Amy Lee & The New Evanescence

Evanescence will finally release another record, after waiting four years since their last album dropped

Except don't expect the same Evanescence you once knew!

For starters, only one person remains from the original Grammy-winning band - Amy Lee. You'll recall that all the original boys in the band parted ways with Amy sometime ago to form a new group called Fallen, with new lead singer Carly Smithson.

It's safe to say that Amy hasn't spoken to her original crew in sometime, but she emerges now with new set of musicians and a new sound for the band. She explains:

“It's not an organic record. Our idea is to take synthetic and atmospheric sounds and find a way to blur the line between organic and synthetic… There is something really cool happening in music right now. There are bands that sound like they're from another time — it's like '80s throwback music with analogue synthesizers and Moogs. I love it. I've been listening to a lot of La Roux.”

That's nice, but fans like the old Evanescence sound. And if you don't give it to them, don't be surprise if some of them "fall" in line with another band.

LOL, "that's nice but fans like the old evanescence sound!" How true how true. This is like when Kelly Clarkson tried to push a rock album. Stick to your guns!!

  2. 2

    Plus, she's a bitch.

  3. 3

The band's name is actually "We Are the Fallen", they had to change it since it was too close to Evanescence's first album.

After fans have waited four years for new material, if it isn't great this band's done.

  4. 4

Actually, they had to change their name from "The Fallen" to "We Are The Fallen" because there was already a band called "The Fallen", and they had the rights… :)

  5. 5

    Delta Burke..is that you?

  6. 6

    brklvcheer: Lol.

  7. 7

Being a HUGE Evanescence fan, I am actually nervous about the new album. They want to make it with synthesizers and all these 80's sound…? I'm into rock not techno crap. I did hear We Are the Fallen, and they do sound great, too much like Evanescences' Fallen album, but hey, that's the sound that turned me on to Evanescence. I really hope Evanescence's new album doesn't dissappoint me… :/

Amy Lee is and always will be Evanescence

  9. 9

Amy Lee can do no wrong…the album will be amazing and I can't wait!!! :)

  10. 10

  11. 11

why the fuck are you giving attitude to Amy Lee like pulling slimii from under some rock makes you a musical authority?
Amy is a genius and just hearing the clip she posted of them in the studio was enough to know that the album will be great…
    p.s follow me on t w i t t e r my names FUTURESTARdelux thanks x

  12. 12

She reminds me of Delta Burke. Very pretty girl. Great voice too.

  13. 13

Amy can't do no wrong. We are the fallen sucks.

  14. 14

Sorry but Evanescence went down hill the moment Ben Moody left.

  15. 15

She's looking like Delta Burke. N'est-ce pas?

  16. 16

I never followed them closely, their sound was too over-the-top and Serious for me. But why did they break up at the height of their fame? Seems impulsive and stupid. I'm sure Amy has enough rabid fans to follow anything she does from now on.

Amy, lose your diva complex or tour as a solo artist. Your band bailed on you because of it and you know it. Stop lying to yourself and your fans and come clean already! You have a good voice but it was a team effort, regardless of how you feel about Ben and company.

  18. 18

    isn't evanescence a jesus band?

  19. 19

    This made my day!

  20. 20

Actually Perez Hilton, Amy Lee said the band will influenced by artists such as Massive Attack, Bjork, and Portishead. & The band will still have that Evanescence sound and that heavy rock music but twisted into an electro pop direction. I'm sure the album won't sound completely different because I do not want Evanescence to come out with a motherfucking country album.

Re: la poopsiekins – Ben Moody and Amy Lee were best friends. Shit happened and Ben Moody left the band in the middle of the tour of the first Evanescence album titled "Fallen". They met in the Grammys 2004 and it was awkward. So then it was just Amy. Then the band took a break and they came back with The Open Door in 2006. The shit happened again in the band and Amy Lee fired John LeCompt because he didn't want to be in Evanescence anymore and yes, Lee and LeCompt are no longer friends. Rocky Gray did not want to be in the band either and he was planning to leave a week before Lee's marriage. I think Gray was fired too. Then Lee for some reason took another break and now she and the new line up of Evanescence will return in Fall 2010. While Amy Lee's ex- Best Friend Forever, Ben Moody created We Are The Fallen (name sound familiar?) and got that nasty lying bitch Carly Smithson from American Idol (who use to be a pop star *cough* Carly Hennessy) to front the band, even though she hardly ever dressed like that before and her solo slbum she was creating before meeting Ben Moody sounds very very different than the music of We Are The Fallen. So yeah. Amy Lee is back bitches!!

  22. 22

    will BE influenced by* (typo)

  23. 23

The Name of the other band is We Are The Fallen, not just Fallen!!! And Carly I think sounds just as good and looks like Amy's twin people won't even notice they made a trade out!

