Michael Moore Talks Health Reform!!

Now that Health Care Reform has passed, we expected Michael Moore to comment sooner rather than letter, and he doesn't disappoint!!

The controversial documentary filmmaker has written this open letter to Republicans:

To My Fellow Citizens, the Republicans:

Thanks to last night's vote, that child of yours who has had asthma since birth will now be covered after suffering for her first nine years as an American child with a pre-existing condition.

Thanks to last night's vote, that 23-year-old of yours who will be hit one day by a drunk driver and spend six months recovering in the hospital will now not go bankrupt because you will be able to keep him on your insurance policy.

Thanks to last night's vote, after your cancer returns for the third time — racking up another $200,000 in costs to keep you alive — your insurance company will have to commit a criminal act if they even think of dropping you from their rolls.

Yes, my Republican friends, even though you have opposed this health care bill, we've made sure it is going to cover you, too, in your time of need. I know you're upset right now. I know you probably think that if you did get wiped out by an illness, or thrown out of your home because of a medical bankruptcy, that you would somehow pull yourself up by your bootstraps and survive. I know that's a comforting story to tell yourself, and if John Wayne were still alive I'm sure he could make that into a movie for you.

But the reality is that these health insurance companies have only one mission: To take as much money from you as they can — and then work like demons to deny you whatever coverage and help they can should you get sick.

So, when you find yourself suddenly broadsided by a life-threatening illness someday, perhaps you'll thank those pinko-socialist, Canadian-loving Democrats and independents for what they did Sunday evening.

If it's any consolation, the thieves who run the health insurance companies will still get to deny coverage to adults with pre-existing conditions for the next four years. They'll also get to cap an individual's annual health care reimbursements for the next four years. And if they break the pre-existing ban that was passed last night, they'll only be fined $100 a day! And, the best part? The law will require all citizens who aren't poor or old to write a check to a private insurance company. It's truly a banner day for these corporations.

So don't feel too bad. We're a long way from universal health care. Over 15 million Americans will still be uncovered — and that means about 15,000 will still lose their lives each year because they won't be able to afford to see a doctor or get an operation. But another 30,000 will live. I hope that's ok with you.

If you don't mind, we're now going to get busy trying to improve upon this bill so that all Americans are covered and so the grubby health insurance companies will be put out of business — because when it comes to helping the sick, no one should ever be allowed to ask the question, "How much money can we save by making this poor bastard suffer?"

Please, my Republican friends, if you can, take a quiet moment away from your AM radio and cable news network this morning and be happy for your country. We're doing better. And we're doing it for you, too.

Yours,
Michael Moore

P.S. I'll have more to say on this tonight, live on CNN, at 9pm ET. I'll be talking with Larry King about the health care bill and where we go from here, considering we still don't have universal health care.

P.P.S. In case you missed these photos in yesterday's NY Times Sunday Magazine… That's the results of seven years of madness. The Iraq War began its 8th year this weekend. How can we remove more of those responsible for this tragedy in November?

Wow.

What do U think?? Is Moore on the mark or just trying to stir some more shiz??

Re: tora He has more knowledge on the corrupt conditions in American than most citizens. – You really believe that? Tell me tora. If he is so against capitalism, why is he still making money off all his films and books via capitalism? The guy is in it for himself. He wants to make money. He is bowling for suckers. And it seems your pin has been knocked down the alley for quiet some time now.

Moore is a user. He has no interest in the well being of America. He only cares about himself. His movies are full of baseless accusations and half-truths.

Not someone I'd look up to. BTW replace moore's name with Coulter, Rush, etc and I'd say the same thing. This isn't a partisan rant.

Hey Michael - go fuck yourself!

As a Canadian, I have been feeling sorry for Americans since I found out about their health care system…Yes, you will have to pay more taxes, and Yes, change is scary…But, it's going to help you all in the long run…Enjoy!

[re=4869743]Re: blasted Michael Moore's comments are mild compared to what I've been hearing all week long from right wing-nut commentators. They are rabid with anger, and we should all be worried because they sound potentially dangerous.
    [/re]

You mean like with Bush was in office and he was being called a nazi, the anti-Christ, and there was calls to assassinate him and torture him for his "war crimes"

I find the selective memory of political zealots to be humorous at times.

    Thanks for the laugh.

