't go see it, and I do believe it will be a disastor. How many people are SO religious that they would look forward to a 3D religious film? I don't think many… I mean, even if I was Christian, I'd still think this movie is lame.
Btw… someone on here said that people who don't believe are vicious… ok, maybe some of us are, but not most and certainly not all. And when we are, dammit, we have a right to be– atheists and agnostics have been put down by religious fanatics for thousands of years.
Plus, did you know that in 7 states, you cannot legally hold office in the US if you declare yourself an atheist? Not that any politician would, because declaring atheism is political suicide. Talk about backward!
Re: RobPnMeShouldB –
I LOVE a good confrontation, especially when it comes to intellectual discussions.
Re: xiolableu – I'll let you have this one - I'm now out of work and could give a shit - I've had my entertainment for the day!!!! Based on your posts, your intelligence will conquer "its" feeling of superiority……
Re: liltrix09 – You know, I frequently have very civil conversations with the religious and I've had to grow very thick skin, because if I say I'm not a believer, that's insulting their religion and opens a window for them to criticize every aspect of my life. We're, generally, not viscous at all, but the more we speak to people about our religious beliefs, the more we're completely bashed, which can cause us to become vicious back.
Re: Serena Loves Mario – you sound very silly and ignorant using little pet names……..i'm not your sweetie, darling, baby or anyone else you wish I was……..
What a waste of money!! It's not even true! LMAO god… whats next? sparkling vampires…. oh wait..
Re: Serena Loves Mario –
Let me clarify…I love intellectual discourse as long as both parties can agree to disagree, if that is the case, if they have varying beliefs. People who limit themselves to those who think the same way they do are doing themselves a grave disservice by not learning as much as they can about every side of a discussion, arguement, theory, or whatever it may be that they are confronted with.
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – More so than you calling me "it"?
Of course I will see it but be weary…..LISTEN TO ME FOR A MINUTE….
Any depiction of the Bible will be mis-represented as we are all fallable humans. The Bible, to a Christian, or not, is the infallible word of God. Mel Gibson did great in Passion of Christ" but still some areas of concern, like this movie….bottom line….
If you want to know what the Bible truly stands for read it, not part, all.
oh yeah….
If you want to go to heaven, ALL you have to do is know and accept Jesus Christ in your heart and know he DIED on the cross to forgive you of your sins. THAT'S IT….like a child, you grow from there by reading the bible, and prayer, not just going to church.
ughh why your going to chrage me to go see a 3 d movie anyways caant even sneak in over hype 3d much
Only if I want to see The Biggest Lie Ever Told The Movie
yes there isnt enough movies about bible stories and bible stories really do have some awesome stories! seriously why are people so babyish about religion christianity and the bible? how many of us were raised in christian families? of course "hollywood" will use it for their own evil ways….but it sounds like it would be good
Re: xiolableu – Did you not read my post? I speak to people frequently on the topic of religion. I disagree with them, find their beliefs quite simple-minded, but I'm always open to discussing it, as I, too, enjoy intellectual debate. I know that nothing I say will change what they believe, and expect them to have the same opinion.
I enjoy the creationists the most (the ones that take the Bible literally and deny all scientific evidence for evolution and an old Earth) because their beliefs and what they have to say actually fascinates me.
Re: xiolableu – no, creationists are idiots. this is a fact.
Re: xiolableu – Dude, have you read anything about Galilei? Apparently not, because then you'd know that he was put in front of the Inquisition for promoting heliocentrism. He was smart enough not to die for his beliefs - or lack thereof - and part of that was complacency. He is often quoted as not believing in a personal god and refused to receive the sacrament on his death bed, which was a huge deal at the time.
