Reese Is A Pioneer Woman!

This sounds an awful lot like Sweet Home Alabama.

Reese Witherspoon is rumored to be starring in The Pioneer Women, a film being developed by Columbia Pictures.

The Pioneer Woman will be based on the popular blog by Ree Drummond about a woman who made a detour in Oklahoma on her way to Chicago from L.A. and met the man of her dreams "and transformed from spoiled city girl to domestic ranch wife."

Yawn.

We think Reese should branch out more in her film roles — aren't these romantic comedy roles getting a bit tired?

What do U think?

Ree is amazing - and I cannot wait to see the movie. www.thepioneerwoman.com is a fantastic site — she's brilliant!

  2. 2

If it works for her, which it does, she should go with it. Good for her :)

  3. 3

I'll go see anything with Reese, but homegirl's got an Oscar! She can do anything! Why stick to stupid roles?

  4. 4

Perfect. That's what she does best. Gives me something to watch while I fold laundry on a Sunday afternoon. Got for it, Honey.

  5. 5

    What????????
Awesome, I love her blog. Sounds like a hoax though

  6. 6

Ree's blog is amazing!! Reese has a lot of energy, it may work!

  7. 7

She should star in The Jay Leno Story.

  8. 8

this is crazy! have been reading Ree's blog for a while (and even won a KitchenAid, thanks lady!) — can't believe there might be a movie made about her. she's even bigger than I thought!! kind of sad in a nostalgic way, but good for her, I guess!!

  9. 9

WTF! Didn't know that Ree Wass Selling her self short like this! She hasn't even finished the story on her blog yet!

  10. 10

I love Reece in these roles and would absolutely watch this film.

  11. 11

Do I sense a tinge of jealousy Perez? Yawn? Wishing your life was interesting enough to make a movie about? If they do make a movie about your life you should be played by Shrek.

Jay Leno is stealing her stunt doubles job too!

  13. 13

Yay!! I love Reese! Also, I am glad we are getting more attention in Oklahoma…. Sally Kern and our other legislatures are giving us a bad name! The only thing.. Reese needs to lose the Longhorn hat before playing an okie :) WOOOT!

  14. 14

That's one of my favorite blogs! What a great role for Reese.

Reese is one of the best actors working in my opinion. I doubt she would do a movie like this now though. She has been there done that several times. It would still be a success, but I don't think this is accurate.

  17. 17

While I like the premise and the unexpected turn this author took in life, it's a bit late in this nation's history for her to call herself a pioneer.

Oklahoma may still be the Indian Nation, but it has its development and amenities. It's not just lone prairie anymore.

  18. 18

    hook 'em horns, girl!

  19. 19

    I adore Reese♥, I really do! ;)

  20. 20

I wish I could get Reese to do a romantic role in my sheets. She is perfect!!!

  21. 21

Wouldn't Ree have mentioned the possibility of movie on her blog???

  22. 22

romantic comedies??? i can only think of one or two romantic comedies she's been in.. what about movies like cruel intentions, walk the line, fear, rendition?

  23. 23

So excited for this! Ree is amazing and Reese will be fabulous for the role!

  24. 24

I can't stand Reese Witherspoon, and the premise for this movie sounds boring. I think Reese is a big phoney. What you see is definitely NOT what you get.

  25. 25

Oh dear, really? Seems we just can't escape the b*llshit character that IS the Pioneer Woman. Her persona is nothing but an illusion. I know because I grew up with her and her family. But whatever, I don't see why they need to hire Reese to star in a movie, Ree is already the actress. Do we need another movie about some spoiled rich girl with a "heart"? Well, I guess we don't need anymore Sarah Palin books either, but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen the last of those. People act like Ree made some great sacrifice because she decided to stay in Oklahoma with a cowboy….which is where she lived and grew up, by the way. Wow what a sacrifice. I agree…YAWN.

