Antonio Banderas Appointed As UN Goodwill Ambassador

The United Nations Development Program has appointed Antonio Banderas as a Goodwill Ambassador in the fight against poverty.

The Spanish actor will be working to bring more focus to the Millennium Development Goals, which is attempting to reduce the amount of worldwide poverty in HALF by 2015.

Banderas said in a statement:

"Poverty robs us of our potential as a people, preventing us from being all that we can be. This is why it is so important to mobilize all of our efforts to defeat it."

We think it's wonderful that he's using his success to try and help those less fortunate.

      Please. Actor Audrey Hepburn authenticated participation from the film community, Angelina revived it, now every pathetic has been actor suddenly cares about the planet and it's inhabitants? Methinks they don't give a damn about the hardships of the destitute. How many "actors" have done this lately? The world needs all the help it can get from all of us, as good citizens, but when Hollywood non workers use their position and power to help ( I say HELL YEAH) but your efforts are transparent. At least more interest is focused on what's really important. For that, I thank you.
