Kathy Griffin Fights To Repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Kathy Griffin is holding a rally this week on Capitol Hill to fight the US military's outdated Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. And you should come!
The funnylady released the following statement:
"Calling all DC gays and ALL good citizens who support EQUALITY!!! After traveling to Iraq and Afghanistan to perform for the troops and visiting with injured vets and their families at Walter Reed, I've gotten to meet and know many gay members of our brave military. Their stories are heartbreaking, touching, and need to be heard. They cannot stand up for themselves, so it's time we stand up for them and be their voice. They put their lives on the line for us every day, all the while risking getting fired, discharged, losing all their benefits and maybe even worse, just for being "found out".
It's time to take on 'don't ask, don't tell'!!! Please join me this Thursday, March 18 at 12 noon at Freedom Plaza in DC. Y ‘know how every season we do one kind of serious episode of 'My Life on the D List'? Well, I really need your help with this one. With the help of the HRC, I'm organizing a rally to help repeal the antiquated policy of 'don't ask, don't tell' All you have to do is show up! Spread the word. I'm meeting with several legislators all week in DC, but it's the average American citizen and their constituents are who they REALLY listen to."

Every gay man or woman in the military (and straights, too) ought to come out at one time, on a particular day and force a court martial. It would reduce the fighting force at a time when their participation is crucial were they to brig them all, and it would then force the military to change the policy from within. They could not handle the legal overload if they all came out at once.
If their straight fighting brothers and sisters also showed solidarity then this would be all said and done. The problem is the homophobia within the military. The military is afraid that they would lose in the numbers department if they repealed it.
The military is not about equal rights. The military is authoritarian. Look at the difference in officer and enlisted ranks. The military is not some huggy feelie group of people, their job is KILLING the ENEMY. They KILL people because their government tells them to.

allthough I like kathy I have always found she has latched on to the gay "cause" for the attention. I watch her show, and enjoy it, but the young men she "comforted" on her iraq show I don't think would be ok with gay commrades, as a gay man I know that's not right, but at the same time I don't want to be in the foxhole with someone who …..well I can't connect with and viseversa. no question gays are great soldiers, but I think the bigger battle is on the civilian side.
This vapid old kunt is in favor of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" when it comes to the question of whether she has any equine ancestry.

As a military man and huge supporter of equal rights for gays as much as I would like to see DADT repealed the reality is that the majority of the armed forces arent ready for it. The problem is that the majority (about 70%) of the men/women in the military are not comfortable with homosexuality in the people they work with. They'd really rather just not know about it. Unfortunately this is a business where being comfortable with the people you work with is the difference between life and death. The military will probably evolve long after the rest of society, its just the nature of many of the people called into this profession but I do look forward to the day that men and women can serve openly homosexual or not.

You know, I've always thought Kathy to be a star-searcher. But when it comes to gay rights, she not only knows what she's talking about, but is willing to take time and cash out to support us. I can only imagine that half of these comments are by straight men, or, sorry, rather, closeted homos and women who have nothing better to do. Ms. Griffin is a great hero for our cause, and I only hope she continues to help. If you're offended or causing issues, it's because you're either religious or stupid.
Oh. So she's only doing it for the show.
Well, if you live in DC I suppose this would make more sense. I wish the people there would get with the program and UNDERSTAND that THIS ISSUE WILL NEVER GO AWAY and rightly so. Long live the gays and I hope Kathy gets some attention there but I doubt it. The blinders those pencil pushers wear never come off on the hill!

Dont you get it. Even though i voted for obama, he is using this issue to avoid the real issue. Legalizing gay marriage. He is saying ok ill throw the gay community a bone, that only effects a small portion of the gay community instead of doing what is right for the whole community. It makes me sick. Legalize gay marriage and stop using dont ask dont tell as a means to avoid the issue. sorry i wasnt pc with my statement.
