Because Studios Don't Have Any Brains, Heart Or Courage…

A Wizard of Oz remake is in the works!

Is nothing sacred???

Sources are claiming that Warner Bros. Studios is looking to revamp the classic Judy Garland flick for the new generation. Allegedly, there are two treatments floating around Hollywood at the moment.

The first is in the hands of New Line Cinemas and Temple Hill, one of the producing forces behind Twilight. Their version is simply called Oz and is keeping to a lighter fare with Darren Lemke at the helm of the script. (His last work - Shrek Forever After)

The other treatment is far worse darker and is being handled directly by Warner Bros. This script finds Dorothy's granddaughter thrust into the not so merrily land of Oz to fight "evil."

Because somehow the Wicked Witch of the West survived becoming a puddle? Really? This is necessary?

We don't want to see either of these…EVER!

What about U?

Smart by the company standpoint- look how well "Alice" did this past weekend.

      But…yeah fuck movie studios.

    2. 2

Why not? your a dbag dude. This is new technology..why not share stories and good story lines with a younger new group of kids?

    3. 3

      No, no…….NO!

    4. 4

      HELLO TO THE NO

    5. 5

i can see it now: The Bible 2.0. Jesus is Back! And this time, it's personal!

    6. 6

Remake…no. Sequels…okay. There were a lot of wizard of Oz book. Then could use them to continue the series. I still want a freakin Wicked movie….

    7. 7

Why not make a movie of "Wicked" (the book) instead?

    8. 8

incase you dont know, in 1978 "the wiz" came out which was kind of a remake. whats the big deal?

    9. 9

Meh. I hate the Judy Garland version, Return to Oz was MUCH better. It's a lot closer to the books. I might see this one, but I won't hold out hope for it being true to the books.

    10. 10

a remake would be a bit lame, but being inside the twister in 3D would be fricking awesome!! The "dark" version has potential, but it'd have to be a pretty good storyline

    11. 11

      WORST. IDEA. EVER.

      Don't touch it!

    12. 12

      Kate Gosselin as the Scarecrow

    13. 13

i am too sad today for anymore fuckery

    14. 14

      NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    15. 15

What about The Wiz? Is nothing sacred you ask.

    16. 16

CAN WE JUST LEAVE THE MOVIES FROM WAY BACK WHEN like it was unnecessary when they made sequel for disney movies like peter pan and the little mermaid but now "Wizard of Oz"???? lets leave the original plot and purpose of that movie alone and not kill it by making a second part to it!

    17. 17

Kill it with Fire…immediately. These idiots are dealing with the Holy Grail, and they must be stopped by any means necessary.

    18. 18

I'm soooo tried of seeeing all these classics being remade. They are CLASSIC MOVIES for a reason. By both companies changing the movie is considered to NOT BE A CLASSIC but rather just another "movie". I would be SO disappointed if this happens!!!

    19. 19

Did we learn nothing from "The Wiz" people?

    20. 20

Sure! Why not!? It's always cool to see where it may go. Look at the musical, Wicked?

    21. 21

Classics are classics for a reason… let the younger generation appreciate they modern movies they have today by viewing older movies, I mean besides, those actors/actresses could ACTUALLY act!!!

    22. 22

please no!!! if a movies already amazing why try and change it? I could understand if the original Oz was crap…but it wasnt so don't change it!

    23. 23

B to the L to the E to the C to the H!!!

    24. 24

      BOOOOO!!!

      stupid asses!!

    25. 25

      NO.

      PLEASE.

      GOD NO.

    26. 26

Just make Wicked and the other two Greg MacGuire books into movies. they would be fantabulous!!!!!!!!

    27. 27

There will only ever be one Dorothy and it was Judy Garland!

    28. 28

THIS CANNOT HAPPEN! NO REMAKE, NO STUPID SEQUAL…JUST LEAVE THE CLASSICS ALONE! WHY WOULD THEY NEED TO REVAMP THIS WHEN IT IS STILL THE MOST WATCH ED MOVIE OF ALL TIME!

