Brooke's Neighbors Are Getting Annoyed

Bad news for Brooke Shields as her neighbors aren't too happy with all the noise she's been causing.

Shields has been having some renovations done on the $5.6 million townhouse she bought back in 2008.

But while the construction is going on, it's the neighbors who are suffering. According to a nearby tenant:

"They start construction at 6 a.m. every morning, and people are outraged. This has been going on for months, and people in surrounding buildings are threatening their property managers that they'll move out if it doesn't stop."

Brooke reportedly moved into the neighborhood after her former Lipstick Jungle co-star Lindsay Price suggested it to her.

Say another neighbor:

"A lot of people around here were happy that those two were in the neighborhood. It's a pretty close-knit environment around here, and it's always nice to see a famous face.

Now people definitely have strong feelings about Brooke disrupting the normally peaceful atmosphere."

As for Brooke, she's doing it all by the books, has a legal permit, and adds that the construction is "up to code every step of the way."

With her rep adding that "They truly apologize about the noise or any inconvenience and hope more than anybody to have it finished as soon as possible."

How about starting the construction later in the morning?

Can you believe that this talentless bonehead has 5 plus million to spend on anything?

  2. 2

"How about starting the construction later in the morning?" - that's around the time construction guys start dipshit - the construction currently being done in front of my house starts at 5am so I'd say those neighbors could have it worse……….

  3. 3

I'm glad she is giving jobs to some people but starting at 6 am please no renovation can be that important !

  4. 4

Oh suck it up people….Construction works start early. Deal with it. I seriously doubt that anyone belives you'll move out of your freaking house because of construction. Of course you could all GET A JOB or do some VOLUNTEER work that would get you out of your freaking homes (like the rest of America), instead of feeling the need to sip your wine coolers and bitch about your poor noisey life. Eff you all.

Re: DSummerfan – Hate to tell you this, but once the contract is signed, you've got no say at what time your construction crew starts if you didn't spell it out in the contract. She can ask, but they don't have to listen.

Re: Alliestp – we have noise laws where i live. certain activities can't start before a certain time. the weekend has different hours. and it's county-wide (not just within a certain HOA, etc).

Re: ListenToMeInstead – We do too - my point is there is nothing Brooke can do about it. Their noise law must say 6:00 is ok.

Her neighbors are being ridiculous! If it was anyone else they wouldn't care but since its a celeb they want to get there 2 seconds of fame. I feel bad fro Brooke.
    xo

  12. 12

The neighbors should hire Ashton Kutcher as their PR person.

  13. 13

Are they renoing her house or her face? WTF!!??

  14. 14

I'm assuming this is NYC…I thought that construction couldn't start until 7am…I remember this being the case living there, but seriously the noise would start at 7 and one second…These stars are funny though, they do all this construction and they always sell them right away, what's the point?

  15. 15

Who spends 5.6 Million on a townhouse???? I'm sure it's very nice…but for that kind of dough, you could have a house in Malibu!

  16. 16

Re: libra1018 – OOps, yep bet is is NYC.

  17. 17

Oh Boo Hoo. What a bunch of self entitled idiots. Most neighbourhoods have houses under renovation. I've got 3 of my neighbours at it right now, including the early starts. It's life. It isn't forever and her reno will probably drive up their home values. Nice to know they run for the phone to call the newspapers every time one of their valued celebrity neighbours does something they don't like.

    RUDE and INCONSIDERATE!!!!

  19. chiro says – reply to this

Her publicist is wrong, everything isn't be the books is the workers are staring at 6am. Legally, you are not able to start construction work until after 7am.

  20. 20

If it's New York City (where else would a townhouse cost that much) starting at 6am is WAY NO COOL, and it's also illegal. I've lived in the city my whole life and 6am construction does not happen in NYC…just not the norm…a lot of people work late shifts (doctors in er, nurses, broadway actors, nightclub employees, etc. etc) and THIS IS NOT COOL.

  21. 21

There are laws that state the earliest time to start construction by towns. 6AM is an exaggeration by the writer. The earliest start time is 7AM and many are closer to 8.

  22. 22

I hope her piece of shit townhouse burns down.

  23. 23

6 AM! Good Lawd! How dare they! Most people are up and getting ready for work at that time! They need their peace and quiet while putting their face on! Idiots.

  24. 24

I heard the place is a dump.

  25. 25

bunch of whining maggots….and idiots……just start a little later in the morning you stupid fucks

  26. 26

None of you are homeowners or you'd know that each and every city has permitted work hours. My city it's 7am to 7pm M-F, 9am-5pm Sat, 12pm - 4pm - Sundays. It takes one 2 minute phone call to the non-emergency phone line of your local police department to find this out.

If they are violating the permit hours, the police will come out and tell them when you complain.

And, Brooke, if she cares, can ask her workers to come at different hours or be fired. It's not complicated and that's why this story is mostly bunk. Her neighbors are a bunch of pantywaists if they can't have a conversation with her or the contractor.