  24. 24

Oh NO…this is the some of the worst news ever! Now I might have to endure more airplay from this chick…her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I can't turn the channel fast enough…much like that Hailey chick from Paramour. Sweet Jeebus!!! It's HORRIBLE!

  25. 25

    Cute girl though…

  26. 26

Musically Evanesence wasn't really that complicated - at least on the first album. A lot of vamping on 5ths. Her voice is what made it. I don't know how involved she was in writing lyrics - but the girl does have an ear for melody… so she'll probably do just fine.

  27. 27

Re: BANANAhoho – Oh, so you know what Carly's solo album was going to sound like? You know what kind of music she was going to make after the AI tour ended? I'd also like to know how you know she's all those names you called her? You've met her? Talked with her? Funny cause I have and she's NONE of those things.

I am a huge fan of both Amy and Carly and I'm not sick of this stupid "feud" that people have dreamed up. If you read Amy's SPIN interview, she has moved on and doesn't want to live in the past. So why are we? And even if she hasn't, her "feud" is with Ben and her other old bandmates, NOT Carly. As crazy as it sounds, people can be fans of both bands and enjoy them both.

If people want to compare We Are The Fallen to Evanescence, that's fine because it's bound to happen for many reasons. But one band is not a threat to the other… both can co-exist and make great music. If you don't like one or the other, then don't listen to their music. Pretty simple.

That all said, I'm excited to hear both We Are The Fallen's new album ('Tear the World Down - May 11th) AND Amy's new album. Both will be amazing, I'm sure.

  28. 28

Re: Shelly77 – Yup. I sure do. She even gave previews of her songs in interviews and they sound really different from We Are The Fallen stuff. She even said herself that she did not want to go too hard rock or too pop but yet she goes and joins We Are The Fallen. And on top of that lie, she has lied about her pop star past on American idol & continues to not come clean about some stuff. I actually didn't really have much of a problem with her. I thought her music on her solo album after american idol sounded great. Exactly how I thought she was going to sound like. But she changed her mind to join Ben Moody, Evanescence himself. And funny, I have met her. Just a quick hello & good bye though. Look, Carly seems like a really nice cute adorable Irish girl next door type of person and she can sing, possibly even better than Amy Lee, but Smithson is a liar.

  29. 29

Re: Shelly77 – Anyway, back to Amy, I read the new SPIN interview. Her answer was a fib. Honestly, do you think her reaction to We Are The Fallen was a small shrug of the shoulders? No. She even dedicated a MySpace Blog talking about the whole thing and saying there's weird stuff going around in the press. And I never said she was in a feud with Carly. First of all, Amy Lee does not really know who Carly is and I doubt she ever met her. There's mostly likely no doubt that there is some issues that Amy & Ben have with each other that they don't really feel to fix. Yeah, people can be fans of both bands. Its not crazy, its realistic. The music is pretty good but the people (Amy, Ben, John) have got to get their crap together and stop being such little babies. Forgiveness. Ever heard of that? And its only natural for people to compare We Are The Fallen to Evanescence for many reasons. We Are The Fallen are, in a way, a threat to Evanescence. Sure they can make great music, but what if We Are The Fallen is more successful than Evanescence? I doubt Amy will be jumping with joy about that. Anyway, yes, I am eager to see what Evanescence will come up with. Sounds very interesting.

My experience of meeting Amy and Evanescence was that she was EXTREMELY rude to myself and my friend, and her band, who repeatedly profusely apologised for her, who said 'she's always like this.' I really loved her music until then.

I met someone else who had met the band at a concert and all Amy had said to her was "don't give my band V.D." so rude.

  31. 31

Re: BANANAhoho – Thanks for explaining! It sounds like their personal lives were every bit as dramatic as their sound! I heard Moody worked with Kely Clarkson (and maybe more) on that awful "My December". To my ear it sounded like she was really trying to take over the old Evanescence fomula and it failed miserably.

  32. 32

What happened to Evanescence? When did this happen? I just checked out the Carly Smithson band and it's too close to Evanescence, yet not identical, for me to like. If she's changing her sound, who will give me my Evanescence fix??

  33. 33

i totally loved the album fallen but i hated the open door it sounded different so if the new record it's worse than the open door don't expect me to buy it

  34. 34

Her band left because she's a biiiotch!

  35. 35

Woooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooo!! I've been waiting for years!

  36. 36

Re: paulina=dan radcliffe fan #1 – its okay i think there will be plenty of people in line to buy the album. so go listen to ur radio music and we will stick our b siders. not only that but im sry if everytime they make a diffrent album it has a diffrent sound. amy and they guys change over time if you see a artist that makes the same record over and over again they are lying nobody feels the same way year after year. amys just proving it that she is a great artist.
