Jennifer Lopez Stars In Overboard Remake
We're SO over these remakes!
Jennifer Lopez is set to star in the remake of the 1987 flick Overboard. The original was directed by Garry Marshall and starred Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
If you recall, the flick centered on a spoiled woman who falls off her yacht and is taken to the hospital by a local carpenter. She wakes up with amnesia and he convinces her that she's his wife and gets her to take care of his home and four boys.
As for the remake, Will Smith is producing with Overbrook partner James Lassiter.
Not a good idea to remake this classic we think.
And why cast JLo? Why not Kate Hudson? Or at least a good actress?

I think j.L0 is PERFECT for this role. She's proven how comedic she is and very believable. What will make this film successful is to cast the right leading male to counter her and keep up with her, but not upstage her. that's the question here, what male actor to cast.

Yeah, the first Overboard was great. Jennifer has made some really good movies i.e. "Monster In-Law", "Maid in Manhattan", "The Wedding Planner". Yes, Kate would be a good choice too but would really seem to much like the original. Wonder who the guy will be? That would determine if I would pay to see it. Also, how the trailers look.

The ONLY reason Overboard worked was because of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. It is a bad movie but it's the difference when you have good actors in a bad movie and mediocre actors in a bad movie, which only makes it worst. I've seen her "comedy" work and I got laughs from the supporting cast not her, Maid in Manhattan I loved Natasha Richardson, Monster in law, it was Jane Fonda and Wanda Sykes I laughed at, Lopez and Vartan were like watching paint dry. ANd hell I didn't even see those in the movies I caught them on cable. I'll definitely be keeping my $10 bucks, damn Will, you are falling off my friend.

Actually, you have that backwards. MGM had no faith in Moonstruck and didn't put it in any theaters until Overboard ran its course - and 26 million in those days (if that's what it was) was not a bomb..

Overboard is one of my favorite movies of all time and i never get tired watching it over and over. I love J-Lo and her movies and no offense but i dont think she can match up to Goldie Hawn's role in that movie. Some movies just arent made for remakes and honestly Overboard is one of them.

Goldie Hawn isn't taken to the hospital by the carpenter, she is picked up by a garbage boat. Kurt Russell (the carpenter) only 'claims her' when he sees her on TV appeal and works out that she can pay him back money she owes him through housekeeping and tricking her she is his kid's mam. Then they fall in love. Maybe you should watch the original before you commenting on it?!
No way in hell! Her career is over. She's just a pest and just trying to reinvent herself a million times for what??? So film and record producers keep losing their investments! I think she should just stay home and take care of her ugly twins. She could play a Mom in a couple of years or so - maybe, his so called fans would take pity on her and watch it.
If Kate Hudson starred, I would be roughly 7000000 x more likely to see the film - it has always been one of my favorite movies (thanks to my parents, its my dad's fave flick) so to remake it is A) a travesty to begin with but B) if Kate Hudson did it, literally I think half of America would be sooooo behind it!!!
