A woman from Owensboro, KY, was arrested for public intoxication Friday night and sprayed the cop booking her in the face WITH BREAST MILK!!!

Luckily for the world, breast milk is apparently considered third degree assault in a court of law and so girlfriend got SLAMMED. And that poor cop had to be DECONTAMINATED!!

Has anyone else considered the fact that this woman is probably breastfeeding? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that except for the fact you aren't supposed to drink while breastfeeding because alcohol is excreted through the glands to the baby. Messed up through and though!

Re: Nonnahs – You can still drink while breastfeeding. Just don't breastfeed while you're drunk and no alcohol will pass through to baby. The amount of alcohol that does pass through isn't too great, either.

The woman apparently had not taken her LaLeche classes or she would have known that she indeed does pass alcohol through her breastmilk — just like she would if she were taking pills, snorting coke, or ingesting any other drug. Really, the point of how much she's passing on is ridiculous — the idea is YOU DON'T PASS ANYTHING bad to your baby in your breastmilk. With an infant, who knows how much is "safe"? Are you willing to risk your kid's life for a drink of booze? Some women won't even eat chocolate because of the minute amount of caffeine it contains, that YES, does get passed on to the baby. Alcohol in any form while breastfeeding is just wrong. Anybody who says different should never, ever become a parent.

Jeez, did she actually MEAN to fire the milk-cannons at the officer? I mean, when I was nursing, sometimes those things would go off by themselves if I hadn't nursed my daughter in several hours. Granted, it's kind of hard to get it to go all the way across a room, but if the officer was standing right in front of her when she pulled off her shirt, I can see how she might get hit.
Oh, and you can drink alcohol when you're lactating. You just have to express the milk and not feed the baby until you sober up.
Re: KCRosie – You're half right. Once the alcohol (or anything else that you've had) is no longer in your blood stream, your milk is safe. Got that directly from the doctor, because I had to take antibiotics while nursing, and I ended up having to "pump and dump" for a week, until I finished with the meds. That's where you pump the milk and dispose of it, just to keep your supply going. Whatever is your blood stream at the time you nurse your baby, the baby will get some of it in the milk. As long as the woman didn't nurse her baby while she was drunk, the baby would be fine. Getting drunk once does not permanently contaminate someone's breast milk, mkay? Use the google-machine if you don't believe.

When I was lactating I used to get a kick out of spraying unsuspecting friends/my hubby with breastmilk! Did you know it comes out of 16 tiny holes, spraying in all directions? I could spray milk about 10 feet. Once I was at a red light and my window was down and so was the car's next to me. I had such an urge to spray him (I didn't).
