Dustin Hoffman Trying Something New

The Graduate star is going to give directing a try!

Dustin Hoffman is in negotiations to direct Quartet, a movie about a retirement home for opera singers in England starring Dame Maggie Smith and Albert Finney. The movie is based on a 1999 comedic play of the same name.

Sounds like a bit of a snoozefest to us.

But he is 72 — makes sense he's directing an old people movie!

Nothing with Maggie Smith in it could ever be a snoozefest.

The idea of a retirement home for opera singers would make great comedy material for a movie. Imagine scenes where the more forgetful elderly residents believe they truly are the characters they played on stage, and so they live out each day as an encore performance. I think it has the potential to be a really funny movie, and if it is done well, it will be done in a way that does not insult the elderly population who see it at the theaters. I'm looking forward to seeing what Hoffman does with this film!

Yeah well, I know it doesn't have the same impact as working with Zac Efron or any one of your pre-teen pedophile crushes. Hoffman works with TALENT, not some has-been before he's 30 fuck fantasy of yours, shithead. Lame.

  4. 4

LOL yeah !! he dont look it though!!

  5. 5

A few weeks ago you where putting him down for turning to TV, now you are putting him down for directing a film with old people. What do you have against him.

  6. 6

Love Dustin, he's a legend and he comes across as a very humourous, down to earth guy.

  7. 7

Any Dustin Hoffman movie will be good. We need more actors like him, unfortunately that is highly doubtful.

Good humor, not crude humor…which if it is crude, how is it humor?
    look it up

the man is an absolute legend

I agree with everyone loving Dustin! I think he would be a GREAT DIRECTOR, and should so give it a shot! After all he can't act forever, but wow what a fabulous actor he is!! Love you Hoffman!! ;)

And what is YOUR talent Perez?
    *
Oh that's right, you have none.

I think this is great. Mr. Hoffman probably will do a good job, but with Maggie Smith and Albert Finney, it is sure too be successful. At least for me. I adore all three of these actors.

  12. 12

You rude and ageist bastard. I, for one, look forward to it!

  13. 13

Perez would love the movie if the soundtrack included that ugly transvestite Lady Gag Gag.

  14. 14

He's not going to direct a movie starring Albert Finney. Finney is dead. I think the sentence needs reconstruction like maybe the 1999 comedic play starred Dame Maggie and Finney?

  15. 15

    "an old people movie"
I'm 20 and if my choice is either fucking High School Musical or this, I pick this

There's a simple formula I've learned from reading your blog:
Everything you dislike… I usually like.
Everything you love… I usually dislike.
Your putdown of this future film means I'll really like it. And so will the general public.

Re: sparkys nemesis – Albert Finney was furious at this announcement of his premature death Sparky. So furious in fact, it nearly killed him. www.chuck-cash.co.uk

Show some class, Perez. Anything with Dame Maggie Smith and Albert Finney is worth watching and worthy of your attention. SHE is an actress without peer. Should Miley Cyrus be her granddaughter?

  20. 20

Your ageism is really pathetic. Maggie Smith is the bomb but then again you dont look outside LA, so maybe you don't know there is a WORLD out there~~

  21. 21

Wonderful news that the Great Albert Finney will once again be back in front of the cameras. The Bourne Ultimatum was his last film, and I have missed him so very much.

  22. 22

Boy!!! You can be SO FUCKIN" STUPID sometimes!!!! Oh I'm sorry, I mean ALL THE TIME!!! Stop talking outta your ASS!!!

  23. 23

FFS. Just because it's not made to appeal to the stupid yank teen demographic. Seriously Mario- it's sinister as fuck when you come on to them, and it's just sad when you admit to having no more brains than them. Seriously- stop chasing around 17 year old boys and begging to put your little cotton reel up them (it's sick as hell, you're a sex offender that doesn't feel any fucking shame) and FUCKING EDUCATE YOURSELF.