  5. 205

I love how you loser republicans are here spouting off that MM is a fat ass or whatever, but give absolutely no intelligent argument about why you disagree with him. Typical.
People need to wake up and realize that it's not only "lazy people that don't want to work" that are going to benefit from this. Chances are they have been getting medical assistance anyway. But there are people that have worked their asses off and have health insurance but are denied when they get sick and need it the most. I mean, there have been women denied cancer treatment because they had a simple yeast infection when they were teenager and the insurance companies want to call it a "preexisting condition". It's ridiculous.

[re=4869732]Re: poisongirl77 I am Canadian, and all I can say is it's about fricken time. Congrats you guys and enjoy, Healthcare is a right not a priviledge. And kudos to Michael Moore for standing up for everyones rights!
    [/re]

He Einstein. You realize that not everyone will get care right? Obama himself said that there will be thought decisions to make as to what care people get etc. People are still going to die without healthcare under Obamacare.

It just simply AMAZES me at the ignorance of this all from people that support it.

    Blind Loyalty breeds sheeple.

  7. 207

[re=4869770]Re: Unruly Of course Moore is on the mark. I had a friend who was denied chemo because his insurance company claimed his cancer had started when he was with a different insurance company
    [/re]
And under Obamacare. people dying with cancer will be denied as well. You know that right?

  8. 208

Nothing is for free people! Don't you get it??!! The only way all those people without coverage are going to get it is to tax the hell out of the middle class. It enables people to sit on their asses and do nothing while people like me who worked hard to put myself through college bust my ass to make a decent living. Its wrong!

  9. 209

[re=4869726]Re: chlyn Well said, Mike. And the only ones who lied and promoted fear on this issue are the Republicans.
    [/re]

Both sides lied. If you think your side has a moral advantage over the other, you're being just as stupid as you claim the right is. And you don't realize it.

    WAKE UP PEOPLE.

[re=4870688]Re: alice79 I mean, there have been women denied cancer treatment because they had a simple yeast infection when they were teenager and the insurance companies want to call it a "preexisting condition". It's ridiculous.
    /re]

Alice do you think that Under Obamacare, people with pre-existing conditions that they are dying from, will get covered?

Or does Obama suggest them "eat cake.. er pain pills" and go home till they die?

I'll tell ya right now. It's the latter. Look it up on youtube. From his own mouth.

PEOPLE WILL STILL BE DENIED COVEREAGE UNDER OBAMACARE.

  12. 212

Can't say I'm a fan of Michael Moore, though I do support some of the same policies he does. We have the same hometown (no…he's not from Flint!) and he's always just been himself - he's been like this since he was a kid :-)

I do however appreciate this letter by him - I believe it is spot on and that eventually, those opposed to the healthcare reform will be able to see how many people it helps and that it will indeed help them and their families as well. This is for all of us, even those against it. We are all Americans, yes. But most of all, we are all human beings trying to live our lives the best we can. I'm tired of going to work everyday (hospital) and having my heart broken and witnessing families heartbroken over insurance and the pain it causes. Pain and death. Because they can't afford insurance. I have insurance, but you know what? Just because I CAN afford insurance, doesn't give me a single right to prevent someone else from having it. What kind of human being can deny another their life? I thought those people got put into prison. My heart goes out to those who disagree and are angry right now. We are not your enemies, we just see those around us suffering and we desperately want to relieve it.

  13. 213

    wow that was great

  14. 214

BTW this isn't just a Repub/Dem thing. I'm NEITHER and I think this is crap.

The fact is the Democrats should have done with the MAJORITY of the US ALL WANTED them to do. Which was WORK with both sides to find those common ground IDEASS that both sides agreed on, and pass them TOGETHER.

Now, thy are going to have to revolt, repeal, and replace EVEN THE GOOD STUFF just to wipe out the lard and crap.

  15. 215

Oh and anyone that thinks this is over/written in stone, better think again.

  16. 216

HE'S RIGHT! NO ONE SHOULD PROFIT OFF OF OTHER PEOPLES PAIN AND SUFFERING! ITS IMMORAL AND WRONG NO MATTER WHAT PARTY YOU SUPPORT. THE PEOPLE WHO SUFFER THE MOST AREN'T THE POOR, ITS THE WORKING MAN WHO HAS INSURANCE THAT HE PAYS FOR AND STILL GETS DENIED COVERAGE AND GOES BANKRUPT. 2/3 OF BANKRUPTCY ARE DUE TO HOSPITAL BILLS OF PEOPLE WITH INSURANCE!!!! WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE!