    29. 29

i will not be seeing that! that would ruin a classic! why not make a movie of wicked or something before remaking such a classic film!

    30. 30

Great biz decision on the studio's part. I'm open to anything that's good. If it gets good reviews, I'll go see it. If it doesn't, I won't. Period.

    31. 31

If they're gonna remake, then I hope they do it right. As in not following the WB's idea of making a sequel. I'd like to see a proper remake, which means not changing the story or throwing in new characters or anything of the like.

    32. 32

NO! They don't need to mess with The Wizard of Oz. How irritating! Are there no more original ideas out there that people have to remake classics? I guess the Godfather is next.

    33. 33

you do not touch the holy grail that is The Wizard of Oz… it' been 70 years and they still can't make a movie as good… it would be sacrilege…

    34. 34

      Re: B.4.I.Jump – LMAO!!

    35. 35

Ah! They should try to tie Wicked into it! That'd be awesome.

    36. 36

      Don't do it.

    37. 37

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I'm sick of all these fucking remakes.. GROW UP HOLLYWOOD And pay a nice new writer a few more bux to wrtie something original!!! I'm sure there are thousands of them floating around.

    38. 38

No way in HELL would I ever watch a remake of this movie!! It cannot be made better. It is a classic that cannot be outdone. Some movies are simply perfect the first go round. The first version was magic and still brings magic to generations 70 years later!

    39. 39

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!!!

    40. 40

      Don't fuck with a classic.

    41. 41

Srsly? someone should find these scripts and BURN them. Lets not screw up another legend please…..

    42. 42

      Anne Hathaway should be Dorthy!!!

    43. 43

      NO.

    44. 44

      NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    45. 45

      and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO again!!

    46. 46

Re: bongo – Thank you for that! Kate Gosselin would be epic as the scarecrow!!!!

    47. 47

NO. NO. NO. Nobody wants to see the dreck they put out if they try to remake this perfect CLASSIC.. leave it untouched! I sure as hell won't see it. And I WILL be so pissed if Tim Burton gets his hands on it! That would be terrible!

Leave JUDY alone!!! Nobody…nobody, I don't care how talented a singer they think they are, can even come close to Judy's "Over the rainbow"

    48. 48

No, No, No! When it comes to movies this would be like re-writting a chapter of the Bible or re-recording all the Beatles albums. Alice in Wonderland was a Disney cartoon, classic yes but not one of the greatest films ever made. Is there a child that hasn't seen the original Wizard of Oz? Even 70 something years later it's still magical. Fuck these studios for even thinking this was a good idea to explore. This better NEVER happen.

    49. 49

Actually, The Wizard of Oz is a remake itself. There was old, silent movie called Wizard of Oz with the same storyline.

    50. 50

Oh please god no DO NOT let Tim Burton near this - still recovering from his masscare of Willy Wonka… Nobody can touch Gene Wilder NOR Judy Garland…

    51. 51

Why can't people continue to make ORIGINAL movies these days? So sad that its come to remake after remake :(

    52. 52

are you barley talking about sacred did you not see the wiz? come on realy!!

    53. 53

As if you brains, heart or courage typing shit behind your computer about people you don't even know…sometimes people just piss against the wind right perez?

    54. 54

I really hope this isn't true. This would be the FINAL nail in the media coffin, they produce enough shitty films and songs these days, and now they want to ruin one of the classes. Hell no.

    55. 55

They have already done a "Darker" Side of this move, kind of. In 2007 they had the tv mini series Tin Man. I own it on DVD and I really liked it. It had Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming, Richard Dreyfuss, and Kathleen Robertson in it. It is very strange and dark. It was a success when it was premiered.

    56. 56

oh god no. please no. no no no.

    57. 57

I would like to see Tim Burton do it

    58. 58

THEY SHOULDN'T MESS WITH A CLASSIC..AT LEAST NOT THIS ONE

    59. 59

they already have a wizard of oz two, i don't remember if it was called that but it's weird, dorthy goes to like shock therapy cause no one believes her about oz then she goes back to oz and everyone is turned to stone and there is a witch who changes her head and a guy with a pumpkin head….seriously. that's all i remember lol but it's totally been done.

