The Corey Haim Memorial Fund Needs More $$$!
He passed away with hardly a cent to his name!
Corey Haim's funeral still has unmet expenses and the memorial fund in his honor is still accepting donations. The website reads:
"Unfortunately, the amount of donation the media has reported that Startifacts made to The Corey Haim Memorial Fund was less in actuality (they donated $10,000 rather than $20,000).
"This means that the funeral expenses have not been taken care of in their entirety. If you haven't donated and would like to, please know that donations are still very much needed."
Haim filed for bankruptcy in 1997 revealing that he owed $104,000 to the IRS and $100,000 to the state of California for taxes and medical expenses. His only assets were a 1987 BMW, $100 in cash, $750 in clothing and $7,500 in residuals and royalties as well as a pension plan.

This is ridiculous, I'm pretty sure most people could perfectly do a funeral with those $10,000 that were donated, have they asked the family members first? What kind of funeral they are trying to give him? Maybe if they cannot afford a funeral they should consider cremation.

Wow, I would think he'd have some friends in Hollywood left who'd be kind enough to donate. Having buried my father 6 years ago, I know how expensive it is to bury someone. That cost around $7000, and that was with the cheapest coffin we could find, and he already had a plot, so 10,000 is not enough. I'm really surprised at the venom in the comments, he may have been a drug addict, but he was a person, and someone with a sick mom who is left footing the bill, and a lot of false friends. I feel nothing but pity for the situation. If I had anything I would donate, and I'm a stranger to him.

Im confused. The funeral home donated their services and that friend donated $10, 000. That should be plenty to cover the shipment costs, casket and burial plot. Secondly….why the hell isnt Feldman donating cash?? He was his best friend and didnt even show up to the funeral. The least he could do is give something. This guy from Startifacts only knew Haim for a few years.

Make a donation to an organization in order to help a dead celebrity who couldn't or rather wouldn't help himself? while he may not be here any more, anyone donating to pay his debts is enabling the next drug using celebbrity who decides to destroy his/her life and expect his celebrity status to get him out of it. Yes, I realize they want a Jewish ceremony. Obviously they did not abide by the true Jewish burial, if so he would have been buried within 24 hours. I think that a lot of these comments are cruel and unnecessary. Have a little respect for someone who just died. I think it is sad that there is a site asking for donations for a celebrity. It is sad that with all the films that he made that he died broke. That is because he spent all of his money on drugs. That is what addiction does to you. I would think that between Corey's family and friends that they could all contribute to pay for the funeral expenses. While I do feel really badly, and he was one of my favorite actors way back when, I will not be making a donation. My son is severely Autistic. I don't go around asking for donations. It seems like $10,000 should be plenty for a funeral. When my father died he was cremated and there was a memorial service. He didn't want a funeral. This wasn't for financial reasons, but for religious reasons. That was his wish and that is exactly what I want when I die. The family should have for Corey what they can afford. RIP Corey. I am a recovering drug addict, been clean for 8 years, and I wouldn't expect anyone to donate money to my funeral. I am very sad about his death, even tho I didn't personal know him, it is like part of my life is gone too. He was a big part of my life growing up. And he was the same age as me. I had a huge crush on him. And the bankruptcy, story was from a long time ago, years and years ago. Anyway it would be nice if people could just say nice things or nothing but thats not how life is. No insurance policy anywhere? My mom's funeral cost around $3,000 back in 2000. How much is it now? The stuff owed to California is moot since he's gone, yes? Seems like the $10,000 could have covered the expenses. My mom got a pine box and cremated. It's what I could afford and what she wanted…do you really need more than that?