  17. 217

Re: Unruly – THANKS MAN! FINALLY THE TRUTH IS SPOKEN TO THESE MORONIC IDIOTS THAT THINK THEY KNOW IT ALL BECAUSE THEY WATCH FAUX NEWS AND BELIEVE EVERYTHING THEY READ. DID THEY READ THE HEALTH CARE BILL? NOOOO, BUT THEY SURE AS HELL CAN COMMENT ON WHAT IS IN IT AND WHAT ISN'T. TOO FUNNY!

  18. 218

Re: alice79 – Amen! You are so right! I just can't get over the fact of Americans being so afraid of change. I'm from Holland and our health care system is one of the things I'm very proud of. You should also be very proud of what Obama and all of you have acchieved!

  19. 219

He is being overly simplistic and conveniently neglects to mention how this is all going to be paid for. Cuts in Medicare and a nominal tax on those making over $250,000 a year just ain't going to cut it.

  20. ss794 says – reply to this

    220

Why don't you people read the bill!! You will see that it is all about personal control & taxes and not healthcare. Otherwise continue to be sheep and not think and research for yourselves.

  21. 221

Re: celebnewsjunkie – Agreed. I've been supporting myself since I was old enough to work and I bust my ass to put myself through college with a 4.0 and support myself financially and now, thanks to a bunch of welfare-dependant drug addicted lazy SOBs I won't see the benefits of my hard work. If we are being rewarded by the government for sitting around in our trailers watching Maury and smoking pot all day instead of getting a damn real job and education, why should I even bother to work hard?

  22. 222

I ususally cannot stand Michael Moore but I finally agree with something he has said!!

  23. 223

says the person who uses the word "stupid" as a noun

  24. 224

Well, like him or not, he's dead on here!

  25. 225

Honestly you Americans are never happy, shut up and accept the greatest gift you could give your numnuts country. Its so embarrassing to have you as neighbours. You are so far behind the times when it comes to social issues.Suck it and pay abit more in taxes so that everyone is entitled to a decent health plan. You think your the greatest country on earth but you treat your fellow citizens like shit.

  26. 226

    Re: Kimmers

Some of us will see how it hurts others too. Those that are going on and on about how great it is, for some reason fails to mention the negatives. And many of us think they outweigh the positives.

Many of us don't mind a gov ran system. I just think the American people DESERVE BETTER.

If it's not good enough for Obama and his family, it's not good enough for me and my family.

  27. 227

Re: breckensmom – brecken when your daughter is 23 and out of college, if this bill had not passed, would not have access to health insurance anymore unless you were willing to pay $400 premiums every month. Jobs are not as abundant as they once were.

  28. 228

This is total BS. I WORK in the medical field. You CANNOT turn away a child, or anyone in this country from medical care! Now, it may not be fully covered, or covered at all, but we usually get stiffed on the bill anyway. Michael Moore is full of shit and I hope he is the first in line for the "unmanageable lifestyle" penalty. The "overweight" penalty and the "personal grooming" penalty.

  29. 229

He's right on the spot. I love Michel Moore. I just say thank God I live in Sweden. Free healtcare, just been with my daughter to the doctor, cost: 4 dollars, for that I get everything we need. Surgery for her, cost: 0 dollars. 1 and a half year of PAID maternity leave, 6 weeks paid vacation. If I get laid of I get 75% of my salary paid so that I can concentrate on finding a new job with out getting bankrupt. Yes, I pay up to 35% in tax, more if I would be richer, but how can a country not support it's sick and needy? For me that's just unbelievable. I lived in the US for a year. A friend of the family was in labor from out of state and had to ride in the ambulance around the whole of St Louis just to find a hospital that would take her in because most hospitals wouldn't support her insurance. To me thats an autrocity. So I say: Congratulation to the US for finally stepping on the right path. It's about time.

  30. 230

Michael Moore telling it like it is. Love him!

  31. 231

300 million people have insurance that works for them. Thanks for screwing up THEIR lives to cover 12 million who supposedly can't get it.

  32. 232

"HE'S RIGHT! NO ONE SHOULD PROFIT OFF OF OTHER PEOPLES PAIN AND SUFFERING!"

Except the gov? You know they will be profiting right?

"THE PEOPLE WHO SUFFER THE MOST AREN'T THE POOR, ITS THE WORKING MAN WHO HAS INSURANCE THAT HE PAYS FOR AND STILL GETS DENIED COVERAGE AND GOES BANKRUPT. 2/3 OF BANKRUPTCY ARE DUE TO HOSPITAL BILLS OF PEOPLE WITH INSURANCE!!!! WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE!"