Re: Serena Loves Mario – Exactly! And I love how religious black people call evolution a "racist theory". They should be thrilled at the thought that "they" were there first homo sapiens but noooo… gotta make it a negative thing again. No explanation for their theory and don't wanna hear the truth either. Very very sad. Only in America…
Just out of curiosity…how many of you are actual scientists? Because you seem to know an awful lot on what science has and has not proven. Yes, there are scientists that have proven that some stories (as translated) do not make sense. However, there are other scientists that have found that our English translation is not accurate and many parts of the Bible are accurate based on true translation. For example, the Bible says that the world was created in 7 dias. We translated that to be days. However, now with more research, science has found that dias was much more. Possibly decades, or even more.
What I'm saying is there is plenty of room for both science and religion to co-exist. We're only learning as we go. I personally believe in God. I don't believe in the bible so much as I know it most likely isn't accurate. My beliefs are based on the fact that when I die, or when someone I love dies, hopefully we'll have somewhere to go. I find that more peaceful then knowing my husband is going to rot in the ground when he dies. I feel sad if you don't have hope for something better after this life. That does not in any way make me an idiot.
Re: RobPnMeShouldB – Sure…. except my opinion is based on tangeable evidence and has been proven many times over, while your offer not a single piece of evidence. Human history doesn't care what makes you feel good and fuzzy, it has no concern for human emotions. It is what it is, and reality is evolution. Simple as that.
Believe in a creator of the universe, no problem, because that is actually still a possibility, since science hasn't explained the big bang itself, only what happened a millisecond afterwards. But don't you dare insult scientists all over the world by claiming that you and a book written by a bunch of humans 2000 years ago know better than them.
@Chibey I am a scientist. I have an Honours degree in Environmental Earth Science and am currently working on my masters degree, studying the Sudbury Ejecta Basin. Which occured almost 2 billion years ago, quite a varience from the 6000 years old you and millions of other idiots believe the world to be. So no science and religion cannot just " co exist". The sad things is you can get an Earth Science degree in Texas and still belive the world is 6000 years old.
It's a fairly naive retelling. It's generally acknowledged among most that the seven days aren't a literal seven days. Time doesn't matter to God, it's man made. Therefore there is no seven days nor twenty-four hours. One day could've been a million years, theoretically.
Re: Chibey – I'm an actual social scientist who also needs to be very aware of the physical sciences.
Science has proven that the interpretation of the Bible claiming Earth was created in a matter of days is off by billions of years. There's no debating that fact.
Re: Chibey – I pretty much agree with exactly what you said I don't see how having faith makes someone an idiot, sure science can disprove many things in the bible that's fine after all it was written by man and like you said it is most likely not completely accurate but science has never proven there is no god or what happens to us after death. If you choose to believe all that happens is you rot that's fine there is no reason to ridicule someone for not believing the same thing as you.
Re: Chibey – I am hobby scientist for now and read a lot about the topic but I'm going to go back to university to study astrophysics. The more I read about physics, the more I realize how accurate the big bang theory is. The bible is just a later version of Greek mythology. Nice to read, you can take some good life lessons from it, I guess, but it's not even a bit more accurate in explaining the beginning of the earth, universe or humans than the bible is. Both are myths and outdated.

