It's official!

After fierce competition with several contenders, Chris Evans will play Steve Rogers (aka Captain America)!!!!

He has accepted Marvel's offfer and contract negotiations were finalized over the weekend.

Are U happy with the final decision?!

      No way! He's the Human Torch (Fantastic Four)! In The Avengers (a movie promised to be made), the Fantastic Four and Captain America meet… HOW IS THE HUMAN TORCH AND CAPTAIN AMERICA SUPPOSED TO MEET IF THEY ARE THE SAME PERSON?!?! It's kinda upsetting, especially to the geek / comic-reading public.

      He is too pretty to be Captain America! Not handsome or manly enough. He could bring in ages 16-23, but cross out the men and the baby boomers. They are going to need some Avatar special effects to bring in a crowd.

      If does not make the next years summer blockbuster rounds…there might be problems.

      That's rad, but didn't he the rold of Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four and now he's Steve Rogers? Are they going to CG Johnny Storm in the Avengers movie?

      He's way too young. Cap is supposed to be the patriarch of the Avengers, and when it happens, the timelines will be out of sync. The movie will have to focus on the early years, as the character was seemingly around 40 -45 in the comics.

      Yawn Yawn another movie to avoid. Who the hell wants to be see a grown man dress up in tight wearing the American flag……it sounds so corny to watch. Captain America last came out and went straight to DVD…lets hope his one follow the footstep…worst Marvel Comic character ever.

      'Cos the Fantastic Four are being rebooted and new actors will be casted. Chris Evans lost a job… and got a new job, good for him… and who ever said teh Fantastic Four show up in The Avengers. It's not possible. The right of teh Fantastic Four are with Fox and The Avengers are being made by Disney/Marvel.

      I should have expected stupidity from the perez Hilton blog over this. First the avengers and ff hardly ever meet pick up a comic will ya. Second they are rebooting ff meaning a new Johnny storm. Third marvel/Disney owns the movie rights to cap and the avengers while 20th century fox owns the movie rights to ff so no crossover anytime like ever. Fourth to those saying Evans is to young and cap was in his 40s umm pick up a comic cap was in his 20s during WWII he'll even his obituary from when he died had him born in 1920something when he was revived comic time and actual time don't always mesh up. So Chris Evans for captain America good choice he just needs longer hair and he perfect

      Chris Evans is sorta perfect for the role. He's certainly got the build for it, hopefully he can act above his usual sarcasm. Oh and FYI Fantastic Four is being rebooted so he wont be in it and the f four most likely not going to appear in the avengers that would be dumb. Also anyone who is saying he doesn't meet the age requirements for steve rogers aka Captain America should do some research, he was around the age of 23 when he decided to join the fight and rejected only later to be offered to be the human test subject for the super soldier serum that makes him captain america. If he was in his 40's then the war would've been over.

      OK, don't get me wrong, Chris Evans is sick HOT but not right for this role: too young. The creators/writers of the comic wanted John Jon Hamm from Mad Med for the role because of his looks and age. I agree. He would have been perfect for the role but, like always, youth prevails. Color me NOT surprised. BTW: Fantastic Four is DONE. At least with the existing cast. So Evans has no obligation to do another one.

      AWFUL CASTING and pure lazyness for recycling a marvel actor. I will
      not see this or the other 9 movies they got him in because Hollywood
      hates comic book fans and do not respect the characters they love.
      And would they need to reboot the Fantastic 4 franchise if it was
      actually good??? NO they wouldn't, it sucked. So why cast someone who
      was responsible with the destruction of one franchise to take part in
      another, none the least 9 more movies. Wake me up in 2025 when they

      great casting! i adore john krasinski as much as the next girl but he's just not a superhero. considering how many actors were up for this part, and how many screen tested, chris evans must have done something really well, so i think he's gonna rock. if you want proof of his awesomeness, watch danny boyle's sunshine. i agree that the fantastic four movies weren't, but its absurd to blame a bad movie on one actor - it ultimately comes down to the director and the producers to make the final decisions about how to make a good film, so don't judge him based on those movies.