You tell people to read what it's about, and yet you don't have a clue. Again, you do realize people will be denied coverage with Obamacare just like they are now right? If the panel that decides such thing thinks a person is too old, or a person has a pre-existing condition that would take up too much of a tax-payers money, they too will get denied right?

If you didn't know this, I suggest you stop being hypocritical and READ IT YOURSELF.

This is like Obama saying to the American people "Let them eat cake" but replace cake with pain pills.

  33. 233

[re=4870757]Re: ss794 Why don't you people read the bill!! You will see that it is all about personal control & taxes and not healthcare. Otherwise continue to be sheep and not think and research for yourselves.

WOW Someone on here knows what is going on. Impressive.

    kudos to you.

  34. 234

Maybe instead of writing this out to Republicans, he should instead write a letter to all of the people within America. You know, considering the fact that the majority of America doesn't want this health care reform. Hah, Welcome to America… Where Democracy is no longer apparently? Since when is it okay for our government to present our people with something that the majority of the people don't want. Soooo not okay.

  35. 235

Re: Erinnngrl Maybe instead of writing this out to Republicans, he should instead write a letter to all of the people within America. Since when is it okay for our government to present our people with something that the majority of the people don't want. Soooo not okay.

Exactly! This is why a lot of Dems will be elected out of office during the upcoming elections. It's also why the dems bullied it through. They knew it would never be passed otherwise. So it's not what the people want, they think they "know better" Hillary Clinton had that same pretentious condescending banter. I am so sick of it.

  36. 236

Re: nezzie – You have your opinion and I accept that. But can you consider the fact that not everyone that doesn't have insurance is a pot smoker that sits at home and watches Maury in their trailer park? I went to college too, worked full-time and went to school full-time. Good for me and you, honestly, good for us! But there are so many people that don't even get that chance. I have people that live in my apartment complex that sit on their bums and recieve government benefits. Does it make me mad that I leave at 6am, come home at 11pm and their cars haven't budged? YES. But for every person like that, there is a person that really would jump at the chance to work, to afford what they need and are embarrassed to be accepting "charity". I personally cannot reconcile punishing those people for the laziness of others.

  37. 237

[re=4870795]Re: Fyre85 brecken when your daughter is 23 and out of college, if this bill had not passed, would not have access to health insurance anymore unless you were willing to pay $400 premiums every month. Jobs are not as abundant as they once were.
    [/re]

If her daughter has a pre-existing condition it might still not be covered. Or say god forbid she gets cancer to the point were it's going to kill her. That costs too much. Obamacare can't pay for that. Sorry.

If you don't even want to read what it's really about. Go to youtube and listen to what Obama himself has said.

  38. 238

Re: Plinkie9 – So you rather have people be denied the opportunity to receive medical treatment so you could have a little bit of extra money at the end of the year? If $300-400 of my hard earned money went towards saving lives… then it's money well spent.

  39. 239

you actually have to ask such an inane question?! of course he's right on the mark! what he said is the truth and not because he said it, but because it is.

  40. 240

Re: jamoosh – Funny, I work in the health care field as well, and last week we just had re-training on this. (EMTALA) There are many, many instances where a patient can be turned away! It depends on what property the facility is on, what kind of facility it is, etc. You are correct in that no one can be turned away if it is indeed deemed an emergency situation and IF they are in a certified emergency facility. The hospital is only obligated to stabelize - from then on there is no obligation. If you do not have insurance - tough luck, you're on your own.

  41. 241

I think he's right! Everyone in this country should have health care. I have many medical issues and I've been really lucky to have always had coverage.
IMO,anyone who says different better hope they never get seriously ill.

  42. 242

    FAT

  43. 243

Re: p.s. – Why did your Prime Minister come to the U.S. for his life saving surgery?? Oh that's right, because he would have had to go on a waiting list to get that surgery. I only wish that our elected officials would have to take the Public Option like the rest of us because ya' know a Public Option form of Health Insurance is their ultimate goal.

  44. 244

Re: blueboy – I'm Team BlueBoy!

  45. 245

I actually for the first time ever have to agree with his statemnet!

  46. 246

Re: spacemonkeymafia – why not? As a citizen of the US everyone should be commenting on this huge issue!

