Robbie Williams Called Out For Crush On Cannabis!

wenn2763343rw.jpg

Whoops!

Robbie Williams was interviewed in the Radio Times Williams where he said of smoking pot:

"Have a look at [me] last year. Yep. Year of the Munchie 2009. Weed, it’s such a lovely drug. It is such a lovely drug. But it doesn’t mix well with me – at all.

"It doesn’t take much to trigger – I mean, I’ll get psychosis from having this cup of tea! Seriously. The caffeine in that is enough. A cup of tea will make me feel like shit. But it’s just a shame about weed, because I did love it."

Naturally there is an outcry against the singer for his "irresponsible" comments, especially since his new track "Morning Sun" was just chosen as the official Sport Relief song, a charity that raises money for the disadvantaged including people affected by drug abuse.

David Gilbert, chief executive of drugs education and awareness charity DARE, explains:

"This is grossly irresponsible. He is a role model. Young people look up to him, they admire him, they want to emulate him so saying something like this is thoughtless.

"His comments make it sound like he is promoting cannabis use – even though it is known that it is harmful and has links to mental illness. In saying cannabis is a ‘lovely drug’ young people who had not previously tried it - may be tempted to – and others may believe that there are no ill effects."

Better keep your trap shut next time, Robbie — or fill it with munchies!

I call foul! there are no empirical studies confirming that weed causes "mental illness" or is harmful…this is so lame! Robbie Williams should not be called out for this.

DARE needs to stop the lies and get their facts straight.

    2. 2

Yeah & I'm sure David Gilbert probably has a big & tall 'Jack & Coke' every night when he gets home from work. How would Mr.Gilbert take it if prohibition was reinstated? I'm sure he would be forced to have to go underground methods to getting his drink on. HYPOCRITE!

    3. 3

DARE needs to suck it. Seriously get over it.

    4. 4

LOL, STUPID MOFO!! KNEW THIS IDIOT WAS STILL ON WEED. THAT FREAKY GLASSY EYE LOOK HE HAD ON XFACTOR UK LAST YR. THIS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING. DOUCHE BAG IS NOT SOBER AT ALL. AT LEAST THE JACK ASS ADMITTED HE'S OFF HIS ROCKER. REHAB HERE WE COME! SUBO IS NEXT.

    5. 5

Oh please… it shouldn't even be illegal in the first place!!!!!!!!! The only "ill effect" here is ignorance.

    6. 6

I agree with Robbie Williams. Also, I took DARE before and it hasn't stopped me from doing drugs (coke, crack, weed, alcohol, tobacco), so whatever.

    7. 7

      weird

    8. 8

jeez - lighten up people! It will be legal soon. Deal with people who drink to much. That has WAY worse effects!

    9. 9

from Wikipedia: Indeed, a 2007 meta-analysis estimated that cannabis use is statistically associated, in a dose-dependent manner, to an increased risk in the development of psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia.[70] No causal mechanism has been proven, however, and the meaning of the correlation and its direction is a subject of debate that has not been resolved in the scientific community.
Gilbert needs to take a statistics course–CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION!!! It means nothing (or very little) that marijuana is "linked" to mental illness. Just another way anti-drug people try to demonize marijuana, with mixed up facts.

    10. 10

      hahah harmful drug…haha…..

It is less toxic than any prescription drug on the market… It has many benefits for the brain and wellness throughout the body. Less addictive than any prescription medication and cheaper. More people are addicted to caffeine.

Robbie doesn't have to apologize for shit!

      DARE needs to get educated.

    11. 11

      Oh, jeebus.

Kids are going to try weed, just like kids are gonna drink. They know what the dangers are. Schools are very good at educating the youth about the dangers of drug use. However, I don't think that they are going to run out and find a joint just because this guy said he likes it. All they need is to have older kids or older friends around to get them interested– that's the influence you should be worrying about.

CELEBRITIES DON'T RAISE YOUR KIDS– YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate how people still pull out the "it's harmful" and "it's linked to mental illness." Yeah, sure, and so is sugar and caffeine. Do you see anyone banning them???? In Britain, you can drink at 16– but somehow, weed is too dangerous? Give me a break.

    12. 12

      lmao at the picture

    13. 13

All the goody goodies out there that are against marijuana shut the fuck up and take a hit!!!!!

    14. 14

He is such a looser, tho'. Probably has never dealt with 'who he really is', if ya get my drift. Once he accepts his sexuality, all will be good.

    15. 15

Um…calling somebody who has gone to rehab several times a role model is just silly.

    16. 16

      Amen he speaks the TRUTH

    17. 17

      robbie williams is so 1990s.

    18. 18

There is NOTHING AT ALL wrong with weed! Everyone should smoke it!!

