How embarrassing… and completely AMAZING!
Ann Coulter is up north right now on a Canadian lecture tour and last night's stop was at The University of Ottawa. The event was a riveting success as over 2000 people showed up for it.
Sorry, we should be more clear - over 2000 people showed up to protest it!
Students and demonstrators gathered outside the school's venue to aggressively protest her conservative blather being allowed on their campus. As simple-minded folk made their way into the theater for the event, the number of protesters grew, as did their damanging signs that recited some of Coulter's past quotes, such as: "we should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."
Isn't she lovely?
Well, after over two dozen police officers and campus security guards arrived on the scene and evaluated the situation, it was deemed unsafe for Miz Coulter and her cult fans to continue with the lecture. When everyone finally took their seats in the auditorium, it was announced that the event was cancelled.
Well done liberal youth and supporters! Another brainwashing session squashed. Wonder how her other two tour dates will fair?

I go to the University of Ottawa and it was an interesting spectacle last night.
Though I did not register to see her speak, I thought I'd take a stroll down to the auditorium and see the build up to the event.
Needless to say, there was an odd mix of people there - some who seemingly condoned homophobia and islamaphobia and others who absolutely did not support the messages that Ms. Coulter has shared in the past.
I absolutely do not agree with what she has to say - portions of her beliefs directly attack things that I hold close to my heart. Her values are very skewed and frightening (to say the least.)
Nevertheless, I do wish that she had the chance to speak. Do not get me wrong - she spews out ridiculous… but it was a chance for our active, intelligent and informed student body to debate. I think that if the lecture had gone on as planned, there would have been some very interesting comments and discussion.
I find that everything is put into perspective when you have persons like Ms. Coulter challenging it all. Her beliefs are far from mine, and at the end of the day, I am more sure of it every time she opens her mouth.

I have a lot of relatives in Canada and they have free speech but they also feel a responsibility to it and respect it. America doesn't respect it they flaunt it.
We did NOT promote violence against her! Lets be clear on that, obviously that would be hypocritical and contradictory to why we were there in the first place. They canceled the event because they "feared it would become violent" not that we threatened to make it violent. We were outside exercising our right to free speech. The Coulter supports were there as well and we had quite a debate happening regarding whether all Muslim's are terrorists or whether people with different skin tones or hair colour are second class. While that was all so very enlightening and a good history lesson on what opinions from the early 20th century are like, ultimately many in Canada believe that your right to free speech ends when you incite hatred and seek to limit the rights of others (as Ann Coulter does "I think [women] should be armed but should not vote…").