  47. 247

Congratulations America! But what's the November tragedy he's talking about? What happened?
    xo

  48. 248

  49. 249

    I love this guy :D

  50. 250

well said. you americans will some day realize that health reform is the best thing that could've happened to you

  51. 251

    He's right

  52. 252

Thanks Mr. Moore, but I don't need the government paying my bills.

  53. 253

Re: Plinkie9 – America leading in education? LMFAO…. what drugs are you on…

  54. 254

Re: furball – we aren't getting what canada or france have. everyone keeps comparing the US with canada in this debate, but if you have read the bill (i have, with the help of a lawyer friend), you would see that a) it's not anything like the system canada has, and b) the insurance and pharm companies you rail against and claim the republicans are in bed with, are the actual winners in this. small business owners, the self-employed, and the working (ie taxpaying) middle class are once again going to be overburdened by a government program doomed to insolvancy. i agree that our healthcare system is in grave need of reform and that as a nation we need to do a better job of taking care of each other. and if wefare was regulated and fraud eliminated, the social safety net programs we already have would take care of those who actually needed it. we need smarter solutions that don't involve curbing the very freedoms that make america unique. i love canada, but why do we want to be them?

  55. 255

I'm sorry but a lot of you people are so ignorant it's unbelievable, yes higher taxes and yes that puts some people out in some ways. But doesn't it make you feel good that your taxes are going to other peoples benefits? That you're helping people out with their health.. that it could be the thing between if someone lives or dies? I mean think of the big picture and not so selfishly about how it affects you. It affects everybody and you can't just look at your own situation to judge, you have to look at everyones as a whole. This is about the country not you specifically. Yes theres higher taxes but if it means to save some peoples lives then there's no one that can say that's a bad thing.

  56. 256

we aren't getting what canada or france have. everyone keeps comparing the US with canada in this debate, but if you have read the bill (i have, with the help of a lawyer friend), you would see that a) it's not anything like the system canada has, and b) the insurance and pharm companies you rail against and claim the republicans are in bed with, are the actual winners in this. small business owners, the self-employed, and the working (ie taxpaying) middle class are once again going to be overburdened by a government program doomed to insolvancy. i agree that our healthcare system is in grave need of reform and that as a nation we need to do a better job of taking care of each other. and if wefare was regulated and fraud eliminated, the social safety net programs we already have would take care of those who actually needed it. we need smarter solutions that don't involve curbing the very freedoms that make america unique. i love canada, but why do we want to be them?

  57. 257

And my parents, who retired with full health insurance covered by their pension, are now going to be taxed out the yin-yang for it. What a great reward for 30+ years of public service! Thanks Government!

And I'd say that Michael Moore can eat it, but judging by that picture, he already has.

  58. 258

    Re: Plinkie9
I'm sorry but you're a moron. If you really believe that, I feel VERY sorry for you.

  59. 259

Re: pancrasia – Yay Canada!! haha

  60. 260

Gotta love Michael Moore…always hits the nail on the head! He's right - this is a great start to health care reform, but we still have a way to go before it can truly be called universal health care in America.

P.S. How soon before Rush Limbaugh flees the country now that health care reform has passed - as stated earlier this month - "I’ll just tell you this, if this passes and it’s five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented — I am leaving the country. I’ll go to Costa Rica." Um yeah, Costa Rica has "government-run health care…" Don't let the door hit you in your douchebag ass, Rush!!!!!

  61. 261

Re: KevinK – You're right. I know that this bill is not perfect by any means. It does have many negatives. I'm not entirely pleased by it, but something has got to give in this country. Look at the "debate" over this - people get just plain mean and cruel-hearted on both sides. The only way a bill could possibly pass with the majority supporting it, is to have everyone calm down, think clearly, and work together instead of hurling insults and disregarding anyone's opinion that is different. We can ALL learn a lot by actually listening to our "opponents" view - sometimes they think of things we don't and vice versa. As many people there are in this country, there are just as many stories and experiences. It's probably an idealistic viewpoint but I'm still going to say it: to those unhappy and to those happy with what was passed - we desperately need to work together to merge our viewpoints.

  62. 262

Thanks to that vote, all us poor shmucks working for private health care or insurance comanies who will be out of work won't have to worry about finding a new job since we'll be able to recieve free health care without working and paying taxes to support it! Hmm, Mr President, how many jobs is this going to eliminate?

  63. 263

    He's on the mark.

