Corey Haim's family started an online fund on Friday to help pay for Haim's funeral and the cost of transporting his body back to Toronto, but a company has already offered to pony up the $$!

Memorabilia company Startifacts has offered to cover the entire cost of the funeral, headstone and transport, all from the profits earned by Corey Haim memorabilia the company is currently auctioning off!
It's the right thing to do!
Reps from Startifacts have said they will deliver a $20,000 check made out to Haim's mother on the day of the funeral instead of making the family wait until the auctions are completed.

That is awful his mother didn't have the money to help pay for his funeral. Like Feldman said-where were his friends when he needed them, where are they now? I can understand Feldman probably doesn't have the money. But others like Ashton Kutcher than call him a friend and such outta be ashamed of themselves. I think starting an online fund to pay for someone's funeral is utterly awful and distasteful. Why can't someone in his family pay for the funeral and then recompense themselves with the sale of his memorabilia? Maybe there is no one close enough to do that and perhaps that's why he got himself into this state, because NO ONE CARED ABOUT HIM.

What ever happened to anonymous donations. This memorabilia company knows that they will make money off of his death. This is the least they could do. It will be a tax right off for them. They didn't have to promote themselves. But having said this, it is something that they did not have to do.
Addiction whether active or in remission is deadly. It does horrible things to your health and shortens lifespan.

Their parents don't usually have the knowledge or skill base to assist in advocating for their children financially. There are many wolves in sheeps clothing in the entertainment industry who exploit the financial proceeds of these children at the same time they are promoting them. It is their business. It is also a parents responsibility to protect their children and unfortunately very few parents in this industry have the skills to do this. The parents don't know what they don't know.
The crash and burn mentality that many young people have coupled with the invinsability that comes with all youth is what kills.
The teen to young adult years are the most difficult. Life only gets easier after that.
Why did she die with no money? With all of her big parts in big movies, you'd think there'd be enough left for a funeral! I mean, look at the pic of her - she could obviously afford a haircut now and then…

Just how long can someone blame the entertainment industry? I'm sorry that people get addicted and I certainly feel sorry for his family. I'm 42 and decided that it was time to go back to school to better myself. He was a person just like everyone else and could have made better choices. But everyone feels bad for the poor little child star because they get corrupted. Drew Barrymore fell into the same hole but she crawled out……….there are tons of people addicted to drugs….where are the big companies when they die? Just because he was in a couple of movies, we feel like we knew him - We didn't. The World keeps turning…..

They pull themselves out and others who have the same capacity to do so end up dead before this happens. You are lucky the drugs didn't kill you and that you got through to the light at the other end of the tunnel. You could have had your life come to an abrupt close just as easy as the next guy. Be thankful that you have your life. I do understand that abusing drugs or alcohol does not make you a victim. The victims are the family and friends who lose their loved ones as a result. To discredit someone's loved one who dies of a drug abuse problem is victimizing the victims. I don't believe that is your intent.

It's a nice gesture but 20 grand really isn't alot for a funeral. Especially for even a d list celebrity. You figure you have to feed everyone too. Maybe it's a cultural thing but food and funerals/quakes go hand in hand. You have to celebrate alife with some sort of reception. Casket,flowers,limo's and the hearts….that 20 grand isn't going to go very far. It's sad they don't have the money themselves.
