GaGaloo Talks Telephone!!
Lady GaGa finally released the UNREAL music video extravaganza that is Telephone last night, and we were floored once again with her ability to infuse social commentary into her stylized, high concept clips!!
It was like watching what would happen if Thelma & Louise met up with Quentin Tarantino going WILD at a rave in the desert, and then started talking about post-modernity and existentialism over coffee afterward!!
Well, we weren't too off-base, because our beloved wifey is talking about the concept behind her video, as well as HOW she got Tarantino's seal of approval…and his Pussy Wagon!!
"There was this really amazing quality in 'Paparazzi,' where it kind of had this pure pop music quality but at the same time it was a commentary on fame culture. In its own way, even at certain points working with Jonas [Åkerlund, the director of both videos] really achieved this high art quality in the way that it was shot. I wanted to do the same thing with this video—take a decidedly pop song, which on the surface has a quite shallow meaning, and turn it into something deeper. There certainly is a Tarantino-inspired quality in the video. I mostly love the way he uses different forms to create something new. His direct involvement in the video came from him lending me the Pussy Wagon. We were having lunch one day in Los Angeles and I was telling him about my concept for the video and he loved it so much he said, 'You gotta use the Pussy Wagon.'"

Re: Laury – Ok, NO. I didn't like the video, but that is regardless. Do NOT compare this video to anything MJ did. His videos always were relevent to the song. When he wrote a song he meant it and the video was always an extension of the song. Her Paparazzi and Bad Romance were good, but this one was pointless and nothing like MJ would've done.

she is not being herself though. how well do you know your artist? before she was brunette playing piano on a sort of alternative band. i've seen the videos. she didn't even come up with that name herself, someone gave it to her. she is also a hypocrite. one minute she talks about the last thing young women need is another skinny girl posing naked on the covers of magazines, and yet she poses topless, dances half-naked in her videos. at least britney, who i don't like as much either, admits to what she does and is.
