Fifteen years after the trial began, three years after her death, and the billionaire's $$$$$ will never be hers (or her estate's)!
A federal appeals court decided on Friday that Anna Nicole Smith's estate will NOT receive the $300 million requested from former husband J. Howard Marshall's estate!
Sad!
Before her untimely passing, Anna and her legal team had been duking it out in court for Marshall's $1.6 billion fortune, saying Smith's former husband left her his estate after his death in '95.

Re: SkyeStar – Her estate should be compensated for all the legal costs. Dannielynn will now probably suffer financially because of all the court costs. Yes, Anna is dead now. But if she'd gotten her fair share in a timely manner (which is what should have happened, IMO) Dannielynn would have been her heir. It doesn't matter that she isn't Marshall's daughter. Some of the money should have been Anna's….and therefore, as Anna's heir, it should now be Dannielynn's.

So I suppose "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" was not a convincing enough argument to win over the 9th Circuit. This is actually a great victory for everyone who plans to have even a dollar left to leave to someone after they die. If you execute competent and proper estate planning then you too can actually have your assets go to whomever you wish. Perhaps the Marshall's fight here will ensure that no one else will have to shuffle from court to court for 15 years just to keep what is rightfully theirs. This has been a bad year for Howard K. Stern, fighting for his freedom against criminal charges for his role in Anna's death and now shutout of the Marshall fortune which he and Anna fought so frivolously to gain a piece of……sounds like karma to me!
