Jennifer Lopez Stars In Overboard Remake

We're SO over these remakes!

Jennifer Lopez is set to star in the remake of the 1987 flick Overboard. The original was directed by Garry Marshall and starred Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

If you recall, the flick centered on a spoiled woman who falls off her yacht and is taken to the hospital by a local carpenter. She wakes up with amnesia and he convinces her that she's his wife and gets her to take care of his home and four boys.

As for the remake, Will Smith is producing with Overbrook partner James Lassiter.

Not a good idea to remake this classic we think.

And why cast JLo? Why not Kate Hudson? Or at least a good actress?

Would U pay to see this?

Re: RitaFarb – Good idea! But shhhh! Someone might hear about your idea and cast Cinnabun in a "new" Benji movie! That would piss me off, too!

Many people here don't like JLO's acting and that's fine. IMO,a few movies she was in were good.(Selena,Angel Eyes) But to remake this movie would be stupid,no matter WHO they put in it. I agree that they could never make it better than it already is. Goldie & Kurt MADE the movie to be as good as it is. Fixing something that isn't broken makes no sense.

JLO is perfect for this role….JUST PERFECT…

    7. 107

Why would they remake this movie? It was good with Goldie Hawn. Can't imagine it with a hispanic star, and while it was a good movie, it's not like it was some huge money maker that needs to be redone.

      FUCK NO!
I hate Jlo and I grew up watching Overboard, don't fuckin remake the movie with her in it. Jlo can't even act
I agree with Perez, Kate Hudson would be PERFECT, maybe then I would actually see it.
      STOP RUINING CLASSICS DAMN IT!

Overboard is one of my favorite movies. I have mentioned this to my friends before, and it may sound silly to a few, but I think Goldie Hawn should have received an Oscar nomination for her performance. She definitely created three different characters through her look, voice, body language and facial expressions. She nailed all three: the snobby bitch, Annie and then the "new" Joanna. She was friggin' awesome! It would be a mistake to remake this Goldie classic. Think of something else to do with your money, Will.

Omg I love that movie!! I would not see a remake!!

I don't believe Kate Hudson would be the right person, only because she is like a clone of her mother (her looks, actions - everything), therefore, to me, the movie would have a tendency to feel as though "the original star is playing in the remake"!

As far as J-Lo, I have thoroughly enjoyed her in the movies she's made & think she'd do O.K..
Of course, I definetly feel that the success of the original movie was due to Goldie & Russell, (both attractive, the perfect couple, both great actors, etc…..) - so it will ultimately depend on whether or not they kind find a "good match", which may be a task.
Not only that, but I also believe that another reason for the success of the movie, was that — people that adore Goldie & Russell, such as I,…..there were parts of the movie that made you feel like you were sorta watching a "real story" about the two of them falling in love.

I thought I'd add a few other actresses to the list - that might be able to pull this role off, which are possibly "Cameron Diaz or Drew Barrymore". They both can play diverse rolls very well. As far as men go — a few picks I have are, "Matthew McCaunehey or Dane Cook".

I don't like all the "movie remakes" either - but, it doesn't appear that our opinions will change what the industry ultimately decides to do.

JLo Would be awful in this! I agree, it might be cute to cast Kate Hudson

    13. 113

The "classic" Overboard was based on the classic Italian Lina Wertmuller movie Swept Away. The Guy Richie/Madonna fiasco was the American version of the Italian classic. I think using the word "classic" to describe a cute movie is going overboard.

    14. 114

JLO and George Clooney or Matthew McConoughy. Those are the only two guys she has had awesome chemistry with.

    15. 115

LOVE the original, but not seeing how JLo fits into the project. She's not a good actress either…

    21. 121

    22. 122

It sounds like Will Smith & Jlo are getting lazy! No I would not pay to see this remake. The original was cute though.

    23. 123
