Might as well dream big!

Summit Entertainment is starting to feel out some possible big name directors to helm the the final installment of the Twilight films. Fans have been eagerly awaiting ANY news about Breaking Dawn and now we hear that the studio heads are making their move to get the ball rolling since the screenwriter should be handing in her final draft next week.

Sources explain that Summit will be taking the last flick of the franchise to the next level by seeking out Oscar-nominated directors. Names included on the list are Bill Condon, Gus Van Sant, and Sofia Coppola.

It is argueably one of the most profitable movie franchises of the last five years, but does that mean a legit director will actually get on board with this? And where's Ron Howard's name? We thought the whole point of hiring his daughter was so you could snatch him up later?

What's your game, Summit?

    2. 2

      hahaha

    3. 3

No respectable director would attach his or her name to this franchise. This isn't art, it's brain candy and should be filmed as such.

    4. 4

LMAO That shitty franchise will win an Oscar 2 days after I get elected the Queen of England. First, tear up the script and the craptastic book it came from then get a real writer to pen something intersting. Then get decent actors. Damn, Sandra Bullcock has an Oscar, so they don't have to be that good. Then wish on a star, get a rabbits foot and pray!

Vampires aren't supposed to sparkle like they just got back from the gay bar, they're supposed to burst into flames and die in sunlight.
Twilight is one of the most poorly written stories of all time, right next to You Got Served and Step Up 2

    7. 7

They need better directors and better actors. Is it just me or does Edward and Belle feel like they have zero chemistry?

    8. 8

The books are complete crap. No director, actor or screenwriter could make these movies win an Oscar.

    9. 9

      *forgot to finish.

They're just jealous that Harry Potter get's nominated for Oscars every year the movie comes out. HP get's nominated in the "Achievements in Cinematography" catagory. It never wins, but still, it's nominated!

      HE IS A
      P U S S Y
      .
      YOU'RE RIGHT BIG BLACK D I C K

    11. 11

This is so upsetting to a Happy Potter fan. The last two movies sucked balls because the director sucks balls and yet because who knows what reason he'll be directing the last two movies. It's unfair and upsetting.

    12. 12

I would love it if Ron Howard directed it. He's good. Chris Columbus is my first choice though!

    13. 13

Re: AlliedForces – Vampires aren't real, they're mythological creatures that writers can make up rules about, such as sparkling or bursting into flames. Dracula could go out in sunlight! You fail.

    14. 14

Re: jones19 – WHAT!? Vampires are FICTIONAL?! You've just shattered my universe.
Sparkling vampires are dumb. End of story. Win!

      15

      They need Catherine Hardwicke back………………

    16. 16

They can get Steven Spielberg to direct this and it STILL won't win an oscar. It's not just the director that makes the film good…no matter how amazing this director they get is, he isn't a magician that'll be able to make these shiteous actors somewhat decent.
some of the worst acting I've ever seen has been in Twilight. Maybe if they had done better casting jobs they'd be poised for some kind of award that isn't based on the votes of biased tweens.

    17. 17

Sofia Coppola makes boring movies. I can not believe Lost in Translation won an oscar

    18. 18

They need CRONENBERG for Breaking Dawn. He's the only one who can pull off the childbirth scene. LOL.

    19. 19

i just spat out my drink. no matter how talented the director is no one can turn that mess into oscar material

    20. 20

This is a joke right?? I don't care if you put Martin Scorsese at the helm, these movies would still be shit. Shit writing, even worse acting = shit. Or, as they say "shit in, shit out". Unless they intend to fire the entire cast, rehire all actual 'actors' and then completely rewrite the story, it has 0 chance of even being mentioned in the Oscars. Razzies, absolutely, Oscars, NEVER.

    21. 21

well, they better replace ALL the actors.

The acting is SO bad!! The worst is the dude that plays Jasper!

Question: Is a movie adapted from mediocre books Oscar worthy?

      Answer: No!

    22. 22

HAHAHA Kristen Stewart couldn't act her way out of a paper bag! She has 2 expressions, nervous & high. Robert Pattinson is a good looking guy, but Tom Hanks he ain't.

    23. 23

perez you are a complete idiot to think Ron Howard would even come close to this. His daughter is in it but even she knows her dad would never never direct a movie like this ( vampire movie) Ron Howard is one of the best directors ever and your a dumbass perez god you know nothing about movies you probably think john waters is the best filmmaker

    24. 24

sofia coppola could direct this, but either way i doubt they will win an oscar but new moon should've gotten nominated this year for best score. the music was incredible!!

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!! Seriously in order for this so called franchise to even be considered for an Oscar it has to have good acting - haven't seen that yet. Also the writer has to be able to actually transcribe the book to a script, however the one they are using for all these movies - SUCKS!!! You can have an Oscar winning director but if the writer sucks, then you get a crappy movie. From what I have seen of these movies - NOT EVEN WORTH THE EFFORT TO WATCH!!! Even the trailers are BORING!!! So keep dreaming Summit Entertainment, cause you won't get it with these movies. May want to look elsewhere for that.

    26. 26

HAHA, YEA WHEN PIGS FLY!! LMAO!!

    27. 27

Please not Gus Van Sant. It's not his style…and no Catherine Hardwicke either. Twilight was poorly directed. =\ not that I have high expectations, the story is what it is, but at least make the films decent.

    28. 28

The acting in New Moon and the Eclipse trailer is pretty bad. For some reason these two male directors have chosen to make the characters act more wooden and just whisper their lines with droning pseudo-intensity. But, these actors are not bad in other movies (see "Into the Wild" "13" and some of the Pattinson guy's early british stuff…indie flicks before "Twilight"). The right director can certainly bring these people to life (no pun intended). And, Breaking Dawn is the most mature of the books. But, for starters, they should make it rated "R" to have an authentic sex and c-section birth scenes…something Summit probably does not have the balls to do.

    29. 29

right…an oscar? seriously? breaking dawn was a shitty book that disappointed a majority of the fans, the movie will probably get the same reviews, regardless of who is directing

    30. 30

Sofia Coppola wouldn't touch this with a pole made from all the members of Phoenix. That is, unless she was being ironic and made it as an in-joke to people who think this series is dull and stupid.

    31. 31

If this series gets an oscar Hollywood is official full of retards.

    32. 32

      David Cronenburg!
He's make the rediculous sex scene surreal and the C-section just fucked up!

    33. 33

Re: AlliedForces – Preach! 100% agree with you.

    34. 34

Re: lol777 – YESSSSSSSSS! the only hope this movie has to not turn out as corny as the book, is if they make it Rated R. F-word all the little 12 year olds that are obsessed with Taylor. They can see the movie five years from now. I love the first three books, but the last one is way too PG for its own good, if stephenie meyer is gonna imply that the characters are having sex, might as well just show everything in the movie. its the last chance they have to save it. They don't have to sugar coat everything for the sake of the younger fans.

    35. 35

These movies are just like Precious. Mariah Carey couldn't act to save her life, but she had a fantastic script. It's not the director that has to change, it's the script. Just getting a big name director is going to get more attention that they don't need.

    36. 36

While I love Twilight, there is no way that Breaking Dawn could ever be in the running for an oscar no matter who they get.