  64. candt says – reply to this

    264

all of the people from the united states that don't agree with the passing of this bill are ignorant red necks. maybe with your own bill passing canadians won't have to pay for the americans who cross over the border and try to use our health care. the canadian and american dollar is par and we still pay more for our electronics etc, how about you put the extra money youre saving into saving your fellow citizens. i wish i could call MM a canadian.

  65. 265

I have exhausted myself expressing my view on this topic. So I'll just say I echo Michael Moore!
Teabaggers, Republicans, one day you will see…for your good as well as mine.
No hardworking tax paying American should be faced with financial ruin because they get sick or injured-EVER!
If you are wealthy or upper-middle class several hundred thousand $$ in medical bills can adversely effect even YOU! It can happen to ANYONE!

  66. 266

People are concern about the tax $$ used to pay for Uni healthcare….money paid towards taxes will be less than money u don't have that you will have to pay up when u need cancer treatment or something else coz your insurance won't pay up! For someone who was born with diabetes and all my life barely got covered and my parents had to pay an arm, leg and neck to keep me alive, I am happy about this!!!

  67. 267

As a Canadian I have to agree with him. I was very interested in reading just what this health care bill entailed. I have to say its a big step in the right direction but still there is a lot missing that I honestly take for granted.
Personally it feels great to know that if I anything ever went wrong with my health - whether I was employed or not - I can get the treatment I need at no cost to me..and the stories about long waits for tests/etc that go around in the states - its bunk. I have never had to wait very long

  68. laz says – reply to this

    268

Both, and I agree. Work on making it better, yes.

  69. 269

    He's an angry dude….wow!!!

  70. 270

Even countries with universal health care do not have perfect systems in place. Can such a thing ever be accomplished? I don't know, but I do know that I'm more than appreciative of the fact that I live in a country where I see my tax dollars put back into a system that benefits me and my follow countrymen. Again, it's not perfect but you can't give nothing and want everything in return. I may pay high taxes, but it's always nice to see that I get something back each year from my tax return. This bill in theory is a great idea. Healthcare professionals take an oath to save lives of all, not the ones who have big wallets so I don't see why everyone shouldn't be afforded the same basic healthcare attention. Again, in theory, it sounds great. I haven't read the bill though, I don't know what it contains and I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon or pretend I know facts that pertain to this bill. Something in principle can sound great, but in practice, can turn out to be more detrimental than beneficial. For anyone worried more about an increase in taxes to help pay for a poorer person to see the doctor…yeah, I dont' sympathize. Only time will tell how this all unfolds but I do hope this bill isn't a pile of crap that's been wrapped in a pretty package to sell because it would be really unfortunate for Americans to feel the security of a healthcare system which ultimately fails them rather than help them.

  71. 271

You may not like him, but he is a wildly intelligent person who cares enough about the world to try and change it. More than any of his haters do.

  72. 272

    Re: nezzie
Are you really that fucking ignorant??? There are people busting their asses everyday and paying their own insurance that get screwed by health insurance companies anyway. Do you know how many people can't get insurance because of simple ailments, like being born with asthma? Or how many people go bankrupt paying ridiculous amounts of money for hospital bills? Why don't you go do some research before spouting off your idiotic opinions. You sound like total trash.

  73. 273

Re: Pacific Ocean Gal – Spoken like a true dipshit. Democrats are the dumbest bastards on the face of the Earth. Idiots like you know absolutely nothing about the bill, nothing about government, and even less about life in general. You sit back and blame everyone else for your own faults. Republicans this, Republicans that. Funny, last I checked, both parties were equally responsible for each and everything that has ever happened in this country. One does not rule alone without the other.
Then you go on and bullshit about how the Republicans are all rich and crave fame, blah blah blah. Reality check sister, the majority of the rich and famous are Democrats! Check the Hollywood register dumbass. All you asshole flower children always want these kind of bullshit changes, because you enjoy living off of those of us who actually work for a living and don't look for handouts to support your 1/2 dozen illegitimate children. Fuck you all.

  74. 274

Re: poisongirl77 – Healthcare is not a right. Rights are innate, God given. For it to be a right obligates a second person or persons to provide the care, thus infringing on their rights. However, this is not to say that we should not be compassionate as a society. We should devise our healthcare system such that it is affordable and easily accessible to as many people as possible.