    19. 19

Re: xcalibur – obviously you are the idiot if you think smoking weed requires rehab. It's not addictive in the least, dumbass.

    20. 20

david gilbert is just another hysteric. fuck him and fuck everybody who wants to keep this plant away from people. if you don't like weed then don't smoke it but don't waste everybody's time trying to scare people. leave the sacred weed alone.

    21. 21

He did talk about why it was bad for him. That guy that criticized him made no mention of that, maybe he didn't read the whole thing. But he's talking to people that use the drug, and he's not trying to be offensive to them, but just remind them that it can cause psycosis and… gasp, munchies. I get what he's saying, he shouldn't have been criticized. I agree with his comments as well.

    22. 22

David Gilbert's description of young people is disgusting. Robbie Williams is a "role model"??? He's admired by the young?? They want to emulate him?!? Wow. Just Wow. David needs to take a puff or two himself and settle down.

    23. 23

I actually think it's irresponsible for him to say that it causes psychosis. That's ridiculous to say the least. And SO WHAT if he's saying he like to smoke weed? There's nothing wrong with that!! I can't even believe that there are still groups that are against marijuana use. What morons…

    24. 24

Back in 1992, I was 42 years old, and it was the first time I did weed.
My first reaction, after all the coughing was, "I said no to this for all these years? Damn you Nancy Reagan."
      -
It has not been a gateway drug for me in the least. It's a lot nicer to chill out, than drinking a bottle of wine or sucking on martini's all night.

    25. 25

I love you Perez but seriously relax! People and society have bigger problem with alcohol abuse than they do with all drugs combined. I can say I know this on a professional basis as I am a paramedic that is constantly dealing with alcohol intoxication and abuse about 8 times in a day but in my 8 year career I have never attended to a person that was stoned on weed. In fact weed was only made illegal due to the pressure put on the American governemnt by paper producers because hemp was a superior product and they got scared their livelyhood would be taken away. So until you actually know what you are talking about shut the fuck up!

      Got 420? I bet he does!! :)

    27. 27

sound like Perez you are eatting everything the American Government tells you and not questioning it. That is sad because usually you don't just get spoonfed the government's (and DEA's) propaganda. Move to Canada and maybe we can help you with the ignorance against THC.

    28. 28

I just hate how people call weed a drug. it ISN'T. it's a natural plant. if someone were to smoke basil, would it be a drug? I dunno about other states…but here in Cali there is this stuff called Salvia. It's legal, can be purchased in a head shop. I smoke weed on a daily basis, tried Salvia, and that shit is insane! I can't believe how far the government has taken this "weed is a drug" bullshit…all to protect the money they'd lose if marijuana was legalized, and hemp replaced the paper/tree destroying industry.

    29. 29

weed IS such a lovely drug…every bit of the plant is useful
      in essence, it is perfect

    30. 30

Good for him. Its just pot, a herb that grows in the ground. NOT A DRUG… Who cares what these drug advocate people say…

    31. 31

Was Robbie Williams ever hot?!?! The dudes so fat old and boring looking. I can't see how he has so many girl fans. He's totally cheezy looking too. Gawd someone push him down some stairs or something.

    32. 32

Does anyone else see the resemblance to him and Perez in this PICTURE lol! too funny!

    33. 33

rofl at people thinking celebs actually have enough power to get a kid hooked on drugs..How self absorbed are these people and how stupid are the people that keep blaming people in the public eye for the actions of others. Every kid in my family at 16ish has smoked cigarettes/weed, has drank..and I gurandamntee you that not a single one of them has tried one of them because their favorite athlete/actress has said they have done it..Get real you fuck nuts as much as you'd like to think people "follow" you…they don't..rofl

Re: SammiDe – hahahaha!!!! i really cracked up!!!! thnax!!

    38. 38

What's wrong with him saying what he thinks, Perez? This one hitting just a little to close to home, guy? Maybe it's time to go find the Bong and make things all better????

    39. 39

Flash to a pic of Tom Sizemore on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew and you have this guy in 20 years. Do a side-by-side, I bet the resemblance is uncanny.

    40. 40

Maybe one day they will figure out that mankind does not make seeds…and id like to see the day that Dare called out God for it…maybe they should try that one and see how far that gets them…and as a matter of fact the resin from it was used in ancient times to cauterize wounds…and for many other ailments…but im sure they are the same ones that will go pop some prescription pills when they have an ailment…

    41. 41

What's wrong with honesty ? Are we all supposed to lie like politicians ? And by the way it's an herb, not a drug.

    42. 42

I love Rob and he's right - weed is lovely!!

    43. 43

Too bad Corey Haim didn't only use weed he's probably be alive today!!!!

They need to get over their hypocritical selves, but at the same time he should know better by now. Zip your lip when there are silly laws involved.
