Chris Nolan On The Third And Final Batman Film?
That's what it sounds like from his point of view!
Director Chris Nolan opened up a bit about the third Batman film and the direction he wants to go sounds like it could be the last one! He revealed:
"We have a great ensemble, that's one of the attractions of doing another film, since we've been having a great time for years. Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story.
"And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story."
He didn't say which villain would appear in the next movie, just that Mr. Freeze was not going to show up. It's also unclear if the movie will continue from where The Dark Knight left off or start fresh with a new story featuring the Caped Crusader. Nolan continues:
"I'm very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we've done with the characters. My brother [screenwriter Jonathan Nolan] has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don't go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful.
"Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we're telling. And it harkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. That's what we do."
We don't think Warner Bros. will like this very much — it could mean the end of one of their major cash cows!

After spending bazillions on hi-tech gadgetry to fight two-bit criminals in the streets, Bruce Wayne realizes his money would have been better spent researching and battling AIDS, cancer, and other deadly diseases… unfortunately, the realization comes too late… in the end, Bruce Wayne has banged one too many hot reporters (this time a dude) only to contract HIV — a villain even Batman can't beat… sad.

You most be stupid to read in to this as if it is an end to the franchise. There might be a change of director, actors and a few years between. But they will make batman films for a long time to come. Look at what is happening to the Spiderman films. They are changing direction.

Spoiler Alert: I heard a year ago in a conference at work that Nolan privately tapped an actor to take on one of the most awesome villians ever the same way he tapped Heath Ledger to spin the Joker. Again if you dont wanna know STOP reading! He said he was focusing on recreating the Riddler and he wanted to make him much more dark and demented. He wanted the polar opposite from Jim Carreys take. His number one choice for the role was Eddie Murphy of all people. I was hesitant at first but after hearing his aide talk about his BRILLIANT take on the recreation I think who ever he picks to play the role will be about as epic as Heaths! Cant wait!
After Nolan is done, I think they should reboot the franchise again. Why continue to drag it out if it's going to have a new cast, directer, and writers?
Comics as old as Batman have been changed several times, so I think it's only fitting that comic movies get the same treatment.

I think Nolan has done wonders for Batman. Even if he finishes his trilogy, doesn't mean Warner can't make money in another 5 years with another directors take on it.

Re: #Cejers – Well, I gotta hand it to ya. That is the single WORST idea I have ever heard. Not a snowballs chance in hell of it happening, thank goodness. (And BTW, Ledger's joker was terrible. Great acting, great character, just NOT the joker at all, thankfully Two-Face was done so incredibly well, it saved the film. Dumb move killing him off though.)
And yes, I'm quite sure these movies will continue on, just keep getting revamped and redone by different people. Unfortunately, that isn't always for the better. Truly sad.
