3-D TVs SELL OUT in the U.S.!!

| Filed under: TV NewsJohnny DeppTech Talk

We're sure television manufactures are loving James Cameron right about now.

Panasonic Corp. has announced their entire stock of 3-D televisions have sold out within their first week of being released in the United States!!

The televisions, which sold at Best Buy with a 3-D blu-ray player and special glasses, were priced at a staggering $2,899.99!!!

According to analyst, Kazuharu Miura:

“There are always people who want to buy high-end products. That’s probably what’s driving sales.”

We guess so! However, don't expect everyone to have one of these suckers overnight.

Analyst Ichiro Michikoshi adds:

“It will probably take a long time for 3-D TVs to expand broadly, maybe about three years. There isn’t enough content and consumers dislike wearing the glasses. Those issues will take time to be solved.”

Damn right!! We're not investing in that stuff until everything's in 3-D, not just CGI alien smurfs and Johnny Depp!!

What do U think?? Will U purchase a 3-D TV??

    2-D is o k to me. so no 3D tv 4 me.

  2. 2

I personally don't see the point. If I want 3D I'll do something besides watching tv.

  3. 3

    stupid as hell.

  4. 4

yeah, and how big was the shipment? doesn't say anywhere and later in the article it says panisonic hopes to sell 1 million GLOBALLY this year. so NOT A LOT in that shipment and there are always a small group of people that have to have the top of the line, the newest idea, before anyone else. no matter the cost. what is the big deal? so few things will be in 3d, probably the technology is not the best and once it is and is mass produced, the price will go down, just like everything else thru the decades :cars, radios, applianances, calculators, led watches, computers, flat screen tvs

$3000 TVs sold out? Yeah, there's totally a recession in this country.

  6. 6

i cannot wait to see golden girls in 3-D.

i have had a 3-D ready Plasma for Over a Year BRING ON THE 3-D!!!

  8. 8

Wow seriously? Who the fuck is buying them, seriously?

Dumb motherfuckers with way too much time and money to waste, that's who.

  9. 9

It isn't like the 3D you see at the IMAX with the glasses. It just looks like you can reach into the TV. NOT THE SAME EFFECT. Don't buy em until they perfect the technology. The first generation of new technology like this..should be avoided.

Constant 3-D is not good for your eyesight!!! Studies have been done (and obviously ignored) that show too much exposure to artificial 3-D can permanently affect your depth perception. It works by fooling your eyes, and we all know it's not nice to fool nature. Please look into this before you purchase!

  11. 11

    WOW…all 7 if them lol

  12. 12

that's the cost of an average lcd big screen tv in oz…
*I'm moving into a new house soon & have made the decision to not have a tv…I'm a little bit frightened*

  13. 13

    disney land has better 3d

  14. 14

    Re: jerseygirl415 – I was thinking the same thing….

  15. 15

No, but I might later on.

  16. 16

hell yeah i buy 2 3d. and if they are from panasonic is the best…

  17. 17

Seriously? Not only is there a recession, but incidents like Haiti have recently happened prompting a need for donations. As always, tragedy comes into the spotlight for a little while and then disappears once something more interesting happens and the ones affected by the tragedy are left coping.
If you want to feel like you're in the middle of major action, leave your house and get involved.

I'd like to see a home application of holographic imagery. It's already shown at most theme parks. I can fire up a doobie and see 3-D now without glasses.

  19. 19

I hate movies in 3d the glasses are annoying and the color of the movie changes with the glass. YUCK.

  20. 20

Yeah really, when they have enough content, THEN I WILL BUY A 3-D TV! As for now, hell no, waste of money!!!

  22. 22

I've had one since the summer. I only paid half that price, but it didn't come with a DVD player…

  23. 23

If you like stereoscopic 3D — but HATE the Glasses - check out this new technology called "auto-stereoscopic 3D" a company from France created it… (www.alioscopy.com) There is an office in San Diego, and they are showing these LCD displays with a special lenticular lens on them that creates a stereoscopic image where the 3D pops out of the scene (and you don't have to have 3D glasses)… pretty good (early) technology.. but is a good solution to having to wear glasses…

Re: No-Glasses 3D – Wow, Okay cool!! And you made it your screen name!! *Giggles*

  25. 25

no, I don't really want to watch everything in 3D. Only movies/shows with flying scenes.

  26. 26

maybe when they figure out how to make 3d coloring look right & perfect it.. then I'll buy one

  27. 27

In other words - men aren't buying these untill theres enough 3d porn out ..
I wont be getting one, 3d films are better on huge screens, so id prefer the cinema that a lil wide screen tele.

  28. 28

WE just bought our first flat screen HD tv last year so yeah I figure it will be about 10 years before we even consider going 3D, and only if all the bugs are worked out.

  29. 29

    I'm old school-I don't even like HDTV's..so NO 3d TV for Me :-p

  30. 30

Not interested, cannot anticipate ever being interested. I don't even go see 3D crap at the movie theater, it leaves me nauseous and with a headache. Why would I pay to have that shite in my home?

  31. 31

    Re: glassdoors
same here.. of course we don't even have a flat panel TV.

  32. lilks says – reply to this

who the hell is buying these - i thought our economy was in the shitter

  33. 33

You call 3000 dollars staggering? You pay 5000 euro for a 55 inch Sony Bravia Full HD tv over here, no 3D or bluray player included. Don't think 3000 dollars is bad at all.

  34. 34

Nope. I just bought my first high-def TV a few months ago.

  35. 35

Only $3,000 for a badass 3-D TV?? That's really not bad. I paid like $1,300 for my flat screen & it only broadcasts in measly 2-D. The next step will be the cable companies charging exorbitant amounts of money to but the "3-D package" of channels.

  36. 36

$2899.99!!! Wow! That's almost as staggering as the price of Lady GaGa's US Summer tour. $179.50! Really, Lady GaGa? I love you, but unfortunately, i now can not afford you.
