New Shel Silverstein!

The man who gave us all The Giving Tree is posthumously giving us even more poems to enjoy!
HarperCollins Publishing announced that a untitled collection of 120 to 130 new works and poems by Shel Silverstein will be curated by the author's longtime editor Antonio Markiet and released next year. This marks the second release of work from Silverstein since his passing in 1999.
How exciting for his fans!

The Giving Tree.
Where The Sidewalk Ends, and A Light In The Attic, were two of my favorite books growing up. They taught me to love poetry. I love that something new is coming out. Too many to choose a favorite but "Whatif" and "Messy Room" were two that I loved. I will get these books for my future baby.
There's too many kids in this tub,
There's too mant elbows to scrub,
I just washed a behind that I'm sure isn't mine,
There's too many kids in this tub.
sara cynthia sylvia stout would not take the garbage out!
his work in playboy was epic
What an unhealthy book to read to a child…I think it just instilled in me the need to just give give give no matter how ingrateful the person you are giving to is.

I cannot go to school today, said little peggy an McKay. I have the measels and the mumbs. I have a gash, rash and purple bumps…..
I read all of his books to my son!
The book "Uncle Shelby's ABZ's". Totally inappropriate for a 5 year old and my gr. 1 teacher wasn't impressed when I brought it in for show and tell. Think it is out of print as I never see it anywhere.
PANCAKE?
Who wants a pancake, Sweet and piping hot? Good little Grace looks up and says, “I’ll take the one on top.” Who else wants a pancake, Fresh off the griddle? Terrible Teresa smiles and says, “I’ll take the one in the middle.”
—Shel Silverstein, Where the Sidewalk Ends
The Giving Tree is one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read…makes me cry every time!
The giving tree….fo sho!!!
I had a smile on my face when I read this. The Giving Tree is my favorite.
"ickle me pickle me tickle me too went for a ride in a flying shoe"
There is a CD in some of his poem books that have him reading the poems… That was probably the best when he read it…. When he impersonated the characters it was great!
"there's a polar bear in our Fridgedare, he likes it cuz it's cold in there." A Light in the Attic is the best! Can't wait for this collection to come out! I've read my nephews all his books and they love The Giving Tree!

Uncle Shelby's ABZ Book!!! I love the picture on the back, where he's singing or telling a story to a bunch of little kids and they're having a BLAST! The blurb is my fave, "…Uncle Shelby has never gone to school."
Definitey The Giving Tree - that was my favourite story growing up. I always bring a new copy to a baby shower! Every child should have it.
When the light is green you go
When the light is red you stop
But what do you do when the light turns blue with orange and lavendar spots?
Deaf Donald!!
Deaf Donald met Talkie Sue but ((ASL images of I L U)) was all he did do.
And Sue said "Donald, I sure do like you!" But ((I L U)) was all he could do.
And Sue asked Donald, "Do you like me too?" But ((I L U)) was all he could do.
"Good-bye then Donald, I'm leaving you." But ((I L U)) was all he did do.
And she left forever, so she never knew that ((I L U)) means I love you.
A lesser known, but more powerful Shel poem. Love it
cloony the clown!