  75. 275

Re: Dianne – I hope you've realised by now the only people who think America is the greatest nation in the world… are Americans. Also, go check some statistics before claiming healthcare in England and Canada sucks. Franky, the lack of compassion for less fortunate people that some of the posters here show is disgusting. Me me me, that's what (a certain group of) Americans are all about. Not being able to pay for health insurance doesn't automatically mean you're uneducated or not working hard enough. The fact that several Americans have to hold down 3 jobs just to be able to pay the rent is retarded in itself.. but a whole different subject so I'll leave it at that. Millions of people around the world are happy for you. I used to be one of them, but after having read several ignorant and angry reactions in different media, I changed my mind. I don't care for Americans anymore. Have fun in your 'great' country where people can die because they can't pay for necessary treatment. Michael Moore is spot on.

  76. 276

Hes right on the dot! Im sorry if any americans feel upset about this but you have to understand how dreading it is to read your claim for health care insurance is denied over something so stupid or when you have to choose between what you can afford and what you cant. There has been people worked for the health care issuance companies and are disgusted with how many people they have denied and prob are dead because they were denied health care insurance! I am canadian so THANKFUL that my country has universal health care! See if i get breast cancer i dont have to worry how much money have or if i will be denied of my rights for health care! Hell i wish i lived france those people got their lives almost to perfection because their government wants their lives to be as easy and happy as it can and they will make sure they can do so for you. UNIVERSAL CARE FOR ALL!

  77. 277

UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE FOR ALL!!!!!!!!! GET WITH THE REST OF US WHO DO HAVE IT!!!! Trust me i rather pay taxes and have the knowing if i get seriously sick or something tragic happens too me or someone and love care for that the hospital will only ask to see our health cards and let us use the free health care we all deserve. Join your brother canada take the step forward for UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE! I promise you it wont kill you! Moore you couldnt me more right to the point then others and there will always be those people who couldnt want more then to shut you up but i say talk all you want but this is a good start for all you americans its happy time and it will THE BIGGEST STEP WHEN YOU GET UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE!

  78. 278

Re: LA Doc – Please go away. You call the UN a joke? Why not quote Bill O' Reilly and say everyone outside the US 'does statistics differently'? Whenever there's a poll or report that in whatever shape or form has some negative to say about the US, the first thing you Americans say is "it's a lie" or "the whole investigation was joke". It's about time you learn that the US is not the greatest country known to man. Greatest nuisance maybe, but not greatest nation. It's a shame a doctor is able to make me sick…

  79. 279

    Re: maribella
Boy oh boy, Maribella, your ignorance, miopia and pretense are impressive. LMAO! You absolutely missed the gist of anything I said. Let's see, where to begin. First of all Massachusetts is an example of government-run, universal care, which is now going insolvent after a couple short years. Malpractice costs involve tests and procedures that are deemed relatively unnecessary, but are done anyways to protect against potential liability, hence the drive-up in costs, along with malpractice premiums, which are skyrocketing. 85% of lawsuits are deemed frivolous and opportunistic. We aren't arbitrarily raising rates because we're scared of some rich guy who can afford to sue. In fact, contingency (do you know what that means) services from the TORT bar ensure that the majority of lawsuits are from poorer opportunists. And why don't you look into life-expectancy rates specifically pertaining to treatments for various diseases. You'll find that the US far outpaces the rest of the world when it comes to longevity. Of course, when it comes to shooting each other, obesity, accidents, and other bad habits, then life-expectancy drops. Seriously, why don't you do some serious reading first (instead of People Magazine and Us) before you spew naive, hormonal nonsense. You just made my day, I had a great laugh at your expense this morning.

    Re: Moogle80
LOL, bitter little victim, aren't we? WAH! Can't take it? You must be European.

  81. 281

I'm married to a right wing extremist and our arguments are just painful. He wants everything for free. Doesn't want to pay taxes. Says college grads are idiots. (I'm one) Won't move from the south but was born in MI and says he hates the south. My life is in ruins here as now I can't afford to leave on my own. Everyone says to leave him and the south but I don't have the courage to venture out in America on my own. I have no family except 80 yr old Mom. No friends,as most of them here are gun slinging, bible thumping, baptists who can't relate to me or me to them. My husband knows what I went through with my friend with diabetes dieing because of no insurance/with a 40 hr a week job. Am I missing the point? What is it that republicans have about their country not being about the people as well as the money? Not just the money. This place is scaring me to death.

  82. 282

Re: Moogle80 – You are absolutely right. On behalf of my country-which I love BTW-I apologize for all of the blatant ignorance and greed
displayed by some Americans. We are not all like THAT. Some of us care. Some of us "get it".
The haters, the grossly brainwashed, uneducated and misinformed, those completely lacking in compassion are an EMBARRASSMENT to my country!
I only wish something could be done about it…only way is if they find themselves in a situation, sick with no healthcare. Maybe then they'll get it?
    Or maybe not. :)
    Michael Moore ROCKS!

