Webber Says 'Poo-Poo' To Phantom Sequel's Bad Reviews

We guess when you're as rich and successful as HE is, then you're allowed to shrug off some bad press!

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber has responded to the negative reviews on his latest musical, Love Never Dies, the sequel to The Phantom of Opera!!

Webber said:

"I've been in this business for over 40 years - 43 to be precise - I've never had a show which has been successful that hasn't had quite negative reviews. I'm not really sure how much reviews matter. Maybe they do for a small production, where it depends on getting people there. But there have been shows with rave reviews which nobody watches and come off after six months. You know when an audience is beginning to really respond. The last six shows we've had, we've had total standing ovations. That might not mean anything and if we get terrible reviews, everyone may go dead on the piece. But we've got such good performers out there, I couldn't ask for anyone better."

Well spoken!! That man has a lot of class!!

We figure since the music is good - it's basically been the only aspect of the show praised - then Love Never Dies will do just fine!!

SALW indeed has class, and no matter what he does, it's guaranteed to be a work of art. F the reviewers, let's see them make a musical.

I love Andrew's early work but he has not has a successful new production since 1986. I liked some of his stuff since like Aspects and whistle down the wind and it would be nice for this to succeed. But it sounds a bit silly.

Magicturd your comments are pretty stupid. What does it mean to be a work of art? Most stuff that is considered to be art is horrible crap. So by guaranteeing that it is a work of art does not guarantee it is good. Besides Andrew has not put out a new successful show in 25 years. I agree that reviews do not mean much when it comes to musicals and their success. Look at Wicked for example did not get the best reviews yet it is a great show.

    **LORD Andrew Lloyd Webber.

That man is so brilliant, that no matter what anyone says about it, Phantom will be brilliant. That's just the way it is.