    60. 60

The Wizard of Oz should be left alone - it is classic and untouchable.
There is also a huge difference in that there was never a definitive Alice movie, so it wasn't as if Tim Burton was re-making an iconic film.

    61. 61

I fucking dare an actress to go up for the role of dorthy

    62. 62

Screw remakes, I WANT WICKED! That hasn't been made, and it needs to be made into a movie!

    63. 63

I'll admit, the second plot idea sounds kinds of good. That being said though, HELL FREAKING NO!!!!! The Wizard of Oz is one of my favourite movies. Please don't ruin it by remaking it. Please.

    64. 64

OH HELL NO!!! This is just disrespectful, you can't redo JUDY GARLAND. Who are they going to get for Dorothy? Gross.

      65

I hope Jessica Parker is cast as the witch. She has the nose for it and she's FUGLY.

    66. 66

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Just straight up NO.

    67. 67

      In 3D no doubt…

    68. 68

I didn't read all the comments, so I don't know if someone suggested this. But I think the only person capable of remaking that movie and making it good, is Tim Burton.

    69. 69

Re: I HATE MICHAELBAY&STEPHANIEMEYERS – I LOVE Return To Oz!! When I watched that movie as a child I was so afraid of the wheelies and the wicked witch of the east because she could remove her head! The head that she liked the best was such a scary b**ch. The deadly desert scared me too. I actually bought that movie a few years ago. I loved Tick Tock and the lunch pail tree! It always made me hungry.

Re: korndogger123 – Did you see The Wiz? It sucked. It is the only movie I've ever walked out on. Even with all that talent, it was truly horrible.

    72. 72

OMG NOOOOooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a classic! Leave it alone!

    73. 73

      FUCK NO!

this is the one movie that no one should every touch. EVER!

the original is timeless. hell, i saw it 40 years after it came out and its still one of my faves. no matter how much times passes, no remakes of this movie are allowably IMO.

      goddamn this sequal craze!

    74. 74

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! THIS IS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY THE END OF THE WORLD!!! ARMAGEDDON IS COMING!!!!!

    75. 75

i disagree theyve got the courage part, dont think itll pay off though

    76. 76

      I totally agree!

The Wizard of Oz IS sacred, and no, I will never watch a remake. They should spend that money on re-launching the original, trust me, even the kids of today would love it!

    77. 77

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    78. 78

well she survived become a puddle in wicked didn't she?

    79. 79

NO WAY! hideous concept. greedy studios trying to cash in on classics. havent heard anything so ridiculous since they unnecessarily remade Hairspray. WTF? john travolta playing divines original part. the make up is nothing short of distubingly vile.

    80. 80

This would probably be fantastic if Tim Burton got his hands on it.

      81

Hasn't anyone seen Wicked? Now that would be an awesome way to bring back The Wizard of Oz in film.

    82. 82

      It's already been remade….The Wiz.

    83. 83

I agree with you on this one, Perez: IS NOTHING SACRED!?! >___

    84. 84

NO EFFING WAY!!!!! ..sacriligious bastards…you leave that movie alone, it is what it is - share the original movie with the young generation, re-release it just the way it is around the holidays you idiots! Jesus God! ..why must you always think you have to vamp something up for the kids…and you wonder why they have such mind sets? too much is poured into their minds already.

    85. 85

Fuck that, no one should dance on Judy's grave

    86. 86

man……..this'll blow twilight outta the water !

    87. 87

alls i can say is no and why

    88. 88

      NOOOO! Nothing is sacred anymore!

    89. 89

      You can't remake a classic!
They don't need to make it "evil" either. People already find it creepy (when its really not) so no need to have more people hating on it

    90. npc25 says – reply to this

      90

for once, i completely agree with you fatty patty

    91. 91

So fucking ridiculous…this is almost Blashemy! You don't fuck with the Wizard of Oz…Man, Hollywood sucks…let's just remake every classic ever made…is there nothing original or sacred anymore?