  83. 283

It's ridiculous how many people here believe that people who cannot afford proper medical care are lazy or don't work. Your country is in a RECESSION which means that a lot of people in your country are losing jobs, people who up until a few years ago were hard working and held steady jobs. But now thousands of people are being laid off, so suddenly just because of economic conditions that are in no way under their control these people are lazy? There are people who have worked hard to make their way through school and now cannot find jobs because America isn't in the best economic situation right now. Being apart of the lower class does not equal being lazy at all, and only an ignorant person would come up with an association between the two. The fact is the people on here who are so against the reform type in caps lock, call Michael Moore a fatass, and rant about having to pay for lazy people, which clearly shows just howw intelligent you really are. If you're going to make an argument against the reform say something logical, calling someone fat and lazy just makes you look like an idiot.

  84. 284

Re: LA Doc – Why should I feel bitter or feel like a victim? And I must be European as in you think all Europeans are the same? Shows how much you know. You must have a really busy practice, spending all this time on Perez..

  85. 285

Re: supersongbird – Apology accepted :) I hope the others will get it though..

  86. 286

Re: Moogle80 – Um, somehow I doubt that. Not in my lifetime.
    Ignorance is bliss I suppose!
    Sigh!

  87. 287

Im sorry America but….. Sometimes you're so dumb! you shoulda done this a long time ago! Things are gonna be sooo much better now, dont you worry. Its amazing how different ppl are when they arent struggling to survive, when they're not desperate. They can be themselves!congratulations!

  88. 288

Michael Moore is a liar. They will not cover pre-existing conditions. People who are self employed and don't buy health care will get penalized at tax time.

  89. 289

    He makes an excellent point.

And I would just like to say that a friend of mine went on holiday to America a few years ago, fell and broke his leg and ended up almost not being able to afford hospital treatment.

My teacher was actually talking about this kind of thing today, about how she'll never complain about the NHS again after going to Ireland for a year and seeing how much money it costs just to be SEEN by a doctor.

  90. 290

    i love this.

  91. 291

Moore is an idiot. He needs to SFTW. He left out about 20 NEGATIVE things about the health plan. Nobody is saying that giving an asthmatic child the chance to see a doctor is a bad thing.. it's awesome! But, you don't just get things for free.. things never work out as well as the story sounds!!! There are a lot of other implications behind the fluffy stories that democrats and other health reform supporters will throw at the public. It sickens me b/c the people who choose not to look at the entire plan, buy it, and fluff it up even more.

  92. 292

he's a moron, and anyone who agrees with him is a moron as well.

  93. 293

land of the free…where you have to pay if youre ill

  94. 294

He's so right. "Sicko" was amazing, even to see how the systems work in England and France was great. I'm Canadian, and I'm so happy with our health care system, its not perfect, but nothing ever is. Congratulations on making the first step towards Universal Health Care, and I truly hope for your sakes that it comes soon.

PS. In my opinion, if any of you are going to say that the US is the "best country in the world," you should probably start acting like it. Prove the rest of the world wrong.

  95. 295

Thanks once again Mike for dumbing it down for the ignorant masses who just don't get it. This country needs to divide before another non civil war starts,Ill be happy to move.

  96. 296

    Re: OratorRe: Orator
Republicans have healthcare! They don't need taxpayer entitlements.

  97. 297

  98. 298

Seeing as the language in the healthcare bill still enables insurers to deny coverage to children with pre-existing conditions (they're working to fix it), this nice little 'letter' of his is incorrect from the get-go. Not that that's surprising for Moore. He tends to use incorrect info or outdated info.

  99. 299

I'm not going to throw insults. I'm Canadian, and adore the fact that I can go to a walk in clinic, or my family doctor and not have to pay a shit load of money. I recently had a baby, and it didn't cost me a thing. She was in the NICU for 9 days, and I didn't have to go into debt for it. I mean, I still pay through taxes, but it's much better then paying a huge lump sum. Also, I disagree that America is "the best country in the world". Americans seem to think so, but the rest of the world doesn't, sorry. It may have once been, but certainly not after you elected the dumbest man in human history to lead your country not once but twice. Best of luck..

  100. 300

    THAT IS AWESOME!
