The NAAFA Wants Gabourey Sidibe To Stay Fat!

What's the NAAFA you ask? Why the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, of course.

Yes it's real and to be fair, our initial reaction was also, "WTF???"

The NAAFA organization is taking it to the streets to speak out in favor of Gabourey Sidibe's hefty size. Sources have suggested that a weight loss company has approached the Oscar nominated actress in an effort to get her back to the "healthy" weight.

However, the NAAFA is insisting that there is nothing wrong with her size and that the Precious star is perfectly healthy. A spokeswoman for NAAFA released a statement this morning, saying:

"You cannot tell by looking at a person if they are healthy. Fat does not equal disease and thin does not equal healthy…Achievements come in all sizes."

Quite true and Gabby certainly has accomplished a lot. We don't think she needs any help defending herself, though. From what we have seen, girl is FIERCE and a fighter all on her own!

As a person who used to weigh 500 pounds, I can tell you that it is hard to lose weight, but it absolutely can be done. You have to be in the right state of mind and be determined. If not, it won't happen. No, it is NOT healthy to be morbidly obese like she is. I used to have asthma, arthritis, reflux disease, sleep apnea and all kinds of horrible problems. I no longer have those problems because I have gotten myself down to a decent weight. I know how she feels. I just hope she can lose weight for her health.

the biggest "hippo"crites are the ladies on the view!
all of whom are on or have recently been on some kind of diet and then defending gaby's weight!

i can see defending her right to work at any weight but not to mention that this person is morbidly obese, is a shame.

I think she is awesome the way she is but i'm sure she could be healthier and that means losing a considerable amount of weight. Let's face it, she is morbidly obese. She could lose 100 lbs and she would still be fat. What really matters is that she is happy but being that large can not be good for your body. Being that overweight is an indication of very poor health. You don't have to be a doctor to know this.

Re: pusspuss – That is the cutest picture i have ever seen. Do you get to live with that adorable kitty?

  5. 105

i think she's fierce, happy and all. i saw an interview with her and she rocks. but all that weight and shape, it's absolutely impossible for her to use all range of motions nature has given her… a thing to think about.

jesus look at all of the stretch marks on her shoulder :puke:

  8. 108

Re: emaa.a – the reason why people are talking about her is beacause she is in the public eye. there are idiots liek u who are saying she is beautiful thus making it seem ok to be mobidly obese. it is NOT ok to be that fat. america already has a fat problem as it is. dont make it worse by making this extremely obese girl a role model or saying that this is ok or beautiful.

  9. 109

Seriously? We needed to see this? She is disgusting! Look at those stretch marks? And her arms are thicker than my thighs!! She is not healthy, and she is the grossest thing I have seen ever! yuck! She is unhealthy and ugly and just yuck!

I'll go with what everybody says. It's not about the look. I don't mind fat. I liked Perez when he was fat. But it's bad for the heart. She is young and can't have a clue of what's coming up. But some people are just genetically meant to be fat. They grow fat way faster than everybody else. So it's not like I would require from every body to be thin either.

  13. 113

The NAFAA sounds like a bunch of fat slobs banded together, and instead of doing something positive about their belly rolls, decided that they should speak out and defend their right to be fat. Truly pathetic and just another symptom of our fucked up entitled society. LOSE SOME WEIGHT BITCHES, BIG ISN'T BEAUTIFUL!!!!

You don't have to be a stick…but you should at least be healthy…Saying you love your body at an obese weight means you're just not willing/too lazy to eat well and exercise…Get help…

  15. 115

I'm so glad our nation is now promoting obesity…anyone who knows anything about the human body will tell you it is unhealthy to be obese. If she is comfortable in her skin, so be it and more power to her, but PLEASE do not tell me being that heavy is healthy.

  16. 116

Fuck you NAAFA! Of course she is unhealthy! Jesus Christ, look at her, she'll be dead in 5 years if she doesn't drop weight. Fuck, it's not about "accepting, blah, blah" it's about HEALTH! That's like saying a heroin addict can be healthy, you just don't know! Eff off, seriously.

  17. 117

Everyone is assuming that she intends to stay this wiehgt. How do you know that she's not trying to lose weight as we speak? Give her a chance, she can't lose it all in a week, for Crissake!

  18. 118

It's not like you have to be Einstein to understand that this girl is NOT healthy. Seriosly. Too stupid.

  19. 119

She's not gonna be a day over 40 with this continuing. Get real!

  20. 120

I am sorry but who said that she does not need to lose weight? She is obese and it is a problem, and if she does not have any health problems right now she will in 10 years.

  21. 121

I like that actress a lot! But she is clearly overweight and it is NOT a healthy body

  22. 122

  23. 123

You can see the stretch marks on her shoulders, there is no sense in being fat AND stupid, loose the weight fat ass!

  24. 124

She isn't 'just' fat, she's obese which is and always will be an UNhealthy state to be in.

  25. 125

why can hollywood only deal in extremes? there are no normal-sized girls, just gabby whos obese and these extremely underweight girls

  26. 126

Re: ikissgirls – Congratulations on losing the weight. It's a huge achievement to change your lifestyle and I'm glad you've done it!

  27. 127

    being that overweight is unhealthy!
everyone critisizes ppl who have drug and alcohol problems

fat ppl are just the same and it causes more tax dollars than any crack addiction too

    get real or die young

  28. 128

Fat does equal unealthy, simple as that.
Skinny can also equal unhealthy too.
This lady is dead wrong; promoting obesity is incredibly, incredibly irresponsible. Obesity causes so many problems, any doctor will tell you so. It's not a matter of beauty, it's a matter of being healthy and living a long time!
That being said, she is gorgeous, but I want her to be gorgeous and to stay around for a long time!
PS: When I read NAAFA at first, for a split second I thought it stood for National Association for the Advancement of Fat Asses. haha

  29. 129

I hope that Gabourey does not accept the offer from any diet company or NAAFA because the former would turn her into a professional yo-yo dieter and any other achievement would be overshadowed (Kirstie Ally, Carnie Wilson) and the dangerously misguided policies of NAAFA would just end up killing her. She does need to lose weight - she's morbidly obese and terribly so - but she should do it quietly and privately and choose professional projects and causes where her weight isn't the focus.
