Could prostitution soon become legal in France???
National Assembly of France member Chantal Brunel says women should be allowed to sell themselves for sex and that six out of ten French citizens agree!
Brunel is arguing that ladies "selling sex" should be "allowed to do so legally on special licensed premises."
"This would free thousands of women from the exploitation they suffer at the hands of pimps and criminal gangs and offer them much more security they currently have on the streets," says Brunel. "It would give them a legal taxable income and they would not be handing over large sums of their earning to a pimp."

Personally I think prositution needs to be legalised in most places. It would take it out of the hands of pimps,gangs, people traffickers etc. The girls know that they're in a 'safe' place, or as safe as they're going to get. They have backup should a client become agressive. Obviously it would have to be implimented and monitored very carefully. And then you have the issue of would they let anyone prostitute themselves at the premises? Or would they have to pass a mental evaluation? What about job interviews how on earth would that work?
But at the end of the day women…and men for that matter will sell themselves regardless. They should be able to do that in as safe an environment as possible.

I agree with Evarisa and would like to add that it will increase tax revenue, and by registering/licensing, they could be subject to screening for STD's etc which would help in keeping the number of STD's down. I kinda see it as a win/win situation.

I think it would be a lot better. Probably sounds weird, but as someone commented earlier, it does work in the Netherlands. The girls are treated well, and are clean. They're also required to be older than 18 and I believe there's some type of organization behind it all that takes care of their rights.
Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world it it probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon, so it may as well be made into a legal business.

Absolutely, it should be legal everywhere. Talk about creating jobs and saving the economy - this could do it in one bold step. License and permit revenue for the states, taxes for the states & feds, jobs for everyone because brothels would need housekeepers, bartenders, security, etc, in addition to prostitutes. The govt offices created to oversee the entire thing would give jobs to thousands of people, too.

I tend to forget that there are countries where prostitution is not legal. While in Canada I talked to a cab driver about prostitution in Hamburg and how famous Hamburg is for that because he planned to visit a friend of him there and judging his reaction he thought I'm a complete weirdo and pervert… lol. In Germany it's a regular job where you pay taxes, get health care and the entitlement to a pension. I didn't know that it's still illegal in France.

It's a great idea - I think America should legalize prostitution and marijuana and put the proceeds towards your new health care system. Legal here in Belgium and we're all good. they pay taxes and everything. Plus it's cleaner because the Gov makes them take monthly STD checks and everything. Pimping isn't legal though, which is a good thing

in all countries of the world (since time began) - girls (and boys) sell their bodies for sex and there is nothing wrong with that. whether it is legal or not really does not matter cause some men will always exploit woman. the down side to legalization is u have to start paying tax on your tricks (like in australia) - but if it offers more protection for the girls then maybe that is a small trade off. Thankfully we are living in an age where working girls (and boys) are gradually starting to get the respect they deserve. Its a business like any other ( however there are some in this industry who are victims to gangs as well as themself - with addiction etc) but there are many who see it purely as work and have a great work ethic- but that is the same in all worlds.

Now, if it was legal the government could receive taxes and regulate the industry, protecting prostitutes and clients alike with testing for STIs and guarantee of good conditions.
Prostitution IS legal in Australia. I see no point of it being illegal, it takes away resources from other areas that could be served better. What's the point of getting involved in someone's sexlife and choices that hurt no one anyways?

Absolutely agree with her. Any civilized country should do the same. Sex workers should have legal rights like any other working citizen. They deserve to do their work in a safe environment. No system is perfect but it would be a good start. The Netherlands is a good example of how this can work well.

prostitution is legal in new zealand too, they pay taxes etc all to get the security that what they are doing is safe, if anything goes wrong, the law is then on their side here. It works well there are less problems now with men taking advantage of these woman and they can now do their job safely.
I think it should be legalized. Their policies, However should be in accordance with the CDC (Center for Disease Control). All willing participants, and consumers, should use condoms. The merchandisers should get tested for STI's including HIV annually. This will prevent the rapid spread if STI's, and prevent their spouses or girlfriends from contracting the disease.
