Tim Burton Brings The Addams Family Back!
Who else but Tim Burton could give the cult classic the extra dark and twisty feel it needs!
Sources have just announced that Tim Burton is looking to helm a revamped movie of The Addams Family.
However, instead of a live-action/CGI type deal, Tim is looking to do a 3D stop-motion movie, taking his adaptation back to the original cartoon rather than the classic movie.
This could be a lot fun and we're sure Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter can't wait to voice Gomez and Morticia. They'll just have to wait though, as the project has been put on the back burner for now, so that Tim can concentrate on some of the other movie projects he has going on.
Reasonable. We wouldn't want to mess this one up!

Tim Burton ruins everything that i love, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, ruined, Alice in Wonderland, ruined. Now the Addams Family! What's next, is he gonna come steal my home movies and cast Johhny Depp as my dad and his cooky wife as my mom to ruin my childhood memories!?
Johnny could play Gomez, but i am not so sure about Helena playing Morticia as much as I love Bonham Carter. I think Penelope Cruz or Selma Hayek would be amazing choices to play the dark mistress Morticia.

Re: shanghai84 – The Addams Family started as a cartoon in the New Yorker. It was pretty funny, and became the TV show. After the show the New Yorker wouldn't use any more of the cartoons. Perez is actually right on this one.

I wish he'd go back to his own unique ideas like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. His remakes don't have the same touch as his original movies.
Johnny Depp could be Gomez in a cartoon or live action film, I can picture him in that role, but Helena Bonham Carter I don't think could do either, she doesn't have the melodic voice, and I can't see her( if there was a live action) being Mortecia, I love Helena, but this shouldn't be her role.

Tim Burton does not know creepy. His take on it is *always* a throwaway Gothic caricature. His visuals are gluttony, so it's not going to work. Sparsity and bleakness are essential elements of the Addams charm.
Planet of the Apes, Sleepy Hollow, Willy Wonka, Alice in Wonderland, Addams Family…how many more of my favorite things is Tim Burton going to dumb down for future generations? Every bit of whimsy, in stories beloved for generations, "re-imagined" as a ride at Six Flags.

They originally wanted him to direct the first Addams Family movie but he couldn't do it at the time. No one is making you poopers watch it! I loved the black and white series as a kiddy and loved the movies just as much! I'd marry Tim Burton if I could…..

No. Def not this one. This wasn't meant to be stop-motion, it's ALWAYS been live action. I like Burton's work but I'm not down with this project. Keep it on the back burner and don't do it Tim!

Mmm, I think Tim Burton needs to stop taking classics and "re-working" them. I just saw Alice and Wonderland, and I did enjoy his interpretation on the characters and the artistic side of the set and costume design. However, I really like the original (music and all - so disappointed of the lack of music in his version) and if he can't pull it off, then I would rather him just leave the classic alone.