  26. 26

I'm not sure Reese is good for this part. I'm not sure she can live up to Ree's quirkyness. I was thinking Kristen Bell or someone like that. Are they gonna die her hair red like Ree's?

  27. 27

"We" think your website is tired.

    Yawn.

  28. 28

    Sounds boring.

  29. 29

    I just L♥Ve Reese!!!

  30. 30

I think she likes to use men and then dump them for laughs. She claimed to be so wild about Jakey and then, wham!, he was shown the door and told to get out. That must have done her ego a lot of good. And I suspect she has an ego that needs a lot of feeding.

  31. 31

    BARF- on SO many levels.

  32. 32

WOOP WOOP, LOVING THE LONGHORN HAT!!! HOOK 'EM HORNS!

  33. 33

Ree (The Pioneer Woman) is a fantastic writer and has numerous reviews supporting that fact on her website www.thepioneerwoman.com. Before critiquing her, you should take a minute and read some of the so called "yawn" movie. While I agree Reese may be way overqualified for this role, I do think a young up and coming star could provide a great foundation for this story. Maybe Ree should play herself - I'd do anything to see this romance play out with the real carictures - have you seen Marlboro Man?

  34. 34

Aren't we tired of Reese Witherspoon in general?

  35. 35

your an idiot, this sounds nothing like Sweet Home Alabama. It sounds really good!

  36. 36

    she has the longest chin

  37. 37

The romantic comedy roles are the ones we love her in. She's needs to keep doing them while she's young enough.

  38. 38

Excuse me? You're in what movie?

  39. 39

I loved Sweet Home Alabama! I'd like to see the new one with a similar plot.

  40. 40

    Wow SmokinBerly, bitter much?

I don't think very many people look at Ree as some martyr who made some big sacrifice. She followed her heart and is proud of and happy with the life she has made for herself, and if you're bitter about how it happened, well then move on. No need to bash her cuz you're jealous and bitter.

  42. 42

I agree, SmokingBerly is just bitching because she must be so jealous!! Ree is a WONDERFUL woman, she NEVER portrays herself as a martir… nor that we (her fans) get that kind of message from what she writes. It is just a very romantic love story and I enjoyed sooo much!! I'm so happy that now, everybody will see what is about pioneer woman that her fans love so much!!
Perez, you better shut your piehole.. when you see Marlboro Man, you will DROOL about him… and that will be age-adequate … not at all creepy like that crush you have on Efron!!!

  43. 43

    Re: MyraLuna
No, you don't have to be bitter to disagree with the whole prospect of this movie. Perhaps they had a falling out years ago, who knows. The fact is, you are either a fan of hers or not.
My question is what does she and her blog bring to the culinary world that none of the other blogs and talents out there don't have? Think about it as there are thousands of them with incredible talents. What kind of legacy will be printed about her for years to come, like Julia, Alice Waters or even Lydia Bastianich? What new roads have been paved by her? These are the things that would make an interesting movie down the road, not now. Whether "Marlboro Man" is "hot" is highly debatable and for those fans who think they know her or any other famous individual here, is some advice sane people follow: WAKE UP. You know what she or anyone else online wants you to know, so keep the ass-kissing comments to a minimum. No harm in being a fan, but at least be a smart one.

  44. 44

Perez, honey, you're just jealous that Reese could once again be working on a film with hunky cowboys with Wrangler butts. Added is the fact that you weren't manly enough to be considered for Brokeback Mountain.

Black Heels to Tractor Wheels is more than a love story…it's about life. And it's what REAL women like to watch. Reese has matured into a real woman…and she would be wonderful as Ree.

While it may not end up being Oscar material, it will still be a good movie.

  45. 45

    I LOVE Ree, she's incredibly!

  46. 46

    Re: Heartless8621 – she's "incredibly" what?

  47. 47

I agree with Anca Kobori - she's got an Oscar for crying out loud. Please Reese chose some better roles. I'm sure she'll be, y'know, just lovely in this one but it would be nice to see her using the talent we all know she has to play something other than a role she's played already.
