Worry Not, Jack Bauer Fans!! NBC May Come To The Rescue!!

| Filed under: TV NewsFilm FlickersKiefer Sutherland

This DEFINITELY comes as a surprise!!

Earlier this week we reported that FOX is prepping to cancel 24 after eight season due to the show's high budget and weak ratings.

Now we're hearing rumblings that 20th Century Fox is pushing for NBC to pick up the series, starring Kiefer Sutherland, and the network is seriously considering taking it on!!

An insider confirms that “There’s definitely some interest."

Of course, this would delay the movie adaptation, which execs have assured fans will NOT happen until the series is over.

We don't know how we feel about this news. Eight years is a pretty solid run for a TV show!

What do U think?? Would you prefer 24 on TV or as a film??

    tv without a doubt!

NBC picking up 24? WTF! I hope that is BS. This show has been on for 8 years, let it die already! People obviously are tired of watching Jack Bauer and his team, or the ratings would have beefed up ages ago!

    I hated this show.
All Kiefer Sutherland did was whisper something, I couldn't understand and nothing ever happened. It was frustrating, just like watching X Files.
Janeane Garafola (sp) put the nail in the coffin.
James Oliphant in Hitman had much better pacing…people dying all the God damn time.

    I LOVE 24!!!!!

tough call but tv takes my vote!

If the show DID get cancelled, then Kiefer would be making a helluva lot more money doing movie roles. He's doing THEM a favor by re-signing his contract, not the other way around.

Worry not fat boy??? NBC is the worst network on television and will definitely be bad for 24, i'd rather it just get cancelled than be on that lame channel

I've been a huge 24 fan from the beginning, However, not a fan of this season. I am guessing correctly at everything that is about to happen. How many times and ways can someone be killed or blown up.

NBC needs dramas to fill in the 10pm slot they fucked up when the put jay leno in the spot. It might work. But it also might be time to let 24 go to a full length movie and be finished. Tough call.

Hell yeah it should come back! This is one of the best shows on tv, even after eight years.

It's not surprising that the popularity fell off after the government stopped telling people to be scared.

Keifer said after season one when word of season two was announced that he couldn't see the show going on and on. "How many bad days can one person have?" I believe was his rhetorical question. Well, they've managed to give him 8 which is many more than he should have had. I forget the season, but the one where he walked off into the sunset, having to live under a new identity, should have been it. THEN a movie based on the show would have been awesome. Now? Not so much.

The point of 24 is that you watch every hour of the day…so I'd prefer keeping it a tv show…a 2 hour movie of it just doesn't make much sense. But I love the show.

If it was a 24 hour movie I'd go for it.
