The Addams Family Drama!

Although The Addams Family is getting a lot of Broadway buzz, the whole cast is not as happy as they should be!

Diva Bebe Neuwirth, who plays Morticia, is said to be furious that her role has been reduced since the revamp of the show.

So now, she's making everyone's life miserable!

"Everybody's afraid of her," claims a source. "It's not a good idea to stray near her dressing room."

Bebe is demanding more songs and scenes! And she's pissed that co-star Nathan Lane is running away with the show!

"She doesn't yell or throw tantrums. But she's icy. Cold, icy, knife-in-your-heart," said another production source.

Many people feel that Bebe is wasted in the show and deserves more material, but others claim that she just isn't what she used to be. Since her hip-replacement surgery a few years ago, she's not capable of the same moves she once had.

"She's driving everybody crazy with demands for more songs — but she can't do all that great stuff she used to do so brilliantly," claims another.

Considering the show has a $15 million advance, she's gonna have to hold out!

She's probably mad that she's in a show that just isn't very good. Maybe she's mad that Lane weighs 300 pounds. That advance is going to splinter once the reviews come in.

I saw it Saturday night. She looked great but played the part more like Lilith Sturnon Crane, which I thought was odd. Morticia is supposed to be sexy! She was definitely stiff. There is a big dance number and it was sub par, to say the least; Nathan Lane's footwork was much better. Grandma and Fester steal the show, actually. On the whole it isn't that good, unfortunately. Add her drama and it may be gone before we know it.

I saw the show in previews in Chicago. Bebe looks fabulous, acts the part well, and dances up a storm. The problem is her singing voice. She now has such a heavy vibrato that she sounds like Katherine Hepburn when she sings. You couldn't really hear the melody on any of her songs because of this giant wobble. It's too bad, because otherwise she is great for the part. She looks incredible for her age, but time has caught up with her vocally.

grow up, lady. the world does not revolve around you. at least you can make a living at playing make-believe. consider yourself lucky. get some humility.

I actually got to see the play in Chicago before it went to Broadway. Before acts were cut and I have to say it is probably for the better that her stuff was cut. We would have been happy not to hear her at all

"Considering the show has a $15 million advance, she's gonna have to hold out!"
Do you by any chance mean 'hold UP'?

This sounds false….I saw the show twice in Chicago and she was great. I don't really know how they could have cut her songs because they were pretty important to the plot. Also, The entire cast including bebe came out after the show abd chatted and signed autographs and bebe was really sweet. Nathan snuck out. Couldn't handle 10 whole people asking for an autograph. Sounds fishy to me…..

You might want to get your facts straight. First of all, Lane and Neuwirth have both denied the rumors, started by Cindy Adams with the fires fanned by theatrical gossip Michael Riedel. Secondly, like any show that is this big, there are issues to iron out. They are still in previews and while some say that Neuwirth has DEMANDED a song, some songs were cut and some are yet to be added (again, this is all part of getting a show ready for Broadway). Unfortunately, the producers created some issues by allowing two directors to work on a show that was way too big for them and beyond their experience. Zaks has been brought in (and NOT as some say because Lane demanded it). He is working with the cast and the two directors and there are many changes (some already in place and some yet to come). As with any highly anticipated show, it is tempting to create drama…but I wouldn't count the team out yet. They have a big hill to climb to make up the time they lost in Chicago before Zaks joined the crew…but they are working their proverbial butts off. Now if we could just let them do their jobs instead of assuming that every rumor we hear is true and writing them off before they even open.