"However, now with more research, science has found that dias was much more. Possibly decades, or even more." Real science, not Christian science, has found that the creation in that sense never happened at all, neither during 6 day nor 6 millenia. The earth formed in the aftermath of the Big Bang 4.5 billion years ago, and homo sapiens only came into the picture some couple 100,000 years ago.

As far your afterlife: don't you think that if you lived this one life to the fullest and made it the best it possibly can be, you wouldn't have to rely on an after life? If you don't fuck it up the first time, you wouldn't need a "second chance". I'm gonna focus all my power on this life because it's the only one I get, and that way, I get to live it without fear of anything else but my own failure. Like I said: history doesn't care about what makes you "feel better".
Re: maryjane420 – No reputable university, even in Texas, teaches that crap. You may get that at Pat Robertson University, but not at A&M, Rice, UT or any other American university.
WHAT is going on in this country? Seemingly civilized human beings, able to maintain employment, pay their bills, raise children…actually think the world is only several thousand years old??? Based on what? What people at that time "thought"??? They were theorists, not scientists! They did KNOW any better. They also thought the earth was flat at that time, and THAT was proven wrong, now wasn't it?? Believe in your "god" all you want, but to believe that the lies written in the bible are FACT over scientific proof AND pure LOGIC is absolutely astounding.
Re: missmanda83 – ok, even if we make that stretch, we KNOW that plants were not here before the sun and the moon. It's just a messed up bunch of nonsense told around the fire by a illiterate, ignorant goatherders that thought the earth was flat.
Re: Serena Loves Mario – I don't think she meant to say that such programs in Texas universities teach that the earth is 6000 years old. I have heard of people who went on to get advanced degrees in the sciences, like genetics or even physics, and still believed in creation.
In fact, one person told me about his niece whose sole purpose for studying genetics was to prove people wrong about evolution. She got a scholarship to get her PhD at Stanford but gave up after a year because “the entire faculty (in Stanford genetics department) are idiots.” lol so she got married and had babies. True story…
Im not sure about the storyline…I think they should focus on the story of adam and eve instead
@ Serena Loves Mario
Agreed that most American universities are better than that, but I assure you it is true, sad but true. Thats just another reason I am so happily Canadian.
and who the hell brought up Rob Pat?
@ Ze German
No not only is there an Earth science program in Texas that will graduate "scientists" who say the Earth is 6000 years old. They passed legislature in general specific to creationist so they can give the wrong anser on exams and still pass their class.
Re: FemTrek Forever – right on! my gosh, i HATE 3-d…gives me such a headache!
i don't get all the name calling…so people believe in God & the Bible…as long as they are not trying to ram it down your throat, aren't they entitled to believe what they believe? i find that i can have very informative, civil discussions with people who have views that differ from mine. you can never learn enough about what is out there…even if you don't incorporate it into your belief system, you are at least becoming educated enough to make an informed decision.
Re: maryjane420 – Really? I live in Texas and did not know that. *Sigh* Oh how I love this place…
LOL!
Do you seriously have to crop nudity out of historical paintings?
Loves!
Re: Chibey – what you just wrote indicates that you are a complete idiot.
Re: A&Cmomma – I'm all for discussing and do it a lot. Bu as soon as I know that someone is a creationist, I will ban him/her from my existence. Believing that stupidity is beyond comprehension for me and an indication that that person is out of his head.
Re: Orator – Agreed! If its ok for Me Gibson to do it why not someone else, regardless of what people believe
If you believe in the bible and creationism you believe that the world is only 6000 years old that means that dinosaurs are made up and never existed. Are all those dinosaur bones an atheist plot ? Please be real now! No one should be that unintelligent.
Religion has no right to deny truth, if you want to believe in a higher being that is your choice but you have no right to deny facts. My mor|bror (uncle from my mothers side) likes to believe in a god but he doesn't deny the fact of evolution or that the bible is full of easy to prove false hoods, he just likes to believe there is something more. The facts are as aussieone said Life on Earth can not be explained without evolution it is not a theory it is a fact.
Re: maryjane420 – Anyone can graduate with a science degree from a reputable university and even obtain a PhD whilst believing the Earth is 6000 years old, but they are certainly not taught that and legislation doesn't allow them to pass an exam by putting incorrect answers for the Earth's age. Texas is not that backwards. I think you've been misinformed.
I have a friend who is a brilliant scientist, close to obtaining his PhD in chemistry, and he doesn't "believe" in evolution. He had to push his beliefs aside to pass exams, because the university would never pass him if he answered anything incorrectly.

LMAO well ALL-RIGHTY then!
Re: Aussieone –
hello aussieone I stole post 91 from an old post from you. What you wrote on the bible and gays helped my gay friend to thank you
Re: Serena Loves Mario – That is correct. Adam and Eve would have had darker complexions. The African race was the first race and other races came from that race after migrating from Africa.

It was good stuff

Re: Serena Loves Mario – ROFL! That's also correct! It'll be like a FANTASY story in form of a FANTASY movie, in 3-D!
